Joy Division - In A Lonely Place (Remastered)
Переглядів 1,5 тис.6 місяців тому
Released to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Unknown Pleasures; Joy Division's debut album. This is my attempt at cleaning up the original rehearsal Joy Division recording of In A Lonely Place from May 14, 1980 - 4 days before the suicide of the lead singer Ian Curtis. This is the last recording of Ian's voice before his death. The recording never got proper studio treatment and we have been l...

This is a combination of the two live recordings we have of Warsaw in 1977, which renamed to Joy Division by 1978. There is a recording of Novelty at the Electric Circus gig, but there were technical difficulties with the recording and it has not been publicly released. 0:00 - Reaction, Rock Garden, 14th September 1977 3:30 - Inside the Line, Rock Garden, 14th September 1977 6:26 - Leaders of M...
Every Filmed Joy Division Performance
Переглядів 3,9 тис.7 місяців тому
This is a compilation of every Joy Division performance which we have video of. It does not include the televised performances which can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/vd8yQE4S6pQ/v-deo.html It also does not include the footage of She's Lost Control from Bowdon Vale Youth Club; this is because that footage has been copyrighted on UA-cam. I'm unsure when this happened or if it is legitimate, bu...
Every Televised Joy Division Performance

This is a compilation of every time Joy Division appeared on television, mainly for my own listening use. Only the last two on BBC's Something Else were broadcast across all of the UK - before that, they only appeared locally on television in the Northwest of England. 00:00 - Shadowplay, Granada Reports, 20th September 1978 Only broadcast in the Northwest, and my personal favourite. Peter Hook ...

those goth letters on the black guitar are very suspicious
bitter sweet germa
They were so ahead of their time ……. The music is just so great to listen to …..live is always the best way to see a band and this is as close as we can get ….. thank you for sharing
Esto fue hace 44 años 💀
Fly high Jermaine. I know it's been 25 years now, and the anniversary is just a few days away, but I will always remember.
GREAT BUT DRUGS DESTROY
What relevance does that have?
The last song is sped up, the original recording isn´t that quick
I've compared the last part in my video to various other uploads of the same recording and I can't see what you're talking about. But I'm not very perceptive, so that doesn't say much.
Joy Division could never have been big as so many people lament - Ian Curtis made Joy Division what it was but as we all read from the experts, he was a self-troubled person and so could never lead a long life; that would be a contradiction! Whenever I think about ending it all I turn to both Robert Smith and Ian Curtis - thankfully (like Robert Smith) I've never suffered epilepsy - but the emotion of Ian Curtis gives me strength, both video recordings and just audio. And as an addition, let's not forget all the others - New Order illustrates just how amazing they all were!
Still so influential today, and they were 100% of their time.
Hook was known for his bassist lines, and so was Sumner. Ian being Ian. But people hardly credited Steve Morris.
I know these guys were great, they really had something, but you have to say their basic musicianship is a bit ropey (at least here). I guess when you got it that's not so important. I don't got it, and my basics are bad. But at least I got a day job.
@@ThomasCoryate They were a bunch of self-taught kids and troublemakers just doing what they wanted. Not terribly surprising that the technical stuff is sub-par, but it arguably makes it better. Funny part is, they never got that much better in New Order.
It's a shame you didn't use the Effenaar footage as it was indeed filmed and televised on a Dutch TV show in Feb 1980.
@@canadariots1139 I can't find any evidence or information on such an occurrence. Perhaps it is because it was on Dutch television which may be more obscure, but as far as I know the Effenaar footage did not surface until 1982 with the Here Are the Young Men video. Given the film quality and circumstances, I personally doubt the footage would have been televised.
Miracle Ian didn’t topple off that platform during Shadowplay.
Awesome . Ahead of their time .
Is that Bob Greaves? Just imagine kids today only had 3 tv channels. You got home from school and after local news Joy Division 😂😂😂
A drum machine playing a trap set...with a drum machine. Morris is a LEGEND.
You'd be a fool to think Interpol isn't a JD ripoff band.
1st generation uk punk
they were so futuristic for their time
Steven morris one of the drumming greats
She’s lost control (something else performance) a little glimpse into Ian’s world.
Joy division has a nicer ring to it lol
Fucking love this, and Stephen Morris is a Fucking legend 👏
Enjoyed the presenter reference
The Who's punk transmission transposed 15 years from 1964 with another mad drummer
Rip Ian Curtis what a unique and tight band Joy Division were 😆😉.
i was a second semester sophomore at florida state when i heard of ian curtis' suicide on wfsu 88.9 FM (npr classical & alternative), just before their first american tour - at least his mates carried on as New Order
Sensacional

Joy Division was meant for GenX teens/20 somethings in Early-mid 1990s

Credit to the late Tony Wilson for putting them on tv . He was billed as Mr Manchester for his enthusiasm in the Manchester music scene over many years .
This is my favorite video on the internet
Precious moments
Touching from a distance
14 minutes. And half of that has Tony waffling in as usual😅😅
Oof that dang drumming is extraordinary. It's like emotional clockwork. I love it
Es que me encanta su musica..

This is amazing especially for someone who discovered Joy Division about 1981 and I can tell you all that here in America it was like a prize treasure hunt to find anything recorded on vinyl by Joy Division - you had to go very carefully through import sections or ask the owners of the record shoppe to special order and then it took a long time. There was no Amazon or cell phone technology just a few decades ago. Just happened to randomly find this on a Sunday morning while sipping coffee and I can’t quit watching!! And consequently I was literally just trying to play along to atrocity exhibition last night on the drum set and it is very difficult to play (and I’m a very good drummer) I noticed on Colony Stephen doesn’t play the part that he plays on the record - it’s actually very difficult to execute.
Also a drummer, I do black metal.. some JD drum riffs are even harder than average black metal drum riffs, and many are about as hard. Never got how Morris was able to pull them off so well.
Thank You Ian, and Thank You Tony
If only the special effects weren't added.
So sad that there's so little film/video of Joy Division. Even sadder that we didn't get to see what more they could do. I have faith that Joy Division would have been even more interesting and influential over time. Thanks so much for uploading this. I saved it, so you'll probably get quite a few views from me
Heartbreaking I still find it too emotional ❤
*MAS QUE F0D4444444444...MANÒÕÔÕÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔ...*
Cest fou ils ne savais pas jouer de la guitare 😂
you need a better band, but I bow
Epilepcy can be horrid Its medicarion has effected me all my life emotionally. This lifestyle should never have been an option for Ian . Study into the mental illness hasnt really come far from the 70s....
