Post-Transcriptional Modifications
Переглядів 1803 місяці тому
In prokaryotes, mRNA translation begins even before transcription is complete, indicating immediate gene expression. Conversely, eukaryotes regulate gene expression by storing mRNA in the nucleus until it's needed for protein synthesis, requiring mRNA to undergo post-transcriptional modifications before its export to the cytoplasm. These modifications include- 1:19 Capping - Adding a protective...
Transcription
Переглядів 3657 місяців тому
Transcription is a fundamental process in molecular biology where the genetic information encoded in DNA is converted into RNA molecules. The resulting RNA molecule, known as messenger RNA (mRNA), carries the genetic information from the DNA to the ribosomes, where it serves as a template for protein synthesis. In this video, I'll be discussing.... 1. What is transcription? 2. What are the diff...

The Meselson and Stahl Experiment: Understanding DNA Replication
Переглядів 2 тис.Рік тому
Meselson and Stahl conducted an experiment in the 1950s to understand the process of DNA replication. Their experiment, known as the "most beautiful experiment in biology," was designed to answer the question of how DNA replicates despite its complex double-helix structure. The experiment was notable for its logical and simple design. To learn more about the experiment, continue watching the vi...

Hershey-Chase Experiment

The Hershey-Chase experiment put an end to a long debate on whether DNA or protein is the genetic material. Through this experiment using T2 bacteriophage, it was finally concluded that DNA is the genetic material, not protein. Keep watching this video, to know how this experiment was performed. Watson and Crick are glorified secretaries in nice suits. Watson in particular, though both in general, are the lowest form of human leech. They did nothing more than republish the actual scientific discoveries of Rosalind Franklin and others, genuine scientists. All that Watson and Crick did was collate this work, like a cheap office printer. Their names should be removed from textbooks.

      The two strands of DNA are chemically bonded together by hydrogen bonds. These bonds hold the two strands of the molecule together.

    The data was accumulated at King's, by Franklin, Wilkins and others. The means by which Watson and Crick are known for the structure are clearly set out in Wilkins' autobiography (2003 Oxford University Press) "The Third Man of the Double Helix".

    In the video you had said that Flemming established that chromosomes contain the transforming principle. How did he come to that conclusion?

    • @biologywithannie
      @biologywithannie 2 роки тому

      Flemming's contribution was the discovery of chromosomes in dividing cells. It was actually Morgan Hunt who established that genes are on chromosomes in a very elaborate experiment using drosophila as a model system. I'll be eventually doing a full video on it. So stay tuned. Thanks for the comment.

    I just wanted to point out that in a clinical diagnostic centre, real-time PCR is performed where the PCR products are analysed in real time as the reaction proceeds. I have used agarose gel electrophoresis as an example so that it is easier for a beginner to understand.
