Providing railroad video in the Carolinas.
Seeing Red Again
Once a busy through route for Seaboard Air Line, CSX's Aberdeen Subdivision is now a low volume tributary that hosts only local freights, and Amtrak's Silver Star. If you ever pass through Sanford and look at the signals, you usually only see red aspects, as only 2 through trains operate through town in each direction each day. That monotony is briefly disturbed, as the dispatcher has P091 lined up to head south through town, and can be seen "knocking down" the signals at the south end of Sanford Siding, and the ATW Railroad Crossing. As the train fades into the night, everything goes red again.

99 Problems

CSX F758, the Sumter-Florence turn, passes through Cades, SC on their way to Florence with a heavy train. In the beginning of the video, the train is stopped with air trouble about a mile south of me and the crew can be heard talking to the dispatcher about their problem. This wasn't the first or last time this train would have trouble before reaching Florence.

One Hundred Percent Juice ... with some extra additives
Переглядів 48012 років тому
With the third engine dead in tow, CSX L140 (the new symbol for the northbound loaded Tropicana orange juice train) struggles to acheive line speed as it drags through Rowland, NC which is just to the north of the NC/SC state line. This train resembles it's southbound counterpart as they now both haul intermodal traffic along with the juice cars.

The photographers seen in this video have come from out of state, some even as far as Delaware, to North Carolina to archive the last days of the ACL searchlight target signals, which in this video guard the interlocking at Contentnea, just to the south of Wilson, NC. About 15 miles north of here, interlocking signals such as the type seen in this video are already being replaced with newer tec...
Where The Rubber Meets the Railroad

The following is a compilation of 3 Amtrak trains seen on the same day at the same location. First is Amtrak 80, which is lead by heritage unit # 156, and followed by one of the North Carolina Department of Transporation's locomotives which haul the Piedmont between Raleigh and Charlotte. The train is seen passing under the intermediate signals, known by the crews as "Firestone". It bears this ...

The morning fog is still slightly visible as CSX train Q41017 decelerates past the signals at South Florence in Florence, SC. This crew has only 3 more miles to reach the yard at Florence, and end their all-night 205 mile trip from Savannah. GA. Leading the train is CSXT 5000, which sports "Diversity In Motion" on the carbody doors.

CSX U29707 passes through the small town of Scranton, SC on it's way to the Cross Generation Station located near Pineville, SC. The crew is just 20 miles into their trip, and have another 48 to go to get to the rotary dump plant. The 2 units leading the train were added after 1 of the original 2 units experienced problems in Virginia, and now help the train make up the lost time.
The Widecab-less Consist

Daily Waycross-Hamlet merchandise train Q49211 charges through the "cute" town of Scranton, SC as the crew makes their way from Savannah, GA to Florence, SC. Scanton is located at milepost A 313, 20 miles south of Florence. Barking Up A New Railroad
Переглядів 2 тис.13 років тому
Nash County Railroad? Not anymore. Gulf and Ohio sold this property to the Carolina Coastal Railway in May. And boy were they busy for the first couple of weeks afterwards as Perdue Farms sent 2 unit trains to Nashville, back to back. The 2 GP38s bark their way out of Rocky Mount headed towards Nashville with most of the second train in tow.

No, the Carolina Coastal Railway hasn't adopted their own paint scheme ... YET. They just happened to buy 4 ex-CN, ex ex GTW GP9s, still wearing GTW colors. The 2nd of 4 units has hit the road, and leads the 120 towards Chocowinity after having just passed through Walstonburg. Walstonburg is 16 east of Wilson.
Taking the Grand Tour

It's only her second day of service since coming to the Carolina Coastal Railway, but she isn't showing signs of weakness as she makes a grand tour of the railroad. The 4628 led the 120 in both directions between Wilson and Chocowinity earlier this morning. And now she leads the 114 through Bailey, on the way to Raleigh.
Patience Is A Virtue

A motorcyclist had his crotch rocket in the wind trying to beat this train to the crossing. He retreats in another direction just as the rear end passes by. You just can't fix STUPID.
This is great. Do you have anymore train videos or pictures in Robbins?
Kim used to run the Palmetto all the time. Now she’s on the Silver Meteor or Silver Star. Miss having her in my neck of the woods.
STUNNING Gotta love an ES44AH with CSX spec Nice videography 👍
I wonder if there is anyway to actually go up in the cab of a CSX here in Florida. Bucket list item of mine. Can an engineer do this ? Or is it a huge no no
That looks like a cozy interior
2nd Gen K5hl!!
I have a Choo Choo Vision Train Camera to go with my Trackmaster Talking Edward. It’s a nice CSX ES44AH in Cab sound which I recorded the audio and make the Trackmaster train Cab Ride video on iMovie.
CLNA no longer owns that one. I had no idea, it was a former Massabe unit.
This was shot at Otranto Road. The train at Red Bank Road Goose Creek at the very beginning of the video.
Its a shame that CSX doesn't allow anyone to record their rides from the Cab. That's sad 😭😭😭
Kid: Hi guys so the train horn is loud and I'm riding on the freight train
I'm a emd type of guy the SD70ACE is cool locomotive just like the regular cab Sd50 & the SD40-2
Cool! I love short lines
Never have the cab light on at night ,your a target for someone !!
The other railline is the CLNA railroad
Welding tracks together nowadays.
DMIR
FM unit
I’d blow so much!!!
One of my fav B36 videos. That horn is incredible
K5HL?
I’ll bet engineers see some very strange stuff.
That's awesome! I didn't know the F-units stuck around this long. It's great you caught that F7B on film.
I enjoy the horn it's a Early K5HL
nice
this line is now own by rj corman and thay are rebuilding it
I can remember when this was just an abandoned remnant of the original Norfolk Southern - and from Star to Aberdeen , the rails had not seen a wheel in years- there was a branch just east of the Candor freight station that ran to Ellerbe. My uncle said that some of that branch paralleled old U.S.220 going south.
Why, (sputter-sputter, gush-gush) this is reminiscent of the early work of the cinematic pioneers known as the Lumiere brothers!
EMD SD40-2's are the Cadillac of railroads
good ole bouncy GE unit..
What a beautiful horn!
Because...in the midnight hour she cried more more more! With rebel yell...more more more!
The rumble of a GE loco sound great in the cab, but one thing I cannot get over: I could barely stand the blasts of that loud, annoying, and severely discordant K5HL on a whole trip. I wish there was a K5LA up there. I wish the stupid and totally worthless FRA regulations never existed, because damn did they really destroy decent-sounding horns. But I'll quite my bitching and give credit where it's due... seriously great video though. I love the cab night shots.
I like 'dropped' signals. Add more delight to the shot.
I love the sequence @ 1:40 of the frog separating the rails, allowing the bridge to ''swing''. So many drawbridge videos leave that all important function out by not doing close ups or focusing too much on the tail end of the train or some bird that just landed nearby by. Double thumbs up!
Hours of Mullins recently eating at Webster's Manor and to RJ Corman employees had stopped in and they were telling me they were still working to get the Line open and I'm glad they are had one of them even gave me a calendar so before we left I wish them good luck on the project then I said who knows I might be filming y'all's train soon
That's a union pacific train
Lol that's fun!
Just started at Norfolk southern and i definitely like new gevos over the old stuff.
Oilfan27 finna get laid off?
The K5HL
One problem with this video...it was too short! Nicely done...enjoyed it. Thanks!
How often does Belhaven, NC see the local train? What industry does it serve along that track?
Cool
i ment k5hll horn
is that k6hll horn on bnsf or is it ns or up or kcs
It’s either a Norfolk Southern or CSX because of the flashing ditch lights
I wish that thay can let me ride and honk the horn at the crossing
Damn that was cool
Awesome! Has NS at all used the line since this footage taken almost 10 years ago? (Wow) Also, I subbed, keep up the good work.
Trains N' Stuff nope however the only exception being in 2016 when hurricane Matthew damaged the North Carolina corridor via Selma with immense flooding and the old ns tracks remained practically unscathed due to being on higher ground
Another great catch! I'm an old rail-fan, been living in Eastern NC since 1996. Other than on UA-cam, I've never seen traffic going across this bridge. Thanks for sharing !
Csx 896
pause it at 2:37, that would be the perfect thumbnail, plus that K5LA is really loud, i have wanted to see those EMD's, but they are not a company any more right
