    That was a good presentation. I got to pondering on the topic early this morning. What is the significance of baptism (I understand why we obediently do it, but more specifically where or how does it originate?) I know the jew has a tradition of mikvah baths. Interesting that naaman was healed in the same river that John the Baptist baptised Jesus, same one that had an exodus 2 when the priests carried thearkacross as they went to Jericho, same one that Elijah went to and parted the waters with his mantle cloak

      Thanks, yes there may be connections in some ways with the theme of baptism into Christ (via the Holy Spirit) shown in all of those examples you mention. River Jordan was overflowing all its banks when Joshua crossed over and some say it was in effect a very 'small sea' in some ways - perhaps this links to the Red Sea crossing too... and maybe even Noahs flood. There are many strands that run through scripture that seem to hint at baptism via God's spirit into Christ

    Upon what, will He build His Church? Some say Peter's testimony, others, Peter himself. But I like to embrace a more optimistic interpretation...... I think Jesus is saying that it's NOT upon what has been revealed by flesh & blood.... Rather, by what is REVEALED BY JESUS' FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN.... Just like Jesus said. That His Church is built upon revelation from God. Just like Jesus did it. By SAYING what we HEAR Daddy SAYING & DOING what we SEE Daddy DOING. Amen
