TV on the Radio - Wolf Like Me on Letterman
This reminds me of fifa 12
Oh hey, I was in this crowd! Let me defend ourselves slightly/explain the weird vibe. The crowd is made up of older tourists they get off the street for free. I'm 18 and in town with tickets to see other TV shows, but most are middle-aged or older, probably fans of Letterman or seeing celebrities in general, and maybe glad to get out of the muggy weather. So Lance Armstrong and Kristen Wiig are interviewed, and people know there's a band to finish the show. Suddenly, everyone's asked to grab their things and leave through the side doors. There's no explanation, but staff aren't panicking, so... seems the show's just over? It's 6pm, and I hear people shrug and start making dinner plans. Then the crowd trickles out from the air-conditioned theater and discovers the street is fenced in. The whole crowd's now standing, shoulder-to-shoulder, in the humidity. People see them setting up instruments on the fire escape and realize the band will play, probably in a few minutes. Cut to some time later, almost 7pm. Still nothing's been explained, but seems the show was waiting for the sun to set? The older people are audibly hungry and grumpy about standing in the sweaty crowd, but aren't sure if they'll miss more Letterman show if they push their way out of the crowd and leave. Finally, the band plays--and you literally can't hear them. Looks like there were big speakers outside? I had no idea. The professional sound mix on TV was different than what you heard in person, which was mostly drums and some trumpet drowning out the rest. So this crowd doesn't know who the band is, have unexpectedly stood in the heat for most of an hour, and now they can't even enjoy the music. And then the band ends, and there's no fanfare, staff just move the fences and tell people to go. For what it's worth, I went home, watched the episode, and then checked out the band myself. So at least one person in the crowd was converted.
RIP Gerard. The bands still gonna make it. Idgaf
I shook my tits to this in my 20s. And im still shaking my tits to it my 40 year old tits. Yes gravity is gonna do what it do but this is ETERNAL. 😂❤🎉
Absolutely amazing, they poured their souls into that performance. Wish I would have heard this years ago.
Letterman eventually did grow a boss beard of his own...
Put this in the fuckin' Louvre
lmao Dave eventually got the beard
Miracle Performance, He Bled His Soul into that performance, and you can feel it !!!!
Insane preformance
A very very rare instance when I wish Dave had said less and let the artists shine. TVOTR forever and ever.
❤
This song is Never back down movie
lol what did Kyp hand over to Letterman at the end?
Weed
I remember seeding that live on the show. that blew me away. what a performance and great song . Can't believe it was in 2006. thanks for the video!
The fn energy in this song ❤️
Just came across this today!! I would’ve loved this back in high school!! 20 years later still going strong!!!
This nummber is gold i can tell you that.
Das ist total abgefahren ... Wunderbarer Auftritt...
One of my favourite vids on the tube 💯
Still fucking slaps. What a performance.
Man they had something ...
I love this performance so much. It's fascinating to see how much stage fright Gerard Smith had, and how he just faces the amp the entire time. RIP.
💯💯💯💯💯
Time and time again this SLAMS!!!!
2077 anyone ?
The most underrated band of the world!
This is real music.
It is just so beautifully perfect.
Beautiful
Now how did that old song go? Ah, yes, "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"
Great drummer
Why do other bands suck so much?
Seriously I love THZiS motherfucking band
I fucking love this band
Love this band
I like the music tv on the radio made here.
It's to easy to tell the truth. Theres not to many reasons not to but there are some depending on who you are talking to.
@ua-cam.com/users/MrFeh hi
That awesome singer, like to be new friend
Watching (again and again) during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic... safe to say that these were the good old days! Letterman still on the air and TVOTR still out and about!
And then Letterman finally managed to get THAT beard... hahahaha
Hit him deep. HIT. HIM. DEEP.
What a phenomenal performance. I really love how when performing on Letterman, artists just seem so comfortable and natural, totally just into the music and art full on. Something about his show was just the perfect environment for music.
I can't sit still when I listen to this
2018 we still out here supporting this talent 🔥🔥🔥
Christ, this live sound is impeccable. Sounds tastier and more raw that the album track. That SG... Someone in this band knows their engineering.
badass!
I've watched this about 100 times since I discovered it yesterday, upset with myself that I've found this band about ten years too late, what a performance
and here i am 4 years after you. dude were so fortunate to have our technology. 50 yrs ago we wouldve just stayed out of the loop
@@dsclark818 that’s very true!
ditto
Be glad you even found them! I've had this feeling before, but now you're here, enjoying some awesome tunes.
as usual , not as good as lp
