Does a #DoorwaySpell have to be a charm?
At the beginning of the month, the wonderful @TheWitchOfWonderlust , along with other creators, launched a collaboration on the #DoorwaySpell tag. Since I really enjoy making fun tag videos from time to time, I decided to provide a slightly different perspective to bring your attention not only to the specific way healing magical practices are carried out in the Balkans but also to an often-overlooked “ingredient” in spellwork - ritual place.
I hope you'll find the information I share interesting and useful :) Don't forget to check out the tag #doorwayspell here on UA-cam and also on Instagram!

#14 Moonlit geomancy and sun soaked herbs
Переглядів 104Місяць тому
How's your summer going? This past month has been full of interesting experiences as I’m learning to be more mindful and attentive to my surroundings. I had the joy of visiting the sea and welcoming the June full moon on the beach with my own rendition of the Orphic hymn to Selene. June is a special month, with the Summer Solstice marking the time when herbs are believed to have the most potent...
#13 Setting up my altar anew
Переглядів 2742 місяці тому
I've recently altered the course of my spiritual journey and disassembled my previous altar. Now, the time has come to construct it anew. The new image of my goddess, commissioned from a talented local artist, will finally find its rightful place. Over the years, I've created numerous altars, so this process isn't new to me. I have only one altar at a time because I use it for both devotional a...
#12 Dancing with the witches once again // Wicked Walpurgisnacht 2024
Переглядів 9183 місяці тому
At the end of April, I travelled to the woods of Bavaria to join some witches for Walpurgisnacht. I didn’t know anyone, but I took a chance because I needed my faith in the community restored. I've followed Bex's channel, @Thewitchescookery, for some time and knew about the past retreats and the praise they received, so I had high expectations for my time in Bavaria. We gathered herbs in the gr...
#11 A fine day for a banishing
Переглядів 2054 місяці тому
It might seem a little counter intuitive to do a banishing in a wonderful day, you've spent in laughter with your family. But sometimes one great day is all it takes, to be reminded that life is precious and finite, so one does not have to put up with the bitterness of people that treat them badly. Especially when one has skills in spellcasting. Join me, as I contemplate the benefits of spendin...
My rather nuanced take on the #occultea

Not so long ago, a couple of online witchcraft creators - @polishfolkwitch , @theredheadedwitch and @EllaHarrison - came with the concept of a challenge, that spills the tea on different topics. I think the idea is great and while I may be contributing a bit later, I think this specific conversation should be continued for as long as there is online witchcraft "community". My take is kind of nu...

When I came across @IvyTheOccultist 's video introducing the #12DaysofYule challenge, I felt an instant pull to participate. For years, I've observed people engaging in intriguing challenges, and I've always yearned to join in on the fun. Winter is a season where contemporary pagans and witches often delve into history to find celebrations that resonate beyond Christian traditions. However, for...
#8 Decluttering my magic

I recently noticed that the drawer where I’ve hidden most of my magical ingredients from my small child is just a mess. I have several places where I keep ingredients, but I realised that many of them are items that are easily available to me. So, why keep them? And if I keep them, why don’t I use them? In this video, I hope to offer a reflective view on hoarding witchy items, and the importanc...
#7 Washing the Sickness Away: A Simple Healing Bath
Переглядів 4710 місяців тому
In the past week, I found myself battling an illness, and I'm happy to share that I've successfully overcome it. As I continue on my journey to recovery, I've decided to give my healing process an extra boost by taking a simple yet powerful healing bath. However, I've noticed that much of the online content around this topic doesn't provide clear instructions for those of us who don't have the ...
#6 Embracing transformation on my spiritual journey

An essential aspect of change is embracing the notion that transformation is a positive force. After navigating through a tumultuous period, I successfully initiated several changes and integrated beneficial practices into my life. Yet, I sensed that there was one more crucial step to take-clearing my mind and soul, eliminating the stagnant energy from my ritual space, and distancing myself fro...

#4 Cleansing my space
Переглядів 83Рік тому
A good basic part of traditional magical practices is cleansing or purification. While many practitioners today would separate these terms, I believe both serve the same purpose: to remove all unwanted energies from a person, or from a space. * * * Lovely font for the title of the channel is Drumnik by Fontfabric.
#3 Clearing my mind

Sometimes our mind crumbles under the pressures of modern day life. It is in these times, when I try and reconnect with nature and the elements. Sometimes we fail, sometimes we succeed, but the important thing is - to try. * * * Lovely font for the title of the channel is Drumnik by Fontfabric.
#2 Tools of the healer, tools of the witch
Переглядів 203Рік тому
In Balkan folklore a healer and a witch are two very different figures. It is believed that one works towards the benefit of society, while the other - towards its demise. But they both use magical tools and sometimes even the same magical tools, which makes them more similar than we care to admit. * * * Lovely font for the title of the channel is Drumnik by Fontfabric.

Very nice and helpful! Thank you a lot for sharing! As a modest contribution, I give an example of another Balkan spell: Седи урок на прагу, урочица* под прагом. Што урок урече, урочица одрече. * in this context, an instrument against урок/urok (evil eye, curse)

Thank you for sharing! ❤️ Is this to be said over the person or is there any other specific action, related with the incantation? 😊

@@TalesOfBalkanMagic This, of course, depends on the circumstances and is subject to adaptation in the modern context, but it is traditionally a formula intended to remove the curse from the person over whom a small ritual is performed, involving specially prepared water and hot coals that are extinguished in the water. Such water usually needs to be immediately sipped three times by the cursed person in order for the ritual to work. But it is clear that the chant contains an extremely strong symbol (the threshold as the most important magical place in the home), so that the spell is effective against the evil eye.

Oh, yes! The coal estinguishing is a really good one, we have that here as well. It is a nice ritual that unifies the elements to rearange the cosmos and bring back the health to the person. Thank you, once again, for sharing!

Devotion to Hekate is a great blessing! It is a powerful and diverse tradition that stretches from archaic Mesopotamian Ereškigal and Anatolian Sun Goddess of the Underworld, through classical Greek Hekate (Apotropaia, Chthonia, Enodia, Phosphoros, Trioditis...) and Roman Diana (Trivia), all the way to the Three-Handed Mother of God, primarily revered among South and Eastern Slavs in more recent centuries. Kudos to the very appropriate decoration of the altar area! Of course, huge respect for the homemade strawberry jam.

Thank you so much! I'll probably change a lot on the altar, but I really enjoy this part because there's no set rules, your altar changes as you change. Honestly, the patterns are probably from some trendy magazine for housewives from the '80s 😄 But yes, all types of traditional embroidery have meaning behind them. Usually those are simple things, that are universal, like a solar cross, flowers for abundance or some protective symbol. Truth is the genuine traditional embroidery varies not only from country to country, but from one region to the other, from one village to the other and even from house to house (because not everyone can master embroidery, even back in the past). It's very interesting, because at some places different families had different patterns, so when you see the apron of a woman - you know whether she's your cousin or not. 😏 Hope your jam turns great! I'm rarely successful in mixing fruit in jams, but I trust in you! 🥰

Oh, wow! I think you'll have the best of time in our mountains! I would advice you search for a villa in the Rhodope mountains, since it is high, but not so high; there are a lot of villages scattered around; the people are very friendly; and we all believe they've unlocked the secret to eternal life, since it seems like they all tend to live at least to 90 years 😁 Of course the Stara Planina (Balkan mountain) region is great, too! There are beautiful, rather wild places on its north slopes, but wherever you choose, have in mind that the weather there is more dinamic. Good luck!

Everything I post here on my channel is intended to help people learn more about my culture and experiment a bit if they wish to do so. There are indeed closed practices on the Balkans, but usually the "closed" part remains closed. So you'll rarely, if ever, see it on the internet. Cultural exchange in the magical sphere is not something new and, honestly, it seems like it is mostly fueled by contemporary politics. So yes, feel free to implement what you see here in your life! My advice would be to adjust it accordingly - research local plants that serve the purpose of mine, find beliefs connected with your region, etc. Good luck! :)
