why are people building in the ocean

People seem confused here. The beach has eroded. That’s not where the house was when it was built. Look up coastal erosion. This is often caused by storms. Climate change is making coastal erosion worse by increasing the number and severity of storms, which leads to more winds, waves, and floods.

The water is that close & under the house due to rising sea levels and I believe there was a storm off the coast when this was recorded. It wasn’t built that close to the water.

poor guy. his wife badgered him until he paid for her dream home: a poorly-conceived top-heavy stilt-home on the beach. no doubt he warned her it would be a huge waste of money, but she threatened divorce until he finally relented. and now she'll divorce him for allowing that storm to knock it over. can't win.

I can't imagine all of that debris going into the ocean and creating a swimming nightmare.

Couldn’t finish the video, as someone who stays up on the 4x4 at the Outer Banks it’s aggravating to see people who don’t know what they’re doing. One person parked way to close to the surf, until the waves take it over and someone else just parked in the way doing a live recording 🤦🏻‍♀️

I was disappointed that Sam Walker didn't challenge Bob White on his narratives. When Bob claimed that Ike McRee retired because of Paul Beaumont and the InsightGlobal debacle, I nearly fell out of my chair. Ike didn't retire because of Paul; he more likely retired because of Bob. Let’s revisit October 2023. After the Board of Commissioners voted five to two not to renew McRee's contract, Bob unilaterally took it upon himself to draft a performance review and a notice to McRee that he would not be renewed. Four commissioners confirmed they knew nothing of this document until after Bob and Selina Jarvis delivered them to McRee. Jarvis told Thom Roddy, founder of Blackwater Reports, that she first saw the document when Bob picked her up to hand-deliver it to McRee. This document listed ten significant performance concerns and the notice not to renew. Bob conveniently forgets this, even though he discussed it in his now-deleted January 31, 2024, press release. Before the January press release, Bob seemed to forget that he had given Paul Beaumont the green light to engage with headhunter InsightGlobal. Bob said in his now-deleted press release that he authorized Beaumont to proceed in contacting InsightGlobal after the Board of Commissioners voted in October 2023 not to renew McRee's contract. This made sense, as the county needed a new manager. The InsightGlobal debacle was unfairly blamed on Paul Beaumont. The county failed to get InsightGlobal to provide any document supporting Bob and the county attorney's narrative. Instead, Bob relied on an email from the lowest employee in InsightGlobal's chain, claiming Paul authorized advertising the county manager job. However, InsightGlobal refused to provide any email, text, contract, or other documentation to support their low-level employee’s claim that Beaumont authorized the post. The InsightGlobal even said she emailed a receipt to Beaumont. But again, InsightGlobal failed to produce the receipt or any other record supporting any assertion that Beamont authorized to post the job. Moreover, despite Bob and the county attorney demanding the removal of the job post, it remained on InsightGlobal's website for over 500 days and was still listed earlier this week. Our investigative journalism into this scheme to tarnish Beaumont's reputation revealed that the county humiliated and embarrassed McRee. Had the county not exploited the situation with InsightGlobal to target Paul, Ike would have still retired but quietly. I invite Bob to debate me on this issue anytime, anywhere.
