13 Children, Children
The first rendition of this song; as a sweet, lullaby. (FYI, it was then re-recorded using a faster tempo, for the ‘On Tour” project, and the ‘Praise Him’ album in the Integrity series.) A tender love-song inviting children to come to Jesus, and experience His love; with their eyes, ears and touch.

12 Jonah Was Alonah

Imagine a circus barker singing about Jonah. "He was alone-ah. That's no balonah! All while a Donut Man-Jonah explains his disobedience; then his discomfort… all from the belly of the whale. It's a whale of a story!
11 Moses Led His People

This song teaches the kids about all of the plagues of Egypt. Try dividing the room down the middle. Kids on the left say ‘swoosh’ and lean left, kids on the right say ‘swoosh’, and lean right while a ‘Moses’ volunteer raises their arm to ‘part the Red Sea’. Everyone sings the chorus, “Swoosh, oh, won’t you open for me!”
10 What Kind of Man is This?

The story of Jesus stopping the rain, the wind and the waves. Several ways to do the song: Divide the group into rain, wind and waves, pause the song after each part and have that group make the sound of rain, then wind, then waves. It is also fun to get a child to play the part of Jesus and yell, “Stop” three times, after each pause, then the sound effect, then “Stop!” Feel free to simply make...
09 Nathanael

9] Nathanael: (song) Amazing story about Jesus’ call to follow. May folks don’t realize that the type of tree Nathanael used prevented people from seeing him pray. The branches drooped so low that righteous prayer warriors would go under the cool boughs to offer their intercessions to God. Perhaps you can make a ‘tree’ out of a few chairs with their backs spread far enough to throw a blanket ov...
08 Oh Balaam

8] Oh Balaam: (song) Sung by…? You guessed it, the donkey! As you sing it, you go back and forth from the narrator’s voice, to the donkey. This tells the story of God using a donkey to grab the attention of his wayward prophet, Balaam, who was being tempted to curse the Israelites by prophesying against them. But an angel got his attention, with a little help from his donkey. “Hee-haw!”
07 Esau Saw the Soup

7] Esau Saw the Soup: An obscure Bible story that kids should know! What would tempt you away from loving Jesus? Meet someone who traded his ‘birth-right’, his inheritance, for a bowl of lentil soup. The most common temptation to ‘lure’ us away from Jesus is bad friends. Would you rather ‘be liked’ than to obey Jesus and keep God as your best friend?
06 Poor Widow

6] Poor Widow: (song) This song is great for pretend. “Who wants to be the poor widow?” Bring a little girl up front and sit her in a chair. Begin a role play. “Is she happy or sad? Yes, she is poor, but she is also very happy to give everything she has to God”. What does it mean to be ‘rich in heaven?’
05 Peter Was a Fisherman

5] Peter Was a Fisherman: (song) This introduces kids to Peter’s call to follow Jesus; remarkably, as a ‘fisher of men’. Jesus goes ‘fishing’ for Peter, ‘catching’ Peter’s imagination. This song has a good rhythm for pretending to pull in ‘nets’ on the beat of the song. What does Jesus mean by ‘catching men’? Would you use candy bars? Being friendly? A musical rhyme-design that salutes Dr. Zeus...
04 Daniel and the Lions

4] Daniel and the Lion: (song) The verses are sung by the narrator in a hushed, scary way, and the three choruses have three types of lion; first one roars. Second one roars with ‘an angel’s hand over his mouth’, “Mmmmph”, and the third one ‘eats’m all up!” Another rowdy camp-song to wind’m up!
03 David Saw Goliath

3] David Saw Goliath: (song) A rowdy camp-type, sing-along that celebrates David’s bravery and Goliath’s defeat; as he laments, “I should have stayed in bed!” The lyrics also remind us that David first fought a lion, as practice, before he took-on Goliath. It is fun to tell the story first acting it out with the kids, using the song as your finale.
02 Silly Joshua

2] Silly Joshua: Sung from the perspective of the people inside of Jericho, mocking Joshua and his people. Have the kids stick out their tongue and wag their fingers mockingly as they sing the chorus. Then at the end of the song, “You can’t win a battle with a horn”, lift your hands over your head, and wiggle-waggle your arms as you collapse on the floor singing, “Oh, yes, you can!”
01 Bible Friends

1] Bible Friends (Opening): (song) Like a Broadway overture, this song was written last; that is, after the other songs. This Bible heroes, needed some sort of introduction; a summary. So, this song celebrates all of the wonderful characters that we shall be meeting personally. Thank God for these men and women of Character.

Donut Man Originals: #2 of 5: The Donut Man’s second album. In 1982-83, Rob Evans and his friend with the BBC, Scott Dunlap, in Cranbury, New Jersey, wrote and produced more fun story-songs in an attic studio, using microphones under blankets, home-made sound effects; guitar, bass, accordion, marimba and clarinet. After they produced their first project, ‘Bible Parables’, (original name: ‘Music...
