From 2017 I want to start uploading videos showing our family adventures in Northumberland, a complete mix of walking, wild camping, canoeing and kayaking and hopefully give some details which people will find useful. Places to go and things to do. I hope you enjoy.

In Episode 2 we'll take a route from Cragside on the outskirts of Rothbury, through the Coquet Valley, through the Otterburn Ranges and into the Kielder Forest. Stopping off along the way at points of interest and camp sites that will give great access to the Northumberland Wilderness.

@@keithharrison9644 thanks for watching, check out my other videos there’s a couple of sea fishing at amble
I prefer coastline over the harbour view for fish and chips, got the ice cream shop there as well 🙂
Great video 👍
Cheers thanks for watching. Enjoy exploring
Where was this?looks awsome
@@Mark-g6m3c hi Mark thanks for watching this was the beach at the south side of Cala Blanca, I found a better place at Cala Morrell though as I was there in October it was end of season with no boats, take care when there are lots of boats whizzing round. There’s endless great places with hidden rocky coves.
great video young fella , the northumberland coast takes some beating , could i just add a couple of things !! !! i second the advice on fish and chips at the harbour view in seaton sluice , fantastic and you just cross the road theres plenty of seating areas to eat them ,,then rest your belly ,, the second thing is craster while it is a beautiful little village ,, the parking charges have rocketed in the past year your advice is sound for parking but i would just add half a mile south of the village near howick there is quite a large layby near the bathing house ( you may know it ) park here free ,, then you can follow the costal path up into craster ,, comming out at the jolly fisherman where you can spend the parking charge on a good pint instead and admire the views up to the castle.. i enjoyed your content mind ,,, tar
Thanks Kevin. Glad you enjoyed the fish and chips!! Was there myself yesterday. The lay-by by the bathing house at Alnwick is a good shout and coasteering there is great!! Thanks for watching
Really good video thanks for all the information 😊
Where is part 3 hadrians wall ? Did you make it. ?
@@SarahOutdoors1957 hi Sarah had laptop failure and currently no way to process video. Hopefully at some point in the future I’ll do it. If you need any further local knowledge always happy to help
@@petemaccc cheers, no it's just thats pretty much the only northern long distance walk I've ever done and that was years ago 2011 it must have been , I remember quitting work one hot September in Brighton and just packing the bag and getting dropped off up there by a friend and just walking most of it , not all of it , long story . Anyway here we are , I found your Northumberland camper van videos really useful even though I don't have one, anyway thanks a lot
@@SarahOutdoors1957 if you fancy another long northern walk check out my Northumberland coastal path videos. 64 miles south to north taking in some fantastic beaches. Thanks for the comments always nice to know they are appreciated
@@petemaccc yes been looking at all of them , very useful very useful I live on the south coast literally on the beach so over 400 miles each way drive, so good information like your videos is excellent
Very useful information I'm planning in coming up to Berwick and hiking wild camping diw to Craster and that general coastal area thus video is very useful for information
Never touch a starfish or it's likely to die... 😢
Just a helpful tip, if you ever wanted to properly finish the Northumberland Coastal Path, I strongly recommend walking the extra 4 miles north of Berwick to the actual border crossing (Marshall Meadows) as you'd be crossing into Scotland itself :)
Great video. Really interesting. Thanks for sharing 👏👏
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching
Nice hike. I do love the cheviots when its covered in snow. Liked and subscribed
I just did this walk on Tuesday. Hit on lucky as beautiful sunshine all day and did whole way to Hauxley on beach. No ice cream at start though.🤩
Thank you for your time showing me otterburn area .It brought back some very fond memories of Barrowburn tea room when it was open .Ive stayed at the bunk house and the teachers house next door as well as the bed and breakfast at the tea rooms .Such a lovely lovely peaceful area and coming down of windy gayle the views spectacular. So thank you for going out of your way showing us your beautiful Northumberland I'm very jealous. We are hoping to pay another visit God willing to Barrow burn and wild camp in the area next . Best wishes . Billy
@@williammills9236 sorry only just seen this comment, I stayed there 3 weeks ago and had a great weekend, thanks for watching
Brummies?
Legend 😀
Is that cave crag on the map? I was at simonside today couldnt find it but had no idea where to look really.
Liked and subbed.
Great to see the Daffs have come up, to remember loved ones we plant a couple every time we visit a hilltop and we last made it up Wether Cairn in October 2021. Good vid, keep them coming. Take care
That’s a lovely touch and helps for a nice pic, daffs always make you smile!! Was looking up to kidland Lee whilst sat neck deep chilling out!! Thanks for watching.
What a glorious day, bet that water was chilly. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching, water was surprisingly refreshing not cold at all once in. Even got a bit sunburnt.
Amazing squirrel shot. Lovely birdsong. I've been up the Shill, which has the most amazing views and a great yomp, but not Shill moor. One for the list this years holiday. I'm also a big fan of what three words. Worth getting the app. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, was a really nice walk and the red squirrel shot was a bit special, hope you enjoy you holiday I love living here!!
The Cheviots without wind! What has happened
Was a joy! The wind makes so much difference! Thanks for watching
Looked perfect hiking weather, with superb views with the snowy covering. Looks like quite a few routes up Cheviot and every video I have watched it always looks so boggy, which always puts me off. To be fair with the frosty conditions it looked perfect as did the route you took too, looked like a straight up and down from the car park, so a good options for me at some point in the future. Thanks for the video, Like no.9, cheers Alan
First time I’ve been up there and thoroughly enjoyed it, a lot of people said the view from the top isn’t the best due to the flat top, granted at the trig it’s not but at the edge of the plateau it’s lovely! Plan for the next drought!! Thanks for watching!
Top job with the instant response and help to a boat in need ❤
Couldn’t do anything but help, I’d always hope someone would help me if needed, thanks for watching.
Nice video, looks like a lovely day. Betsy enjoyed watching with me
I’ll try and remember a shout out next time 💕what did she make of the toads?
Lovely video. It was a lovely day to be in the hills wasn’t it. The views around Ingram valley are incredible 🎉. Really enjoyed this video thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching and the comment. The views are great! Started watching your cheviot video earlier but had to go to work will catch the rest later. ⛰️
Where is the amble the only amble I can think of is in Cornwall
Hi it’s off the coast of Northumberland. Well worth a visit!
My nemesis she’s a cruel mistress the Cheviot. Been up there many many times. You had a beautiful day for it. Really enjoyed your video thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it. I did think of your video when I got to the top “Dunno what all the fuss was about!” Expected it to be a lot harder and take much longer. Was really lucky with the weather! Thanks for watching.
@@petemaccc I love it up there. Glad you enjoyed it. Try it in a storm 😂it’s very different 😬
@emz_adventures I’m an unashamed fair weather everythinger!! Walking, camping, fishing if there’s a storm comin head for the pub!!🔥🍺
@@petemaccc haha good on ya. Nowt wrong with that
the cheviot nicked named Muckle is a old volcano
best walk to take to the top of the cheviot i will have to go back in the summer
I thought I’d have to wait until summer! Thankful for the cold snap! Thanks for watching.
That's a bad day's fishing.. but nice boat it's ashame about stickle backs.. ...
Thanks for watching. It was a frustrating day looking forward to the weather improving and getting out.
Hi camper van users. Please park responsibly. Use designated parking and designated sites for overnight staying. Take all rubbish with you. Put money back into the local community by paying for your parking. Thanks and have a lovely trip.
The Northumberland Coast is about as underrated as it is possible to be. NOT just to be whizzed through on your way UP to Scotland (or on the way back down). I particularly like Walkworth castle and the pubs in Walkworth for lunch (Mason's Arms etc). I am typing this whilst parked up at Beadnell just south of Seahouses. And Bamburgh has a butcher's shop to die for (Robert Carter & Son "Carnivore Heaven since ..."). I'd just like to say this was a particularly good video. Thanks. Very interesting!
Yo brummie... farmers still do it today, they get rid of the rocks and boulders off fields and pile them up all in one place
if it was a field growing crops ect I'd be inclined to agree but the field was typical grazing moorland, very uneven, very boggy..........plus there's not as much mystery involved in a dumped pile of bricks!! Thanks for watching!
@@petemaccc hundreds of years ago there could have been
Maybe, I guess many of the drystone walls will have been built from stone that’s just lying around. There were a few big ones in the pile similar in shape and size to ones I’ve seen at a burial cyst near blaewarie. I’d love to find an ancient relic rather than just dead sheep!!
Shrek!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
He was ace! Don’t think I’ve seen a mini donkey before!
hi mate sorry missed it am up to do next one atb Bryan
Sadly the charity went belly up and they are under investigation by the charity commission but if I hear of any other events I’ll let you know.
Subscribed, nice to meet you today on Hedgehope 👍
Likewise subbed you back atb Pete
I've probably ridden that route when I was one of those barmy MTBers 😄. Another great vid
It looked proper sketchy that route!! Thanks for watching
Blimey your ploughing through them 👍👍
Thanks for the sub and sorry for not responding sooner, haven’t been getting alerts through for comments. Atb
Hi did you come across the what looks like a american windmill/turbine near that tower?
Great spot. Was there once and also loved it
Doing these too....slowly. New sub. Atb
I’ve done quite a few over Christmas just need to do the editing and uploading. Are you on the Facebook group? Thanks for the sub. Atb
@@petemaccc oh there a FB group for the trig bagging?
@@MarkSweeting_ yes its called Northumberland Trig Points
Awesome as ever ❤
Really enjoyed this with my tea, good channel debs xx
Really enjoyed this lovely hike debs fan xx
Thanks for watching, I didn’t expect it to be that nice but it was lovely, have you seen the other sections? Completed them all last weekend. Atb Pete
Great to see numbers of tiny codling, but I have to wonder how many will ever make it to double figures. Precious few I rather think! Until the commercials learn to return a significant number of what they catch it will never improve! 😲😲😲
You’re probably right though the local fishing forums have been full of double figure fish over the last few days. Thanks for watching.
nice one mate 👍
Thanks 👍
That beach at Warkworth is stunning, never been on it before, so really need to get down on there the next time we visit the castle. Another great walk on the section and it defo graffiti for me and not art, just a personal option. Nice to have a pint at the end and fish n chips for me, not keen on kippers, cheers Alan
Think I agree on the graffiti thing, just been in a cave in menorca, similar thing there, if it’s not a 1000 year old cave painting it’s not art!! If you do come over next year let me know I’ll buy ya a pint!! Atb Pete
Didn't know there was an official route and great idea section hiking it, leaving the car, getting the bus out, then walking back. So the ice cream shop is the official starting point and that beach was fantastic, is this Cresswell beach? Quite fancy doing this myself (next year now) and it would be South to North I would prefer too but a valid point made. Amble looks a nice place, been passed it before but never stopped, usually on the way to Warkworth castle or Craster. Enjoyable first leg I will get round to watching them all, cheers Alan
Hi Alan thanks for watching. The buses have worked out pretty good so far. It’s a cracking walk, had a couple of weeks off as been on my jollies 😎boots back on next weekend and cracking on!
nice video mate 👍
Thanks for watching, have you seen part 1 & 2
@@petemaccc yes I have and it has been a great walk👍
