    Emig fed the blocks back to McGrath. Love it. When Jeremy blocked anyone out the commentators would say “oh he’s so aggressive and out smarts other riders, he can ride so technical and break everyone down”, when emig would block pass jeremy especially they’d say “yep typical emig” or “dirty riding”. Favoritism played a big role in McGrath career. Everyone else just had to work that much harder

    There's something fascinating about this from my perspective as a religious individual (Jewish). My justification for my beliefs is "I know its crazy, but it makes me feel better". I think there's nothing wrong with believing what you believe, Pastafarianisnm is a recognised religion where I live. But if you preach it on the street corner or try to convert people, especially in London, you are definitely crazy, if only because you believe Londoners will listen to you.

    • @Zripas
      @Zripas Рік тому

      Issue isint what you believe, issue is what you will do with your beliefs. And yes, your beliefs will effect your actions and your actions will effect people around you. Some of us actually cares what is actually true, you by the looks just want to believe in anything what makes you feel good independent if its true or not, which is quite dangerous, but well, you do you.

  • @madsvestergaardandersen5640

    I might be reading too much into it, but the whole "She gives birth to you, not me *wink wink*" is approaching the explanation about how God is The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit as explained by Christian tenets, but simultaneously The Father is not The Son or The Holy Spirit, The son is not The Father or The Holy Spirit, and The Holy Spirit is not The Father or The Son, and yet somehow all of these are God.

  • @studfinderball

    I'm a believer. I believe the human race, an inferior sentient species, NEEDS religion to survive. If we were all atheists we wouldn't be here. But we do need atheists like Maher to chide the believers when they take it too far, like crazy Cruise.

    Bill is funny ... but his theological attacks are not even two dimensional ... they're one dimensional. It makes for fun watching (to hear him rant) but it doesn't make for truly compelling discourse.

    • @Zripas
      @Zripas Рік тому

      I mean, its funny enough for none believers and anything more complicated than 1 dimension will fly over theists heads anyways, so no need to over do it.

    • @kdmdlo
      @kdmdlo Рік тому

      @@Zripas Well, I'll push back a little on that. I am a theist (though not formally trained in the subject) and have read large swaths of the Bible, early Church fathers, and many theistic philosophers/theologians (think Augustine, Aquinas, Pascal, von Balthasar, Rahner, etc.). I've also read some of the serious atheists (think Nietzsche, Feuerbach, Sartre, Camus, etc.), as well as the not-very-serious modern atheists (Dennett, Harris, Dawkins, etc.). Bill - while I find him quite funny - pretty clearly falls in that last category. He's more interested in making a splash via mockery, rather than trying to lay down the framework of a serious, intellectually rigorous argument. This is, of course, just my opinion.

    • @Zripas
      @Zripas Рік тому

      @@kdmdlo Isint this is his entire point? If you want serious debate on this topic then Maher isn't the one you should be talking with. He is here for the show, for the comedy, and comedy needs to be simple and not require you to have 5 PhD's to be understood. And, Maher looks at religions quite critically, religions to him are absurd and he isn't trying to go with some deep meaning comments on those, again, wrong guy for it. And just to clarify, I might have needed to indicate that it will fly over most theists and not all of them, not saying that theists are incapable of understanding, just that theists dont want to understand it due to their brainwashing.

    • @kdmdlo
      @kdmdlo Рік тому

      @@Zripas Two quick comments. First, I have never heard Bill talk about religion seriously. Look at Religulous, as an example. That's not to say he can't talk more intelligently, but I've never heard him do so. Again, he is in that "unserious atheist camp". Second, your comment about it flying over theists heads was a dig at theists. You didn't say it flys over the heads of most people (meaning theists AND atheists) ... you pointed to the theists, as though they're generally uninformed. And, of course, some are. But so are many atheists. That's all. And, not for nothing, but thanks for having a respectful exchange. Peace, brother.

    • @Zripas
      @Zripas Рік тому

      @@kdmdlo Different people approach this topic differently, in Maher instance, well, he doesn't give a f**k and will ridicule ridiculous idea without sugar coating. Just imagine most ridiculous idea you can come up in your head, then imagine that majority of people around you live by following this idea like it would be a fact and try to imagine having serious conversation about it, it doesn't really work, isn't it? At best you will be frustrated beyond belief that you have to even talk about it with serious face. And yes, it was a dig at theists, but... To be fair, zero theists can provide sound and valid argument for their belief in their god, so it's not like I'm 100% wrong here or something, it was just exaggeration of actual reality. Theists tend to dismiss everything what is against their beliefs, factual or not, if it against then it will be dismissed without even thinking about it, it happens automatically for them, without any thinking, just boom and dismissed. This is why it would fly over their heads by default as it would be against their belief system which gets dismissed automatically. Yes, theists are generally uninformed in comparison to atheists. It's really common to see atheist who knows more about theists religion than theist himself, not even talking about other topics. It's just basic reality we live in at this point. There is a reason why most common reason for theist deconversions is actually reading their holy books, they simply believe it because they been made to believe it. And yes, some atheists are dumb and uninformed and so on, but i'm here talking about averages. Like for example, majority of flat earthers are religious, but majority of religious are not flat earthers. While you could find atheist who believes in flat earth, it will be tiny portion which isn't even worth mentioning. P.S. In general i'm more like Maher here, I dont give a f**k and will say it as it is without sugar coating. Reality is harsh, reality doesn't give a f**k what you believe to be true, something is true independent what you believe, which means that we have to filter out as many false beliefs as possible to have best possible outcomes which will require us to actually care about actual reality and not some made up one based on some old books from bronze age.
