Well said :) Poketubers have been a massive part of my life. And IRL connection and bonding with other fans of the franchise has always been massively relevant. What makes Pokémon good (beyond all I said in the video) is how much of a catalyst it is for the best of human nature. Oh, and Gen 3 is my favorite 😁

Something I don't say in the video is what you're pointing out here. I absolutely agree that the games cannot improve without more time allotted. However, the games have always recycled things from previous games. We are now so many years into the switch, I think there is a stronger foundation moving forward than when they were first getting their footing. I know that can sound absurd looking at how Scarlet & Violet turned out, but I think that game being so embarrassing is the exact reason we aren't hearing any updates now. There is a massive difference between Z-A releasing in January and November. If it's January my hopes won't be as high. But even in that case, this video applies generally and not just Z-A. And if Pokémon is going to take their sweet time making real improvements, that's what the Slumber section is for 😅

Eh, their team isn't that small. Gamefreak and Monolithsoft (who make Xenoblade) were actaully around the same size when Xenoblade Chronicles 2 came out, and the latter is far more ambitious than even SV despite being having the same length of development

First of all, if you’re talking about SV having performance issues, I agree, but most of those glitches were patched out or the more extreme glitches we saw on launch day was from emulation. Second of all, like it or not, Dexxit was is an inevitable and while less excusable for SWSH. SV revamped and/or updated almost all of the models makes it make more sense. And this next point is more of a personal thing, but not all Pokémon being in the game add to kind of hype to game’s announcement like a Super Smash Bros’ rosters. Third of all, that is a very opinionated take, and a lot of people, including me enjoy a bunch of modern Pokémon music. The Ace Academy Tournament theme, Penny’s theme, Leon’s battle tower theme, Ultra Necrozma theme, Route 3 of SWSH, Treasures of Ruin, etc. (art is subjective, but theme are all praised.) Fourth of all, this is a bit of a complicated question. What do you consider postgame? I feel like it’s always been shiny hunting and/or battling other players every post credit reward, leads to those two things. It’s how despite how little “postgame” these games may have player still clock over 100 hours in them. I haven’t even brought up DLC, which counts as post game stuff to do and more stuff to do after you finish it. By the way, what do you mean the DLC JUST finished up in 2024? they finished up in late 2023. Yes there was a January 2024 update, but that stuff was already done when the second DLC drops in 2023. Fifth of all, would the reception from mega evolutions returning for ZA be as big as they were, if they were expanded in gen 7, 8, and SV? The battle gimmick changing each generation made each generation stand out more and weakened the, “every game is the same” argument. And granted, this next point is opinion based, but Tera is a cooler gimmick mechanically then Mega Evolution. Finally, Pokémon games will sell because it’s Pokémon. I will never forgive Game Freak for releasing the game with the issues. It had a launch even though I didn’t experience a quarter of the issues others had. But that doesn’t mean SV has no merits. It’s still 3rd best selling (will most like to beat SWSH for 2nd). 3rd best selling 4 years into the switch’s life. Yes it’s Pokémon but still. I do think Game Freak has learned from this as all the reports to Nintendo tweeting about SV’s performance issues was definitely enough press for them to change things up. Hopefully legends ZA can stick the landing. I will be cautious however, since game development time doesn’t always translate to game quality.

And you really have no proof the glitches were from emulation. Unless you were emulating the game yourself👀. And patching glitches don't really count tbh cause some people don't have internet so they are stuck playing the glitchy mess. And plus the game is still a broken mess with PLENTY of glitches and performance issues. especially the online they never fixed that it still shows constant errors when you try to trade and don't even get me started on how broken tera raids are. Secondly And no it was not excusable at all not even in sv swsh literally had no excuse at all they literally just made the game worse. And sv only gave the pokemon new textures from what I've seen only charizard and mewtwo gotten complete new remodels. Which is good but that's only 2 models lmfao. And "taking out pokemon adds hype to the game like smash bros" i am not going to grace that with a description. Thirdly i am not interested in what pokemon fans nowadays consider "good" and yeah i admit ultra necrozma theme was incredible. But i think you misunderstood me i only started to hate pokemon when gen 8 came out. I kinda liked gen 7 despite it's many problems. And the rest of the music you listed was just mid. And ngl SVs entire soundtrack sounds like they used stock sounds in AI to make it. Actually scratch that if they did it would be a improvement. Fourthly ok you were just straight up wrong about this in every way possible. With how bad they messed it up now with the timers and stuff and with how bad SVs online is + you have to pay for it now the online battling is a real hassle. And the ds and 3ds games had plenty of post game content + better online features. So yeah that's not valid. And the dlc is literally a paywall so i am not counting that as postgame content. Hunting shinies is timeous and boring plus you can just trade for them nowadays anyways. And i am saying they are releasing a new game very close to SVs dlc date which shoes they are rushing things again. Fithly, and i was saying if they keep making lazier and lazier gimmick than it would be better if they just stuck to megas. Because making your pokemon bigger and turning them into crystals is very lazy and boring compared to your pokemon getting a entirely sick new design new stats and new ability. And sometimes a new typing ON TOP of that. I wouldn't mind if they replaced megas with a ACTUAL polished and fun gimmick. Not some slop they scripted in a few weeks. And finally actually you are right pokemon will sell good regardless of it's quality. And yeah SV has some redeeming factors like giving pokemon news textures and making the animations well uh not as bad as gen 8. but for every good thing it does it does 10 bad things. Tbh the only really good thing i can say about modern pokemon is how easy they made it to make your pokemon competitive. Though removing permanent TMs was a wrong step but still. And no gamefreak has not learned anything. We literally have just gotten the SV dlc last year in December and we are getting LEGENDS ZA next year. Even if it releases late next year that's just 2 years of development time away from SV. you can't make a good polished 3D game in the span of just 2 years. And actually time is what they do need to make a good pokemon game. That's prettymuch the thing holding them back well that and greed. But atleast megas will come back so i can see my snake boy mega rayquaza in HD cause ngl I've missed him. So atleast i have that to look forward to. unless they somehow screw up mega evolutions like they did ash greninja and just make them a stat boost cause in that case i am not buying the game and i am sending a not nicely worded email to gamefreak headquarters myself.

And interacting with the community surrounding a game instead of interacting with the game itself is dreadful. First of all, you’re right, I don’t have any proof that it was emulated glitches, but I did play the game, the intended way on switch hardware. I’ve been told in other comment sections that they apparently were, which I’m inclined to believe as I see there no videos on how these glitches happens or how to do them and the videos and images of the SV glitches seem very third party sourced. If you have a video or something explaining these insane glitches, please provide a link, have been searching for the truth and continue to. Anyways, continuing on, no I’m not saying there are no performance issues and may I add visual issues with SV. As someone who still plays the game today I can’t recall any broken glitches I have experienced in recent times. As for the online stuff I do trade sessions every so often and I don’t have any problems, but I can’t speak on online raids because I don’t trust people. Wait, who has access to a Nintendo Switch that they can charge and stuff and not access to the Internet? I don’t know, so please shed light on it. Secondly, Dexxit is SWSH was bad, correct. Moving on, Persian is another one they got a model update. But there are some minor updates with other Pokémon. I’d be remiss to mention the textures added to all of Pokémon, the fur and metal especially, and some new and updated animations to most Pokémon like swimming and battle stances. And you have yourself a DESENT excuse for Dexxit in SV. No, I’m not gonna respond to the last sentence, because I did say it was my opinion. Thirdly, again art is subjective, but it does become more of a fact of art being good the more people agree on it. And I think I know why do you think SV sounds basic. Because the providence themes north east south and west are all adaptive music that change whether you’re in battle, on your ride Pokémon, or off your ride Pokémon. They become less stand out memorable and more so ambient. Again, again, art is subjective so I can’t just say “you’re wrong lol”. But to imply they didn’t even try is pretty disingenuous. Fourth, I do think the timer is too short, but I understand if you’re getting timer stalled and if you run you lose the reason for the shorter timer. I don’t think SV’s fault for Nintendo switch online. That’s fair to not count DLC as though I see it more so third version anyways. I don’t know how two years after the DLC finishing up is rushing things. Legend ZA is coming out most likely fall/winter 2025 and the SV DLC was finished up in winter 2023, keeping in mind half the team is probably already working on ZA while the other half with working on the SV DLC. Fifthly, yes mega evolution is cool. A gimmick only 50 Pokémon get to engage with. But I digress, I don’t have a defense for Dynamax but Tera while simple gimmick provide so much creative freedom. Giving every Pokémon the ability to have STAB on an extra type or a x2 damage bonus on their existing type OR use it for defense to throw off your opponent. I agree with you mostly on the last two paragraph. Except with the 10 things wrong for every 1 thing right ratio. (But that’s just the opinion of the game.) And development time thing that I would respond to higher up. I guess I’m just more optimistic then you and that’s fine. So I’m good to agree to disagree. Someone in the Pokémon fandom would never say that lol.

Crystal was my first game :) It has a very special place in my heart.

Pokémon was dropping gems when they had no competition. I definitely think other franchises pushing them to do better is healthy, but the games being good is up to them regardless. You could very well be right and they don't improve, we'll see.

Do we have confirmation that they were made to? I know it's possible, I just phrased it that way because their name is on the project. Thanks for the feedback, I'll work on making audio more consistent next time

@@secretvillageYeah overseen by Masuda throughout the whole thing despite the lack communication or attention brought to it. They had ILCA just facilitate the recreation of the game using the same fundamental code.

There are definitely a lot of dynamics that start mattering differently with 4 players, but yeah it's the closest thing I've found that embodies the spirit of the early game while still playing with new cards
