    You didn’t count the number of turns when you put tension on the springs using both winding rods and counting number of 1/4 turns.

    Thank you sooo much for your detailed cable replacement, you are the only page I could find that would replace the cable when the door is down, there's no way I could lift my door up and replace it the way every other channel shows.. thx !!

    What if it's stuck down from the outside? It's off track one cable came off. Can you on the side cut engaged cable to release the door to even out. Can't do it from inside have no access from home. It's a condominium garage. It's manual with a key not a motor. Can I enter along side slit and cut the cable that's attached to open the door to repair. Than you! Also how much will this cost estimate me if I can't do it myself? 😢 I can see that one cable is not on. Can I cut the other to even and open??? 🙏🏾

    I just had my garage door adjusted. It seemed that the technician was very aggressive in tightening the springs - 36 quarter turns. So tight that the new position was 3" shorter than the previous setting. He also tightened the bolts that attach the spring to the rod well beyond what seemed necessary ( I viewed a video that said to not overtighten them as it distorts the rod.)

    So the tension part should be in the middle of the door? My cable busted on one side and the tension part is all the way to one side.

    • @superiorgaragedoorrepair672
      @superiorgaragedoorrepair672 5 місяців тому

      Yes, the tension spring should generally be centered above the garage door to ensure even distribution of weight and proper functioning. If the cable broke on one side, it can cause the tension to shift and the spring to move out of alignment.

    Too bad the manufacturer doesn't give specific torque specs on drum and spring set screws...fewer over or under torques...but then meh must not be that hard to get right without a torque wrench

    Why would you ever put a shorter spring if it doesn't last as long? Why not put the longer spring that lifts the same weight? Cost difference?

    In my profession, when on a call for a "service/repair". It's policy to replace the cables, do not install the kinked & frayed cables back on. Otherwise another service call soon... Great info video😁

    Cable clamp left side with a come along and lower door while some one kind of keeps the right side level if you don’t have some one use a second come along NEVER EVER EVER PUT A DOOR DOWN HOW THESE MORONS DID VERY DANGEROUS

  • @skidmoro9642
    @skidmoro9642 Рік тому

    nah...much easier method...no drum release required..raise the loose cable side higher than the tension side..rewind cable on drum..lower , then check balance..use a piece of cardboard not to damage the wall with vise grip, too

      I was looking for this comment so I didn't have to write it. ❤ Everyone has their own methods but the fastest way is just rewrapping the drum without loosening this set screws for sure!

    • @Gregg349
      @Gregg349 5 днів тому

      Same concept. You just take the tension off of the spring when the door is down and replace or rewind cables. Then put the tension back on the single spring.

    Don't work on the drums in either position. You're going to get someone hurt bud, not all springs are 225s 🤏🏻

      What I did since my door was almost shut but tilted a little. Wife and I evened it out and then pushed it up, then viced grip guide rail to keep it up. Then I just re-wrapped the cable around spool. Also, I fixed my open and close adjustment since I was told that when power goes out it can reset and cause problems. That helped a little but I'm still worried I'm causing harm to my nice motor since it doesn't operate as smoothly as it use to. She needs an expert to tweak or I might just upgrade my ancient spring.

    My right side cable keeps un-spooling from drum. I fixed once and it did it again today. Should I push garage all the way up evenly and then lossen both spools and then tighten them up? Or do I need to re-spool and then look at tightening my torsion spring? Can't figure out what's causing this cable to keep unspooling

    • @robertrunion2957
      @robertrunion2957 Рік тому

      Don't listen to this guy.. you're going to get hurt 🤕 If your door is up on one side while down it's definitely off. Not sure if you're knowledgeable enough to fix your problem. Take an 18" hardened steel 1/2" rod in the spring hole an loosen the 7/16 12 point bolts... Be Careful, the rod will want to pull downward in most common cases. It's dangerous an depending on your location very strong. After loosing the spring's, tighten the left side cable, tighten the bolts an lock it off an vice grip the outside of the tube so that cable is tight. Then do the same on the right side cable that should be loose at this point. Tighten it then add a quarter turn back to each spring an tighten the bolts on them. Slowly open the door watching for any problems. Remember a 16 x 7 could weigh around 300 lbs depending on your location

      @@BigHomie030clamp right side of garage door just a bit higher than the left side. This will allow you to rewrap the cable that came off the drum. You should have just enough slack using this method. Will save you a ton of time as well.
