considering that most lifeforms need sunlight either directly or indirectly, another way mankind could have won (not only against navi, but against most ground-based non-phongic lifeform of pandora at once) would have been as simple as producing some relatively thin umbrella big enough to cause a shadow on pandora (and using some trigonometry with the sun and stuff, you could actually make it much smaller than the diameter of the astral body you wanna plunge in shadow by making the said umbrela closer to the source of light. in the same way as if you put your finger close to a lamp, it project a shadow against the wall that is significantly bigger than said finger) this method would have required absolutely zero direct combat, zero shot fired, zero weaponry, and not even a particularly sharp understanding of pandora's geography or ecosystem. just go build a giant space umbrella (i believe a scy fy mankind who can travel at more than 70% the speed of light can probably make a giant umbrella in space and synchronise it's orbit rate with that of the astral body you wanna cover) and then wait for few years , to give time to every single photosynthesis plant to fail, causing a cascade-effect of ecological failure. and then, in this world now almost dead and plunged in darkness, you can peacefully disembarq and start to work (and if anything hostile remain, darkness mean that mankind's night-vision devices gonna give a clear edge)
