Recipes & Tips for better and more consistent results in the kitchen. Breads and Desserts are my specialties. Many of the recipes I share are based on my Southern cooking style and baking preferences. I love Pies and share lots of these recipes🥧 I also share easy shortcut recipes in my Start with a Mix videos.

This is my "go to" Chocolate Frosting Recipe for Two 8 or 9-inch Layers
5 TBSP Sifted Unsweetened Cocoa
1/2 Cup (1 stick) Salted or Unsalted Butter + 1 TBSP

the transitions between segments and the music go so well together, this is really excellent pacing. you must stop tantalizing me with more maple things! i these short videos are easier to produce and always will get a big reacion like this one. well done.! what did you do with all that butter????
Thank you Eric… yes, this was much easier to produce than a bread video! I think partly bc once you mash all the ingredients together, you’re done! There’s no baking and hoping the end product turns out as well as you want. Sometimes I’m not happy with my baked product and I remake it for the video. I’m a stickler for proper baking to the right amount of time to get a great result. I see so many videos where I know the product was not properly baked, and I don’t want to do that. I feel like I owe it to the audience to show the best end product. I agree the music worked well for this one. I had hopes of publishing prior to the holidays. However, several things happened that prevented me from publishing this one. I still have these in the freezer. So I may decide to do a series of short videos showing how to use each, but that will take a bit of time since I will have to prepare 5 more foods! Maple is one of my favorite flavors too. I had also planned to make maple nut goodie bars prior to the holidays. That did not happen either! It’s because I got sidetracked with the shortbread cookie video that blossomed into something way bigger than I had originally planned! I don’t know why I always wind up doing that…going off on a tangent instead of sticking with my original lineup! Then I run out of time.

Is this panettone? What is the little cardinal inside your big bowl? You know I love dates and also nuts so I’m all over this. Amazing! Omg that caramelized bottom!
Yes, this is essentially the same as Panetone. I also love this sort of thing! My good friend just gave me the batter bowl with the cardinal the day before I made the bread. The outside of the bowl has cardinals and pine cones...we are both bird lovers and she knows how much I love cardinals and when she saw the bowl, she knew it was for me. I actually overbaked this bread by about 10 minutes and was considering not publishing it...but I figured if someone notices, then they'll know to do a better job!

Did not know this...incorporating that much in the dough was crazy, yet after it bakes, it almost seems like it needs more!!! I like the idea of the French toast with egg nog batter! That sounds awesome...I was considering making a Panettone Bread Pudding video after the holidays. The egg nog would really take it up a notch.

Hi Gail! This is such a beautiful bread. Greatly prepared. I never used the whisk, but it is a great idea for a soft dough. I love to work with a soft dough because the bread will be extra soft. I Also I love bread baking videos. I enjoyed watching your method of baking I watched several times to support you. Thanks for sharing! I know this Tuscan coffee bread tasted great! I have difficulty making bread videos...it seems to take so much time and I spent 9 hours editing this one! I probably won't publish any more videos until next year. I have one video in the works, but I don't think I will have time to finish it...Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Great recipe. I made it but had to make some alterations because of bad reactions to wheat and soy (shortening). I used spelt flour instead of conventional wheat and used clarified butter in place of the shortening. I did not have any instant yeast on hand so I used active yeast and bloomed it in the 1 cup of water with two tablespoons of sugar out of the total. They turned out beautifully.
