Just bought this guitar. Overall it is a well constructed guitar and feels good in your hands. My main complaint is that it needs to be plugged in or it will be way too quiet in most environments. Will be returning.
Thanks for the review Robert. Want to buy one too but almost impossible to find one in a local store so online is a good choice. I'm 74 and have only been playing/song writing for a few years. Am used to 43mm electric and acoustic guitar nut widths but am nervous about my ability to cope with the 48mm neck as find playing my 52mm classical guitar, tricky. How do you find it?
Hi , will like to find out if you are the Robert Brain who was in Fontem in the 60ths ? Or you are relationship of his ? I am Fontem Valentine a Prince from Azi palace
Hello Robert, I have just watched your video, regarding the NTX1 Yamaha. I am looking at purchasing one too, but before I go down the road of ordering one, would you please be able give me some measurements of the guitar? I have small hands and I struggle with barring some chords. I purchased a parlour acoustic guitar, it has a narrower neck, which suits me just fine. I would love a cut away nylon string. Please can you give me some measurements. Thank you. Kind Regards Sarah
Robert, thank you for your opinion on this guitar, I just picked one up, my Dad had one ( classic guitar way back in the day ( early 1970s) that I used to play and found its tone comforting. Now in my 60s and playing for way too long, I finally decided to get one. Lots of old memories attached to this one. Oddly, my wife said, no more electric guitars, yes, I am sure I'm in the dog house after it shows up. Thanks for the video and review !
I have had an NTX500 for several years and probably use it more than any other guitar. All Yamaha products do what they are meant to do ... straight from the box ( I ride Yamaha motorcycles ... and still enjoy them at 72 years of age). If you look at my channel on "pete7kcu" you'll see several videos using the NTX. The APX is a superb steel string instrument as well. . What is especially impressive is the sheer range of tone available through an amp. I use a Fender acoustic 100 amp. Enjoy.
Thank you -- but so much more effective had you played it more and praised it less. I still don't know what it's really capable of doing. Just a FYI here.
What would've turned a good review into a great one is if you'd actually played something instead of just a strum. I'm considering one of these but would like to hear a "real person" playing it instead of all these pro setup studio reviews.
El mástil es como el de una acústica o eléctrica, si estás acostumbrado a las clásicas naylon, te tardaras un poco en adaptarte, pero después de un tiempo de jugar con ella, te gustará
Just get one of those last week, play great for a non nylon player and the sound is pretty good too. Plugged it is sounding natural but somehow more precise, love it.
@@darinv_music I can aswer you as I own one, you do loose a little in the bass section and the guitar is acoustically a little quieter, wich is important to consideer if you only want to play it unplugged. But those loss are actually a plus once plugged, because it make the guitar less prone to feedback. You should really think about the purpose this guitar was designed for wich is a easy to play nylon guitar for folk or electric player who need the nylon sound for stage use on a couple of song, and she does that spot on, but this guitar was not designed as a great nylon guitar overall, there is the Yamaha NCX1 for that.
@@nekot9274 what is the action like? I tried a Ibanez and the action was nice and low, but it had sub par fret work and this cause buzzing from the 1st to the 5th fret. Im looking for a classical guitar with low action if that exists. Thanks for any reply.
I'm thinking of buying this exact same guitar, hearing what it sounds like is important...not trying to be a jerk, but more playing and less talking would have been helpful...
Brilliant review Robert, ive been looking for a guitar, as i donated mine to my brother in law - but now guitarless. This looks exactly like what i need!
Thanks Rob. One song please on the ntx1.

Looking good for 71

Great Guitars 🎸 👏
It's played on the left knee with the left foot on a pedal.

Thanks Rob. Informative and quite amusing. Best Kevin

It's so good. I tested it here in Yupangco Music in Manila, PH
no sound demo
Please do a follow up review! Hope you are well!
Hi! Thank you for this fine video! I' ve a question: what is the height of the soudbox? Thank you!
I just broke a string for the first time on my Yamaha NTX1 and need a reserve set. What strings do you use on yours?
Puedes probar las savarez
Good video. I'd have liked to have heard you play the guitar a little more though.
Thanks!!! Good and honest opinion!
I`m full agree, hard to beat the good value of this yamaha nylon !
Hi, does it have truss rood? (I live with lots of climate changes)
Yes.
It would have been useful to hear the tone and learn a little about the neck action, width of neck and conversion from electric to acoustic.
Just made a blind plunge for a NCX3 online too. Blown away as I opened the case by the quality.
sympa mais présenter une guitare sans en jouer ..faut oser!!!
Beautiful 🔥🎸

Great video Robert!
Bleach? Mate cv19 is a scam
You have a natural manner 'on screen'. Thanks for the advice; I was thinking of making a similar purchase [online etc].

cheers Brian might get one now looks and sounds great .

Hi Sir!! How much did you pay for it? Here in Brazil this model is a little bit expensive, probably due to the taxes.
How do you find the neck width compared to a steel string acoustic or electric guitar? Is it easy to change from one to the other?

There's still a hint of Lancashire in your accent, I think.

Does it compromise any sound being acoustic by itself having a thinner body and not plugged into an amp?

The man is sharing a life experience, there is other vids for what you ask for.
the guitar sounds really good, its very soft to play , your fingers will feel more lighter
more video pls
This is a good video but I would've liked to hear you play more.
Maybe he only knows the two chords he played on the video.
Hi! Thanks for the review! Can you post more videos playing your NTX1?
demo some songs with it
Thank you for the review- it was very helpful!
Thank you very much for your video! Was very helpful. I hope you're having fun with the guitar! :) best wishes
