Hey! My name is Kelly and I am traveling the US (and then maybe the world?) in my self-converted Ford Transit van. Follow along as I post build tutorials, daily adventures, and the ins and outs of what life is like on the road.
I rented out my van | Meet my renter
I rented out my van and it was not as difficult as I had anticipated. Before renting it out, I had to thoroughly clean it and fix some issues that I had been neglecting for a while. However, now the van has a new tenant, and I will be keeping in touch with them throughout the 3-month rental period. I will share some of their feedback with you later.
I had to make sure that renting the van was a safe decision for me and my investment. Fortunately, the tenant was able to provide sufficient coverage and protection in case of an emergency or accident.
I was initially hesitant to rent out the van since it is my home and most valuable asset. However, after careful consideration, I decided that renting it out to this particular tenant made sense.

Yes- I was cooking dinner and I hear giggling and thumping from under my van and these kids from the dispersed campsite next to me were hanging out under my van 😅

Do you keep the blanket on all night?
Sometimes- but on the lowest setting. If not it gets too hot and I wake up and turn it off.

Nice tour. If I can offer one piece of advice....make sure you have venting for your refrigerator or it may not last very long as you will overwork the compressor. :)
Thanks for looking out- a overworked compressor is the worst. I didn’t show it but I have ample ventilation on three sides of the bench where the fridge lives.

how do you earn income if you travel, given that you are only 20 years old?
Great question! I work in the tourism industry half of the year and they subsidize housing. I use what I would be paying in housing costs to travel in the van!

seeing how people maximize space efficiency makes me want to rearrange my little bedroom to make it nice n cozy. I'm curious how much of a food pantry you'd be capable of storing with you with a long term between resupply situation. Like a survival van life xD
