I was an Eastern Air Lines employee for 16 years at DCA. I helped get the DC3 ready for the Air and Space Museum that is hanging from the ceiling. Love the great old birds.

Awesome coverage. I have lived in Biloxi for 74 years. It was a devastating storm. I could step out my door and throw a rock and hit highway 90 where the beaches are. We also had a devastating one back in 1969. Hurricane Camille. 200 mile an hour winds and 30 foot storm surge. Thank you for your visit and great coverage.🙏 ❤ 😊 🇺🇲

The crazy part is that Katrina was only a cat. 3 when it hit. Had it been a 5, there would've likely been nothing left standing from Biloxi to New Orleans.

The Delta Airlines Museum is one of the, if not the best airline museum in the world. I have been there during the Airliners International Convention and it is impressive. By the way, the Airliners International Convention 2025 will be held here again in June. I highly recommend it to any airline enthusiast. So glad to see this Delta DC-7B restored and displayed for future generations to learn and appreciate not only Delta's rich history but the airline industry overall. Thank you for sharing this video.

I always thought it was so amazing that people had the insite to build those tunnels. I really think we take that for granted

I had a small Construction company before Katrina and i lived in Laplace La outside of NOLA but i grew up in Metairie with it attached to NOLA so after Katrina i had phone calls forever from people i knew to see their houses and businesses plus i had contractors calling me as well! I road around NOLA and the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain and the things i saw were incredible! From dead bodies to boats stuck in the upstairs of a home. The bridge crossing the lake with parts of it down in the water! Somethings will never be forgotten and i pray we never see anything like it again!

The Douglas DC-7 series aircraft once epitomized glamour and luxury aloft at the very height of the golden age of air travel. Airlines that flew them often rolled out red or gold carpets out to these aircraft from the gates and lined the pathway with matching cordons to guide passengers to these winged wonders of modern magical adventure. Once on board, First Class passengers were treated to sumptuous gourmet meals in flight accompanied by complimentary champagned and sample packs of top brand cigarettes. Delta Air Lines' Royal Service Flights were among the most notable of these and a trip on a Delta Golden Crown DC-7 or 7B was an experience to be savored. Despite the glitz and glamour of the era, travel by air in these magnificent machines meant hours of pounding cylinders and constant vibration that tended to make normal conversation at altitude a labored effort where one's voice through the reverberating atmosphere sounded as if he or she had swallowed a load of gravel. Speaking to one's seatmate, for instance, required regarding one another face to face so as to be able to partially read the other person's lips to be understood. Where with today's modern jetliners, passengers may find the sound of a baby crying several rows away bothersome or annoying, on board a DC-6 or DC-7, these sounds simply constituted a minor part of the overall background or so-called white noise.of air travel.

Mid seventies drove to Oakland almost daily. First class was at 9am. Was a 45 mile drive to Pitt School of Pharmacy. Merging close to tunnels was only a bit easier if I left apartment at 5:30 AM.. Four plus years to get the five year degree. Worth every moment....

I am sure a much improved version could be built today. Concorde technology is 60 years old. Bottom line, it has to make financial sense. Way too loud. Except for the pilots.

San Francisco has some steeper streets. The sidewalks alongside them are stairways.

Geez go to Morninside. I got stuck,lost while pickung up my hrandadughter her friends house. I made a turn and had no choice but to go down a street which was very similar. I prayed and drove VERY SLOW! We made it.

Everyone hits their brakes going into the tunnels in Pittsburgh as if they are going to get swallowed up by a monster inside... Never understood why they can't just maintain the same speed. Whoever was driving however waited until there was a solid white line to merge left and was in the wrong lane ignoring the exit only markings for the left before heading straight. 🤦

Very nice video quality compared to other Concorde trip reports I've seen. I've walked through the Concordes at the Paris Museum of Air & Space. To be honest the seats looked similar to today's premium economy products. And at 8:34 the interior looks similar to an ATR-72. And that's the real reason why Concorde was not a success financially. You had to be an aviation enthusiast type person to make more than one trip.

Nice video, as another user pointed out below, just shows why the Concorde was never replaced as it was. At long last the only benefit of such a journey was that you'd get there in 3 hours. Cool plane, but I think if she was still around I'd still rather just book a business class ticket on a subsonic jet. Cheaper, more room, and have a little more time to relax. Love the closing line of the video, I miss these sort of style of videos.

very empty considering this was its last week in operation, you'd think more people would be nostalgic enough to at least experience it one last time. goes to show how un-economically viable it really was and lets not kid ourselves most of the concorde's clientele would be able to easily cough up the money for its high ticket price if they really had any sort of brand "loyalty" to the famous jetliner.

aw man, i had expected to see that thing where the firefighters line up at the side of the plane and spray the water over it making an arch like shape like most airlines do when they retire an aircraft.

Got to experience this 20 years ago as a teenager. It was magical! Your driving past so many mountains, green trees, tunnel after tunnel. Then suddenly it's almost as if you come out of Hyper Space when you come out of that tunnel. The entire city is above, around, and below you! It's such a transformation, like others have said it's best experienced in person. Thanks for the video! 😎👍

Those last piston/prop-liners were really something. I can vividly recall the sound of them as they landed and took off at Renfrew Aerodrome when i was a kid. Our house was down by the Lockheed hangar next to the King George V playing fields. The thunderous roar of big radials and V-12s as they 'went around,' was terrific. Constellations, DC 4 Skymasters, Stratocruisers, DC 3's and the more plentiful turboprops like Vangards, Viscounts, 748's, HP Heralds and the big fella's like the beautiful Brittania and my favorite when I was a wee boy,- The AW Argosy! Argonauts with there V 12 Merlins ,and Avro Yorks with the same, sounded great, and when I lay in bed at night, I could always tell if it was either type circling above by their sound. A kind of throbbing "Wumm, wumm, wumm!" Great stuff. Watching this brought it all back. Renfrew Aerodrome closed as an Airport in '68 (I think?) and !oved the 2.5miles to Abbotsinch RNAS station, which of course is known now as Glasgow Airport. The terminal building at Renfrew was something to behold. With its early '50's re-inforced concrete and extensively glazed architecture. It was our 'Den' when we were kids,and the huge 'Sky-Arch' that could be seen for miles, was a big part of our towns signature. So when the Terminal was demolished to make way for a monsterously ugly Tescos, folk were a little upset. But the Sky-Arch was listed and to be kept, which was something to preserve the Airfields history at least. Tescos demolished it and paid the fine for damaging a listed building! Needless to say, Tesco wasnt a very popular word after that! Oh well, thats progress. 'Isnt it?'
