'The Cotswolds Bigger Brother'
Переглядів 3053 місяці тому
Today was for me personally the toughest physical day on the trail so far. The saving grace however, was that the scenery and vistas were incredible and reminded me so much of my home in the Cotswolds, albeit their more expansive bigger brother! My decision to take the longer, safer, yet more challenging optional 'Ruta Pradela' came at a cost, hence as I arrived in O'Cebreiro after more than 10...

Leaving Molinaseca with an absolutely beautiful sunrise made the tired legs and sore feet a little easier to bear. Today we would be passing through Ponferrada before reaching the sheltered microclimate of Bierzo and its rolling vineyards. Onwards and Westwards I marched toward Villafranca my bolt hole for this evening where I would take an early night as Day 28 was going to be a big day!!!

Day 26 of the Camino Frances represented a significant day as I approached the Cruz De Ferro. Bathed in the early morning warmth of another beautiful sunrise in Northern Spain it was now time to rid some of those burdens before continuing on my journey toward Santiago de Compostela
Camino Frances... 'Can it get any prettier?'

Leaving the charming market town of Astorga reflecting on yesterday's memorable day... 'what would today bring' I thought to myself as I marched purposely onwards towards Rabanal del Camino accompanied by what seemed an endless stream of two wheeled Peregrinos!!!

Day 24 had been without doubt the most memorable day of the entire Camino journey, a rollercoaster of emotions. Join me to find out as I share the highs and lows of my bitter sweet day on the Camino Frances?
Camino Frances - 'A little piece of Heaven'

Leaving Leon on Day 23 it was so nice to be once again in the beautiful Spanish countryside. Taking the more scenic, yet slightly longer route, there were moments where the silence and solitude reminded me why I was here... The walk was delightful as I passed through open scrubland and agricultural farmland. Watching the cattle feast on the lush vegetation took me back once again to my childhoo...
Childhood Memories on the Camino Frances

Leaving Sahagun, my halfway Compostela certificate proudly packed in its protective tube inside my rucksack, little did I know what lay ahead! Meeting up with Neal and Ketsi my two tag team pilgrims since day one on the trail had been wonderful. As we crossed over the Rio Ceas across the picturesque, historical Puente Canto, the sun shone on a beautiful autumnal day as two Spanish fisherman wad...
Crossing the 'Halfway' point on the Camino Frances

A very special day on the Camino Frances as I arrive in Sahagun the halfway point on my incredible journey to Santiago de Compostela. Made all the more memorable as I crossed the bridge into a beautiful oasis where the charming little church of Ermita De La Virgen Del Puente nestles beside the geographical midway point of the Camino Frances... it was truly magical!
Camino Frances, 17th & 18th September - 'Locks, Canals & Two Lovely Fellas'

My journey continues along the trail through landscapes that would take me back to my childhood in rural Gloucestershire. Walking alongside the canals, punctuated with lock gates was so reminiscent of home. These memories complimented with several wonderful days in the company of Peter and Gordon, two top blokes, would further reinforce the richness and beauty of walking the Camino Frances. Sad...

Day 15 & 16 on an already incredible adventure would prove to be two of the most spiritually engaging days of the entire journey. Advancing slowly, one foot in front of the other toward a continuously retreating horizon through endless miles of crop fields. Punctuated with pretty little towns and villages affording a brief respite from the unrelenting sun these two days will stay with me foreve...
BURGOS, a truly magical City

Join me on Day 13 as I continue my journey toward the magical city of Burgos. A beautiful riverside walk into one of the 'Jewels in the Crown' on the Camino Frances. Burgos proved to be the perfect location for a rest day. Visiting the Catedral de Santa Maria was a definite highlight as I soaked in the very essence of the Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage...

Day's 11 & 12 on the Camino Frances would prove to be one of the most memorable experiences of the trip so far. Day 11 a shorter day had been relatively straight forward with glorious weather once again. Day 12 however would be a captivating day of enchanting forests, mystical creatures and a whole lot more?

Hi Michael, Hope you're well, how did your trip go given the weather was pretty awful? I completed JOGLE as per my plan and arrived in LE on 3rd July, definitely the toughest challenge I've ever done made all the more difficult as the weather was terrible for the first week, in fact I really only had 5 sunny days out of the 27!!! Glad you've been able to view the channel... best wishes Gary

Absolutely amazing. I recommend you visit k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place. Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower

Gary loved this installment!! I also have one of those unique and beautiful wax stamps. I’m thinking of leaving mid June God willing for the Camino Frances and walk one more time. It would be my 3rd time. Like you, I find the Camino provides one the opportunity for their heart and head to communicate with little effort and peacefully come to learn answers to questions you hadn’t had the answers to before. I find it such a peaceful and rewarding process. Thank you for taking the time to put these videos together. I love them. Mary Ellen
