Episode 3 - Two Up BMW Motorcycle Travel, Australia, a 3 month trip to Tasmania and home to Brisbane
the reason to ride a bike is to get away from the wifes voice--- this is self harm😄
PMQ is 15 minutes from where we live at Wauchope. Lighthouse Beach lookout is now open after all the refurbishments and is rather spectacular in its layout. Sawtell and Nambucca Heads near Coffs are amazing with their river inlets and lagoons.
@@steventhomson9869 We must have missed the opening by a couple of weeks. Oh well, next time. We love this part of NSW and have stayed at Coffs a number of times. I do like Sawtell.
this is a lovely concept! one small piece of feedback tho, there is an echo on your voices. :/ don't know whether there is a solution for it out there
@@3doubles We have tried all sorts of things to get rid of the echo. We head to NZ in January and hope to do some rides before then to iron out those kinks 😂.
@@onourbike6283 you know those small microphones that influencers use? may be trying them in the helmet could help? :)
A great trip, even in the rain. Thanks for posting ;)
Thanks. It was amazing to see the water pouring over the rock faces. So glad we got to experience that but hope to do the road again on a fine day.
A really interesting area to ride - thanks for sharing
Thanks for that. It is a beautiful part of the world.
Tumut is pronounced with a "U or a Ewe" if you're a kiwi. Wonderful and beautiful place!
Thanks. Will try to remember that 😄. It is a beautiful area and would like to explore more.
👍Nice video, been up this way ourselves many a time over the years, what is the communications gear between you that is being used , John & Tanina in S.A.☕☕🍽🍽🏍
We both have Shoei Neotech 2 helmets with SRL2 Sean Comms unit and we are using DJI Action Osmo 5 with the DJI Mic 2 kit.
👍
@@666dualsport Thanks for the 👍
When I was kid growing up in northern NSW we always had the yellow paint in the side of the roads and then they went white which is so less visible / road friendly in my opinion. The countryside around Bright through to Tumut region is breathtakingly beautiful. Never trust a GPS either lol
@@steventhomson9869 I agree that yellow is the best. The GPS is generally good, But we have a power/charging problem which is being looked at now.
cool video. subscribed
@@SteveM109r Thanks very much.
You guys have got a great load of videos for when you get home and have a wet day to watch videos. Lakes Entrance was interesting!
On such a big trip it's hard to keep the content down 😃. Thanks, we love Lakes Entrance.
Thanks for entertaining us watching your lovely video
Thank you for your kind words.
There is a Gladstone NSW as well near South West Rocks on the Mid North Coast as well guys!
I did not know that. Thanks for the info. We are in the area so might check it out.
Another wonderful episode. We appreciate you sharing your journey with us.
Thank you for your kind comments
The mountains that you referred to from near Dolphin Sands were the Freycinet Peninsula NP - Wineglass Bay is one of the most beautiful places in Tassie :) We have just got home from our tour of Victoria so am catching up on (and enjoying!) your videos of my "state of origin".
Thanks for the info. We did visit Coles Bay on an earlier trip but didn't check out Wineglass Bay as thought it was a big walk. Tasmania is a beautiful part of the world and perfect for motor bike riding.
Another commanding episode guys. The "nut" - so appropriate lol
Thanks.
Very good commentary and somehow you talked us into going in the car and not the bike lol
Thanks, glad we helped in your decision making lol. Hope you had a great trip.
Well you had a wet one for the trip to Queenstown :). I worked at Renison Bell in 1979/80 and travelled down to New Norfolk weekly on my CBX1000 (rear tyre lasted 3 weeks/3000kms on that road). Fabulous road in the dry, not so much fun at night in winter....It's a great daytrip to Queenstown return in summer, one of the best roads from Derwent Bridge to Queenstown.
We've done the road to Queenstown twice now and both times in the rain. It is a great road, don't mind the rain so much just don't like being cold. I've told Mr that if we come back it will be February/March.
I do hope you intend to visit the West Coast. The roads are fantastic, often wet, but fantastic. Lots of potholes in the roads north of Queenstown apparently so keep your eyes open. Have fun, Geoff (R1250GS New Norfolk area)
We did do a bit of the West Coast and yep met a few of those pot holes and the rain. Another video coming. 🤣
Love this video
Thank you so much.
Nice video. Can you go at night and find some bioluminescence for me?
Would love to if we had a car but my thermals and layers are nowhere enough for the cold nights we've had.
Fantastic shots on Thunderbolts way, thanks for sharing. We are just about to head down south from Brisbane on our Goldwing for a 4 week trip to Victoria and intend to do Thunderbolt way from the south end on our way home! Staying at Phillip Island, Torquay and Ballarat on our grand Vic tour! Looking forward to watching the next video and following your journey.
Thanks. When we leave Tassie we've got some time booked at Torquay too, might see you on the road. Safe travels.
I don't blame you for avoiding Great Lake Road, in can be brutally cold on a bike, but a great ride on a warm sunny day! The bridge at Campbell Town is I believe the oldest on Highway 1 in Australia. some great engineering.
We are still hopeful of doing the Great Lake Road. We have about 6 days of nothing in concrete planned. Yes, it surely is a great bridge.
Why do boilermakers always look at steel work?
Hahaha not only steel work but also cranes and EWP's.
I've seen e-scooters go past faster than a motorcycle in a residential area ridden by some kid lol. Looking forward to your adventures guys!
I know right, often an accident waiting to happen. Plenty more adventures to come. 😂
You are staying in a beautiful old building in Ballarat, very nice. You mention tress down, unfortunately we have a lot down around Tassie at the moment. To give you the heads up we are having a lot of strong winds here. Hopefully, the weather will improve by the time you get here. Darrel RtB
We arrived yesterday and saw a lot of trees down plus it's very windy. Hoping the weather will improve over the next couple of days.
@@onourbike6283 yes it has been very windy for weeks so take care on the roads.
Your editing skills are improving, keep up the good work and get muzza to talk more on camera.
Thanks. We are trying to share the talking more now that we've got our audio sorted a bit better.
Thanks for the upload and so enjoying the series so far.
Thanks for your kind words.
lovely photography and soundtrack..safe travels
Thanks so much
Very nice video guys! Keep it up! Stay strong, ride on!
Thanks very much.
Oh, how tempting would it be to speed around Mount Panorama. 🤣 Love those old-style pubs. Plenty of them here in Tassie. Ride Safe. Darrel RtB
It was very hard to stay under 60. Looking forward to some pub stays in Tassie in the later part of October.
You have done a great job on the video, that scenery is stunning and so green. Good mix of the drone, helmet camera and commentary. Well done. Ride safe.
Thanks so much. The helmet camera is Donna sitting on the back 😂. Commentary like this is new to us so it's a works in progress.
Don't know where you are now, but I just rode across to Orange and back from the west in the rain and hail so I hope you missed that, I am off to Tassie in a couple of weeks but only for a week unfortunately.
@@james91666 hi, we missed rain and hail fortunately and are currently in Ballarat where the mornings have been cool. We are heading down to Melbourne for a week and Tassie on 21st. We will be there for 4 weeks.
Great video ! What route did you take ? What was name of mountain sitiing out by itself at beginning of video ?
We were on the Mount Lindesay Highway between Rathdowney and Woodenbong. We think it is Mount Lindesay, but not 100% sure.
beautiful view 😻❤
Thanks

Greetings from Northern Ireland , very spooky this came up on my feed and my daughter is going to work in Napier in the new year she is a teacher. My wife and I are fellow GS riders.
That is spooky. You should plan to visit her, it is a beautiful part of NZ as is your part of the world which we hope to visit in 2025. Donna and Murray
Hi, been enjoying your videos! Giving me lots of great ideas. I'm planning a 3 week bike trip End of Feb 2025 into mid March staring in the south island and finishing on the north. Are there any pros/cons traveling by bike that time of year?
Hi, Thanks for that. We did a two month trip this year February and March which was mainly the South Island. That time of the year is usually perfect for riding however no one can predict the weather especially this year in NZ. So the pros are you will have a great time and be blown away by the scenery so take your time and enjoy. Towards the end of our last trip I realised how much more stuff I could see and take in as the rider if I slowed down a bit. That in itself is tough especially if you like winding /twisting roads lol. The cons are you will wish you had more time on either Island and most likely will start to think about your next trip lol. Also if you like small museums then try and go to them as they are fantastic as we never found a bad one - Motorcycle Mecca, Wanaka National Transport Museum, Kauri Museum, - Northland, Classic Car Museum in Nelson and the Packard Museum - also in Northland, are a few I would recommend but I would need another page to list the rest and would go back to any of them again. So all the best and enjoy you trip and let us know how you got on. Cheers Murray and Donna
Good to have the Sun Simulator shining it's cold bluish light. I haven"t seen the old golden Sun in New Zealand since about 1997.
🤣 the sun simulator (love it) was glorious but the days were few with many cloudy days. The wind was way worse than we expected.
Nice video spoiled by that repetitious music. I stopped riding motorcycles when I was 52 because older riders never recover from bad injuries.
Trying to work on the audio, we're self taught and still learning.
That appears a very uncomfortable way to travel.
The BMW is actually one of the most comfortable bikes to tour on.
When you travel by car it's like watching a movie, when travelling by m/bike you are in the movie, enough said !!
That is a great description. @@49googie
Nice place

Thank you.
Wow, greeny color surroundings
Riding through the Kauri Forest is pretty amazing.
Amazing video!
You didn't ride 90 mile beach ...we're heading that way in January ridingvtge Beach and then back up the river great ride so I've been told thank fir your vid awesome to see the sights
