I was on VLIP going to BGI. We had medical emergency and turned back and landed at Lajes in the Azores. Ended up with an overnight stay!. Some spotters took photos of our departure from Lajes. It's a shame these 747s have to retire.

the lion air b747, was that famous one that kept breaking down? i was only 10years old at the time but can remember all whats in this vid like it was yesterday, the things that stick in your mind. this is the period where we were just going from the very noisy and polluting b737 200s, dc9s, bac 1-11s to the new chapter aircraft. its great to see the orion a300 in the clip, the orion colour scheme is quite unique and the vast fields behind which is now T2 and the vast apron, with todays 29million passengers they would be no room whatsoever with the apron and terminals you see in the vid!
