Yes I’m in this video I am a former marcher of the hurcs this was in Allentown pa I was on the baritone horn line I remember because the weather sucked
Ahh, just wait till we are this big again. We are back By the way, we are competing in the Soundsport World Championship this weekend in Lucas Oil Stadium so there is more to come from the Steel City Ambassadors
Worst stadium ever for a championship. Baseball field where the football field was from 1st to 3rd. Terrible set up. And I think the field was 10 yards short.
My last competing year with the Long Island sun rises was 1968, this is 19 years later, even though I am no longer a member of the Sun rises, I still get chills up and down my spine. Fantastic well executed program in spite of the rain . They were sponsored by the Floyd Bennett American Legion Post 1060 in Brooklyn New York, when I was a member of the Floyd Bennett golden eagles, drum and bugle Corps, they were our sponsors as well. I was a member of the golden eagles 1960 and 1961, I played snare drum at that time. Due to an injury I sustained in early 1962, I hurt my right arm and hand where I can no longer play snare drum competitively. So when I joined the sun rises in 64 still wanting to be part of the Drumline I decided to play symbols, along with Bill Jenkins . We received a nickname of the dynamic duo, from menox the famous drum corps photographer. There is a photograph of us in Drum Corps, history book volume 2 in the sunrise section today is, January 9th 2024. I miss seeing Real Drum and bugle c o r p s. In my opinion, DCI is the reason for the demise of what was one of the greatest activities in North America, they have turned it into a marching band competition, superimposed on the three-ring circus. This is just my opinion I have nothing against marching bands but it's not a, real drum and bugle c o r p s

This was a fun group. I remember them doing a few exhibitions during our tour in 1984 with 27th. I think they were at the CYO Nationals. A fun group to hang around with and 'jam'....
I am, a former member of the Long Island sunrises, 1964, through 1968. Thank you for posting this clip, brings back great memories for me. We closed out the 1968 season by, winning the New York state championship, followed by the American Legion National Championship in New Orleans Louisiana, we also were the first organization leading the Macy Day Parade. Today is, September 16th 2023.
I was 17 this summer. This is pre-lims. Finals was a rained out stand-still. I'm going to blame the muddy field, the weather and bad 1987 recording technology but we were a way better drum corps than this video represents. I'm also pissed that I got no close ups! :) My superb concert snare and clave work goes unmemorialized. I had all those North Drums in the pit and was totally ignored.
I have not heard this since the late 70’s. I bought the DCA album in 77 that included this show. I then transferred it to cassette. We would listen to this show on the tour bus as we traveled to our next competition.
Thank you so much for uploading! My grandfather played bugle in the Cabs at this time. It's amazing to be able to see him perform with a quick youtube search.
My Dad and Uncle were in the YR in the late 50's and my cousin was in the 70's, Jack, Carl and Jackie Doster... I was in the White Knights in the early 70's... i grew up on this show... still gives me chills..... Thanks you the beautiful video!
This is REAL DRUM CORP like the twinks that are out there today with trombones, dance reviews, etc. We'll done Hawthorne, Skylines, Sunrises, Prinemen, Yankee Rebels and the list goes on.
OMG, I can not believe I found this! 36 years after my only year marching color guard with the Bucs, bam…there I am, on screen spinning a flag! I am so grateful you posted this!! Honestly, I just threw out my rifle in 2021, when we were preparing to move from the US to Italy! My nephew is now marching with the Crossman, brass section, and I can’t wait to share this with him! ❤❤❤ Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Ray Fallon answers many of the questions I had about this show and the Archie members who performed in it. However, who were the drum majors and who was wearing the Reilly uniforms? This is a stellar perfomance of one hell of a repertoire. I was a member of Archer-Epler in 1963. Jimmy Cossetti, Danny Fitzpatrick, Mike Snow, Joe Schmidts were men I had marched with. I was in the Reilly Raiders Alumni Corps with Merry and her mom. This music is a salute to many of the great corps of the drum corps activity. I salute Ray Fallon for putting this all together.
The Yankee Rebels got together in 1989 to march in the American Legion National convention parade in Baltimore, Maryland. The word went out for members of the former Rebels' championship corps to come together and march in this parade for old times sake. More than 100 members showed up. Phil Gentile, the drum major you see here, found drums and bugles for sale up in New England. He bought a truckload of those instruments. The parade was supposed to be a one shot affair. That one shot affair lasted for 12 years. Seen here, a year after they met at Hamilton American Legion Post #20, is the revived Yankee Rebels alumni field corps in exhibition. They are playing the same repertoire that brought them three national American Legion titles in 1969, '70 and '71. You can't keep dedicated drum corps people down!
Mr Scott friend on solo

Marching timpani and keyboards. Now that's drum corps!

My last year after three seasons with them. I loved being a part of the corps
still Get Goosbumps!
RCL!
Should have won!! That year!!
Worst stadium ever for a championship. Baseball field where the football field was from 1st to 3rd. Terrible set up. And I think the field was 10 yards short.
Jason?
Nice
A lot of great corps that year, too bad finals was rained out. Sun probably would have still won but 2nd through 6th would have ben a major dogfight
Must have been one Helleva show to play! 🔥🔥🔥

Eek - the infamous year between 1995 and 1997.
This was a fun group. I remember them doing a few exhibitions during our tour in 1984 with 27th. I think they were at the CYO Nationals. A fun group to hang around with and 'jam'....

Never liked cabs. It was sky for me
Best 2nd place corps ever. Sunrisers won that year.

An old friend and legendary lead soprano - Frank Ponzo - @ 1'39". None better. Full stop.

How wonderful!!! They were outstanding!!!
Nicely done. That flag presentation has Truman Crawford writen all over it. Worked for the 1965 Royal Airs, too.
Thank you for the Memories! What a year we had. I am Thankful to have marched with an awesome group of talented individuals! MD 2nd SOP.

Good lookin drum major😘

is present day caballeros full of a bunch of twinks then? we have quite a lot of choreo in this seasons show.. lol
My opinion but this has got to be one of many shows they played that should've been number 1
Followed them from the Parade of Champions held annually at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore. This alumni group did themselves great.

My grandfather was Mike Snow..I’m so fortunate to see that someone else remembers him fondly…I miss him every day

Come on back!! We're currently doing tryouts 🙏✌️
6:58 chills. No one had swagger like the Cabs!
Having been a member of the Yankee Rebels Alumni Corps from 2000 to 2012, I can't begin to tell you just how much fun that was.
God bless the mellophones from 10:28 on. They were incredible
Nice shot of Merry at 9:47 Go Archie
