WyeDean Stages Rally 2024 Impreza Wagon Car 23
A short roundup of our 2024 WyeDean Stages Rally in our Subaru Impreza Wagon Rally Car.
As it was our local event, we drove there and back!
We can never afford to test so spent the first couple of stages with a car that was trying to throw us off the road.
Apologies for the sweary video but it was the last loop of stages and I was fed up of the chicanes and we had been queuing longer than usual so the tyres were cold and I overshot almost all the first few corners!
Thanks to all the people who post videos of us after a rally. I have used a number of them for this compilation...

The WyeDean Rally was not kind to us this year. We hit a rock hidden in the undergrowth about 3 miles into Stage 1, breaking a front left wheel and we spun out. Haven't uploaded anything for a while but this montage from Race and Rally Photos is too good not to share! Had an absolute Blast and finished 20th Overall and 5th in Class with Gravel Suspension and Brakes :)

So here's a different perspective of our short-lived Nicky Grist Rally using the roof vent as the main camera. For some reason, the colours from the camera were not as good but it gives a different perspective.

Rather a short Nicky Grist Rally for us yet again! A small hose split causing overheating on the first stage as you can see! Thanks to Russell Joseph for Co-Driving, plus Kev Goulding, Peter Fitzgerald & Nigel Baldwin for attempting to keep us going! Maybe next year?

Sadly had to retire from the Rally after hurting my back landing after a crest on Stage 4. Over a year later I discovered I had fractured a vertebrae but they missed this during the initial X-Ray. No wonder it hurt!

This was the last stage on the 2105 Cambrian Rally with my Co-Driver Russell Joseph who tells me this is our last event :( We were delighted to finish 17th Overall on this stage, beating some WRC Cars in our Subaru Impreza Wagon. I think you enjoyed it Russ! I'm afraid that only the 'Dash Cam' was working by this stage. #RealEstate

@@garybollands Thanks for keeping your rallying experience documented mate, I'm saving to buy a 97 impreza and need ideas/tips for inexpensive rally parts. What are some of the common issues to look out for in these when buying? And could you suggest some bare minimum/inexpensive upgrades for getting the car prepped for a rally (just for learning at a rally school)?
The weird backwards stage notes are messing with me.
Do you mean the 1 to 9 Numbering system? I prefer to use this system as I can quickly interpret the number to equate to degrees (i.e. 6 Right = 60 Degree Right-Hand Bend, which is tighter than a 3 Right = 30 Degree Right)
did you get winded or was it just a painful landing
Compressed all the discs in my back on landing. I was trying to work out if I could still move my arms and legs but was in so much pain I couldn't speak! Rally stopped and I w`s taken to hospital on a spinal board. XRay showed no breaks so hopefully all ok.

Pretty much fine now thanks but I must admit that it did hurt at the time! Out again on the WyeDean next month so I will find out if my back is up to it then! Thank you for your concern. Gary.
