Especially with the ProctorU type of examinations where the “Proctors” are hired all around the world going to the lowest bidder and they have access to student’s biometric data and ID. No one knows what the Jurisdiction would be if there is a breach.

Great conversation, hitting several nails on the head. Six years of dealing with a university's budget and finances: economies of scale are everything! In order to achieve these, a transformation of the business model is required. The opportunities are out there, especially with affiliation or mergers, and broader acceptance of online teaching and learning, and micro-credentials.

Quite a sobering overview of the initial financial situation. However, having worked in higher education administration in developing countries, I can confidently state: it can be worse. It took me 6 years to obtain a clean financial audit.

Free tuition has been a reality for decades in many European and Asian countries. Only Anglo-Saxon countries have tuition-dependent university systems, leading to funding uncertainty, and huge students' debts.

Wonderful PodCast! In crisis time, "boards need to be focused and take their cue from the university President" (Vice Chancellor). This can happen when earlier both invested time in building a trusting and productive relationship. Whether they speak once or many times a week then become immaterial.
