During the Covid crisis, I have been sewing instead of weaving. We are making them for our county to distribute to the many folks who need them in clinics and food services. This documents my mask-making process.

SlowAngle in Chimayo Weaving
Переглядів 3,2 тис.5 років тому
This video teaches the slow angle, which is usually the hardest angle for students to learn in my workshops. This includes both some animation of the process and video with live-action descriptions of what is going on. This is a companion video for A Chimayo Weaver's Guidebook.
Warp as Weft to begin
Переглядів 1 тис.5 років тому
This is just a recommended way to start Chimayo weavings, giving the beginning and ending edges a little bit of added stability. This is meant as a companion video to A Chimayo Weaver's Guidebook by Lisa Trujillo
spool sequence for repeat

Spool Sequence - This is a small idea that is central to Chimayo Weaving. This is a component of all of the tapestry angle videos that I have made, but it might be useful to view independently. This is meant as a companion to A Chimayo Weaver's Guidebook by Lisa Trujillo

Header Spreader Fill

After tying to the apron and before you start weaving, you need to weave in some "Header Spreader" or fill, to spread your warp ends out evenly. This is a companion video to A Chimayo Weaver's Guidebook by Lisa Trujillo.

I was gifted a very old loom, and have joined a WEAVING COHORT, w/Emily Trujillo……how wonderful to find this video. Hopefully this will help me get this old loom warped and going.
Hey, me too! Also in the cohort and found this video:)
@@bingbongcentralhq Hi, are you in Taos, NM ? In this Cohort Weaving Group …. If so, hope to meet you at the Stables Gallery for the Weaving show. Are you one of the ‘emerging weavers’? Judy
@@JudyKanthack Yes I am! This is Flor Serna speaking :) see you there!
This was so helpful, Thank-you. Id been trying to figure it out after only seeing two examples, and wasnt sure if i was doing it right or not. Now I better get back to the loom to see if I've managed to absorb the technique properly ;-)
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Just ordered your book.

Came across your weaving instruction, and love the way you teach. will be looking forward to learning more from you.
Maybe I'll see you in a workshop. :)
Hi! Thank you for your video. I'm doing a weft faced wool rug on my loom but I'm dealing with way to much draw in to beat it, I'm using a hand beater, it looks great. But I'm not sure Why the draw in so much. I'm gonna get a temple hopefully soon.
A temple will help a lot. Chances are you aren't putting enough weft in. In other words a bigger "hill" of yarn laid in across the warp.
thank you for your video. Where did you find a shuttle like you are using?
They are all very old and hand made.
This was very helpful!! I couldn’t get the weft to cover the warp but your method works fantastic!! Thank you.
Thanks
This video is absolutely full of great tips! I have a rigid heddle loom but will eventually get a floor loom, it makes so much sense to change sheds then beat! Is it the same principal for a RH loom?
I have almost no experience with rigid heddle looms. I think it probably makes sense to just go to the other shed like we do...
Wonderful videos. May i ask what sett you are using?

Great explanation. Very clear. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Good tips for weaving. Thank you!
this looks pretty inefficient for weaving.
It's what works if you want to do a weft-faced weave. But it is slower by nature than most balanced weaves.
Very helpful!
The addition of this video to the book really brings it all home to me. I have been weaving my angles separate from my selvages because that's the way I was taught. I will definitely be trying this technique out. It makes perfect sense.
thanks for this great video. I would also like to see how to go about adding on the next color.
That's an important concept in Chimayo weaving. I deal with it in the book, A Chimayoweaver's Guidebook, which I will have on hand within the next week or so.
Beautiful people, beautiful work.
