Disappointed with Fire Maple Maverick
Thanks bro
No problems 😊
Thankyou!
Didn’t work
Very, very useful information. Have not seen anything like this before.
Good idea 👍🏼
Been looking at these for ages. Just recently started cooking my meat over an open fire and the taste is incredible. Going to have to commit i reckon 😁
Nice test. I wish more alcohol stoves had simmer rings.
Wow and wow! Excellent video! Great to know the long burn time with 115 ml and the half open simmer ring. Plenty of time to keep something warm!
Yummy 😋. They sound pretty good, must try some. Great review. Made in Tassie! I’m there yay 😀
Great for a special occasion when out and about. I am keen to try the actual fresh 'Van Diemens Creamery' ice-cream from which this is made from.
Looks like a treat & enough to share. Energy boost on a hike too.
Great treat to celebrate a decent climb to the top a mountain...or whatever.
After that put 100 grams of salt on it
Thanks for the info. Great video showing the features and the tap in action 👍
It's a handy container, still using mine with tap.😊
I really appreciate your posting this video. Received the same stainless steel Firebox Deluxe Combo Kit just yesterday as a birthday gift. So I am grateful for all the tips you included in your demonstration. I cooked my lunch using the stove / Trangia setup with fantastic results. Looking very forward to cooking over a wood fire next. Best to you from central Indiana, USA.
Happy Birthday !!! May you celebrate every day as you celebrate your birthday !!!
That's great to hear😊. It is such a great birthday present that will last many years to come. I hope you have fun when cooking with timber.
@@bushgearreview , I have burned wood....all downfall from storms here in Chicago, or some gas station/Home Depot firewood bundles...and enjoyed it. Cooked some steaks at a public park while hammocking, here.
Why not keep adding Cola instead of water?
It seemed fruitless as it was.
@@bushgearreview Agreed. It was never going to produce much clean water. Excellent rejection though. How did the final clean water taste? Sweet? Salty?
It tasted like clean fresh water with no taste😊
@@bushgearreview well it would have drawn a better picture of I guess how much drinkable water the machine can extract from cola.... In the video you're just diluting the source and that's supposed to affect the result... Matter of fact, I'm not even sure that machine even works 🤷🏼♂️
It definitely works with dirty water. Check my other video out.
Thats dope, would love to see Arizona Green Tea, seeing this puts into perspective why drinking too much cola or whatever fucks you. Like you know but seeing this is kinda crazy ~
I hear you😊. I don't mind a red Bundaberg rum and Cola occasionally, but I am very mindful how bad it must be lol.
Good stuff 👍🏼. It actually did seperate the Cola and gave you drinkable 💦
Agreed😊
Great idea to customise these when they’re good quality cups.
Agreed, very reasonable and convenient ordering process.
I'm surprised you weren't able to sustain a flame with the simmer ring 3/4 closed. I use it like that quite often without any issues. Sometimes I have it barely open at all and it burns just fine. Though I usually throw the simmer ring on well after the burner has had time to heat up.
You are right. Once the burner has warmed up, it's almost impossible to extinguish without a well fitting cap, as I have found trying to extinguish the Goshawk.
New sub here. So close to 1000 😊
That was a good test. Do you ever a actually put in 100+ ml? Another test might be a boil test with simmer ring and without for a cup of water. Cheers 😊
I have loaded up full a few times when doing big cook ups. I could do a short vid for 1 cup 1 day😊
This is silly they are saying that they will void the warranty if they don’t get the money to engrave it 😂😅😂
Fortunately their pricing is reasonable 😊
Looks great 👍🏼
I own all of the Firebox stoves that have ever been offered. They are well made and they absolutely work.
It's basically a Gerber prodigy, but Bear Grylls added the hammer poll and the whistle (and the 90 degree spine)
Ahh, yes, that makes sense. I recently bought the strong arm fine edge without the serrations.
That was really interesting and informative - thank you for doing this and posting it!
No problems, thanks 😊
That’s amazing filtration.
So far, so good. Check my short out on us topping up our water jug.
What a great unit, fantastic. To think that you can have drinkable water from that dirty puddle.
It's a great little system, that's for sure. I am hoping it can save space long-term by not having to carry extra bottles for drinking water . As long as I know that the area I am heading into would likely have puddles, waterholes, etc, to draw from. Long-term reliability of the Itehil is yet to be proven.
Currently $399 AUD plus discount $40 AUD off: BGR40 Not for Salt Water..
I've managed burn times of around 2 hours with 60mils of fuel and the simmer ring 3 quarters closed. Good for slow cooking purposes! I've never tried it with the burner filled to the brim though. I would be concerned about the potential for flaring up if used outdoors in hot and/or windy weather. However, these sort of times do indicate that a Trangia with simmer ring in proper use can compete with gas canister stoves any day!
Thank you for sharing 😊. That is a good effort of 2 hours @ 3/4 closed. You are right about potential flare-ups in hot/ windy weather. I keep going back and forth between gas and alcohol but it's great to be able to have options.
You KNOW it's legit when the narrator has an aussie accent
How much does it weigh when full of all your stuff?
Do you prefer this instead of the plastic drawers? Looks like it fits heaps.
Yes, I do. It is far more compact and flexible when packing into tighter spaces.😊
Great idea!
Trying to keep it low.😊
Crispy!
Crispy but not burnt 😊
Looks good enough to eat, lol 👍🏼. That is a nice little stove.
It goes alright 😊
💯🤙
This is a very affective way to remove leeches I remember my mom telling me when she was a kid she would dive in lakes (not flowing water) With my uncles (her brothers) and she would panic when she would see that she has leeches She would slap them as hard as possible and it worked! Love you ma ❤
Good review. Too expensive for what it is.
That's a fair call 👍😊
@@bushgearreviewDefinitely worth it for $65 + shipping but that a horrible bloody rip off in Oz mate. Godspeed Thanks 🙏🙏
I was on a spending spree the day I bought it, lol. 😊
@@bushgearreview No judgement! I remember when I was a kid and my dad brought home the Lantern Tripod….holy moly, what an amazing game changer that was.
Thr reality is I more often than not use a tripod as I usually have a few in the car for video lighting anyway 😊
Excellent review style, editing and direction. Keep going!
Much appreciated, thankyou😊
It's an early 00's gimmick
In what way?
@@bushgearreview I'm sorry, have you seen the thing? Are you aware of the bear grylls brand and the era it was in? Are you that unaware of culture?
But why is it a gimmick?
What credentials do you have over Bear Grylls?
@@bushgearreview gimmick- a trick or device designed to attract attention...
Great ideas for the stove
A good starting point😊
Beverly Hillbillies quote “Y’all come back , sit a spell , take your shoes off” 😬😂good idea mate 👍
I loved that show😊👍
@@bushgearreview yep, I grew up in Beverly Hills in Sydney, loved it too. I enjoy mucking about with metho stoves and watch your mods on the Goshawk stoves with interest. Keep going mate 👍Cheers 🍻
I never realised there was a Beverly Hills in Australia. The Goshawk with the stand has really grown on me.😊
@@bushgearreview it’s in the mid south west of Sydney’s sprawl.. “Swimming pools, Movie Stars”😂
No soot when I use HEET. Adding water produced a more orange “cooler” flame.
It wasn't meant to be used in the manner you used it
I pushed its limits a little, but prior to that, with smaller fires, it was still garbage.
I pushed its limits a little, but prior to that, with smaller fires, it was still garbage.
a superbly put together video. I ordered mine last Sunday & this saved me reading the instructions :D
Thankyou😊
Just use tobacco squeeze on it
I do like that bag 👍🏼. I could use that when camping, for sure.
What do you use at present?
@@bushgearreview . I only use a couple of boxes and a smaller bag to carry my gear.
Gets the job done👍😊
I had the g2 looong ago it feels like. The greatest camping stove in my mind... Lost it a couple years back, I think I loaned it to a "friend" while drunk... Ehhh well. Just gave up hoping it would show back up and ordered another one. If it does 2 would be better than one anyway. Great video. Cool edits
Mine was €36 here in Spain a couple of years ago, if memory serves. As you said below the metal won't last forever, but at the price point for yard work and camping I'm very happy. I'll look at Gerber again in the future as I'd be worried about the pricey brands breaking, being lost etc. Great video.
Thank you, and hello Spain😊 I totally understand where you are coming from.
Good job @BushGearReview
Thanks Stew 😊
That’s cool. Is it possible to sharpen it & if so, do you think with regular use it would last?
It is possible to sharpen, but to my understanding, the metal isn't of any significant quality. This is obviously due to the relatively low pricing of the tool. I personally think it's good value. Maybe a Leatherman in the future to do a comparison lol.
