does ANYBODY know how to exit the menu in the northridge cam after you hit record? i cannot get the menu to go away, just stays on the screen, blocking half of it
I never tried to record from the camera, sorry i can't help you on that one.
I just bought two gaming monitors which have an identical fault to what's on your video. Backlight works, my PC is recognising the monitor but no picture. One of those monitors worked for about 1 minute, then picture disappeared. I left it overnight unplugged from power and in the morning, I was able to get the picture back for about 1 minute and then it disappeared. It does look like the kind of fault you described in your video. Potentially capacitor discharged itself overnight, then once I plugged the monitor back, it worked for a moment and failed again. I think I will attempt the diagnostics to see if I can bring it back to life.
Also, I noticed that once the picture disappeared, I was not able to see the monitor menu and settings (the one you can control with a joystick behind it). I think it will be a similar sort of fault to whay you had on your one.
Yes it seems to be some of the same symptoms. You can also try to remove the cables going from the TCON down to the panel, this way you can rule out if the panel has shorted. Good luck with your repairs. I look forward to hear good news from you :-)
Project file available?
Not a the moment, but i plan to upload it to my github repository
Nice work, thank you for sharing
@iangrice5511 thank you, glad you liked it
I'm a newbie to PCB design and I was wondering how the traces was done since that part of the video was cut out
They were just routed to experience . You can find a lot of online calculators if you need to design for defined currents
How did you calculate the trace width, cause I'm seeing that some are bigger than others
You and find a lot of online calculators that can help you on this topic
is the audio video still work in progress?
@@wallmachine8780please elaborate?
Alright so you should note on title that this is just a layout/footprint tutorial since you intend to give them schematic to start layout anyway.
I am not 100% sure on what you mean?
I bought it from this guy's link. Got here in 6 days. Blown away! Far beyond my expectations. I've seen the IMX385 in night time surveillance cameras and know it's good for that. Turned off my ring light it was hard to believe what I was seeing. Using 2 IKEA Jansjö goosenecks. I use auto exposure and push up saturation. I don't like auto focus and didn't get that one. OBS for easy zooming in and out. Plugged my phone into the second usb port and it charged! I think it can run a led light.
Thank you for the good pointers, i will try them same.
Love the design! I've always wanted to try combining some designs with the vscoreing and this has pushed me to try it in my next design! Did your pcb manufacturer give you any guff about the multiple designs per board at all?
Thanks and yes you have to discuss with your manufacturer, some see it as individual PCBs
How to make the V-Cut, i couldn't figure this out. I am not a expert, but i am learning.
You just draw a line in a separate layer and send that gerber layer together with the other layers to the PCB manufacturer, You inform the manufacturer to place a VCUT as specified by you
12:00 classic, haha
Yes, that is just typical :-)
Any FPGA breakout ? 😂
That is a good idea, do you have a specific one in mind?
Great project to learn all common interfaces schematic 🎉

Excellent work. This is a great project for new Kicad users who want to practice and have something they can use at the same time. I fly RC airplanes and use the programmable LED's for night flying. A simple board to join multiple strings of LED's comes to mind immediately. Then of course a regulator to break down the 3s or 4s power to 5V DC comes to mind... so many things that can be done with your concept here. Thanks again.
Thank you very much for your interest and kind words, i am glad you find the concept useful
Very nice 👍

@@made.by.morten.laboratories Yes :)
Yep, classic capacitor failure. So manny devices are thrown out because of that kind of failures. Good job, have an amazing day.
Thank you, yes i am glad to keep electronics away from the landfill
@@made.by.morten.laboratories that is great. I did repair couple of stuff in the past and it feels good 😁.
I bought one of the first ones from NRF and it didn't hold up too long. After a few months the battery would only hold a charge for 2-3 days and of course when I needed to use it it was dead. Then it would keep shutting off after 10 secs. after it was charged. Very annoying, Disappointed. My housing would not slide off. Maybe the V2 corrects those problems.
This has not been a problem for the V2 version i have so far. I understand that you are annoyed - its very hard to do RMA on these things ....
It is really worth watching tutorial please make more videos on such boards ❤️
@@ammarece Thank you very much for the kind words, new projects are in the pipeline ...
Per the ESP32 documentation, you likely don't need the two transistors for the DTR/RTS. Just wire them direct.

I didn't get the exact camera you linked from Lapsun. I chose the one with autofocus. Actually, the kit which has the heavy duty articulating arm. It came in at about $670 USD including tax and shipping. I think you are 100% correct that the camera you got is the same one NF is selling. Regarding the autofocus, I like it, but you have to switch to manual after initially focusing on your work, otherwise it will try to refocus on your hand or iron. Still, it makes it easier to use. Camera also works with a wireless mouse. I just happened to have a cheap Logitech mouse I wasn't using. I decided to try it, and it just works. It's nice because I'm right handed, but I have the camera mounted on the left. The wire from the included mouse was just always in the way. The ring light and the camera come with separate power adapters, but both can easily work with the one for the camera. The only thing needed is a 5.5mm x 2.1mm Y adapter, and one polarity reversing cable because the ring light has reversed polarity. Could also just open it up and swap the wires. I also got a short extension cable with an inline switch. There were two 3mm threaded holes on the front of the camera, so I opened the switch, drilled two holes, and mounted it there. Click the switch and the camera and ring light turn on, and the monitor comes on automatically when it detects a signal. I've been doing repair work for years, and this is my first camera microscope. My eyes aren't what they used to be. It is so much easier being able to see while I'm soldering, as opposed to doing it blind and using my phone camera to zoom in and inspect my work.
Thank you so much for the feedback. Great idea with the wireless mouse and cable assembly. I hope that you will enjoy the camera for many future repais :-)
@made.by.morten.laboratories Thank you for the video as well. It was very helpful.
