These have been amazing little step by steps. Thankyou 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks for watching!
Good video I’m an old taxidermy guy I’m up in my eighty’s and arthritis taking its toll on my hands. I’m teaching my grandson taxidermy, and I happened on your videos. I think they will be a great asset to my grandson. Thanks.
Good luck to your grandson. I'm glad to hear they help. Thanks for watching
Beautiful!

Any tips if I got the bass to dark? Maybe airbrush white and go lighter green ?
Hard to say without seeing it. Much easier to darken than trying to lighten. If it has not been glossed, might be easiest to strip paint with lacquer thinner and start over. But it doesn't hurt to try spraying white first.
Do you have a break down of all the tools and accessories that you use for this process
I believe everything I used during the process was mentioned throughout the video. Thanks for watching
He did a great job explaining yourself. I was thinking more the stand airbrush.set up
Job well done!
Thanks for watching!
Blue Cypress is my favorite. I went down in February 3 years ago. I caught several 4-5lb bass that weekend. The last day I witnessed a 13# beast being photographed and released at the ramp. A guide and client had caught her on a shiner.
Cool story. Lots of good water to fish!
Rodman is way too full of Mudfish and Gar now...All of the locals have eaten all the bass...
My last trip there was earlier this year and in two days caught 3 over 9lbs.
@@kstenzel2010 Nice! I must have been in the wrong spot....
Is it possible to use plaster of Paris, on is it a must to use body filler 😅
Yes, possible. But you will pick up much better detail with the thinned resin/body filler.
@@kstenzel2010 thank you, I appreciate the answer
How big?
11 lbs 12 oz
@@kstenzel2010 nice thats huge mine is 7 pounds exactly
Caught my first double digit bass from lake walk in water in 2000... didn't know about the downturn of the lake... 👍
They're still in there, just harder to find. Thanks for watching!
I’ve been thinking about starting to paint some unpainted fiberglass mounts of my catfish, do you have any tips?
Haven't done many Catfish myself, but gather as much good reference photos as you can and learn to interpret them. You'll get there! Best of luck!
This is an excellent video!! I have seen the large mouth bass videos too Do you do smallmouth bass Just looking to get into painting replicas So any additional info would be great!
SM Bass are one of my favorite fish. I have done a couple videos already and plan on doing a more detailed one in the future. Thanks for watching!
That’s sounds great I can’t wait to see it
Who’s wants a buddy for stick marsh I live down the street and I got gas money lol
You're fortunate to live close to such a great fishery! Thanks for watching!
Where is part 2?
Not done yet. Stay tuned...
Stick marsh off 512 yes, Winter Haven chain sucks. Try Lake Julianna and Lk Mattie. Boat ramp at park off Polk City exit, off I4
Lots of good water in Florida!
@@kstenzel2010 trophy bass, and gigantic blue gill and shellcrackers. Huge, 10 inch average, up to 12 inches. I also believe there are several FL state record Specks in Mattie, which it is known for. These lakes are in Auburndale. But the best lake in my opinion, Crooked Lake in Babson Park. Gigantic and deep 7 miles long, up to 60 foot deep
Don’t forget the crappie in Stick Marsh and headwaters etc. Don’t tell anyone I told ya 😂 Lmaooo
Lots of good Crappie fishing in Florida as well. Perhaps I will do another video!
@@kstenzel2010 stick marsh has got some studs! 😎🤙
Can't believe that you didn't mention Reedy Lake. Just a few miles South of Walk-in-water. "Frostproof" I live on Reedy and in the last 45 years I have caught and released so many 8-12 pounders that I'd be afraid to guess. Roughly 4000 acres with depths from 6ft to a 18ft trench that runs over 1 mile on the South side. Structure galore too
Just too much water and too little time to fish them all. Thanks for watching!
Reedy, Crooked, and Buffum
❤❤it🎉😊😊

I live in the Ocala National Forest and have had bears tear down at least 5 bird feeders. I finally stopped putting them up.
I've been wanting to fish some of the lakes in the Ocala National Forest for a while now! Hard to bear proof feeders for sure!
Kevin, another phenomenal video! Wondering if you’d help me in identifying what type of vice you’re using to mount the master during painting? I remember first seeing it used in the crappie videos, curious to learn whether that’s simply a common tool that I’m just not familiar with or if it’s perhaps an (ultra) clever Kev-vention? In any event, thank you very much for your time and efforts making and sharing this content, it’s better than it’s ever been. Take care
Thanks. The mounting stand came from McKenzie Taxidermy Supply.
Excellent video as always. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Your very welcome Kevin , I’m based in the Uk and have watched all your videos old and new , I find you are the best at explaining all the processes thanks again
Really great and informative thank you.
Thanks for watching!
The bear saw that fish and thought it was real. He couldnt even tell. Lol.
Ha. Thanks for watching!
I’m guessing the good stuff is up top 😂
Must be!
Thats one hairy pole dancer.!!.
Foiled again...
My humble attempt at making our bird feeders Bear proof 😄
OK how you did the top looks a lot better with the clearcoat finish on it because at first I was like what in the world is he doing looks good
They really pop after glossing. Thanks for watching!
Can I just go fishing with you Kevin
Sorry, currently living in Northern WI. But thanks for watching.
@@kstenzel2010 Looks you'll be telling us about your trophy Northern and Musky spots next. Wouldn't mind a few smallmouth and/or walleye gems as well.
Where do you get the soft plastic for the fins?
Look up WASCO fin carding system, although I am sure there are many other sources. Thanks for watching!
He's here to fix the bird feeders 😂
He fixed them alright!
Obviously NOT bear proof
Even though I tried. He was a tall one!
Lol , bear didn't even react
Quite entertaining to watch!
Either they didn't know there were bears in the area, or they miscalculated the required height. HINT: birds won't be bothered if the feeders are another foot higher.
This particular bear was just a little taller than the average around here. Problem will be corrected!
Hey man any tips on skin mounts first one ever?
I did a video series on skin mounting a LM Bass, check it out: ua-cam.com/video/SQ1CjkUJKeg/v-deo.html
Mind if I ask what kind of baits you use?
I fish a lot with wacky rigged senkos and speed worms, but this day we were using wild shiners.
Bonjour, je voudrais faire à algineta de mon corps, et je suis un homme
Cool, thanks for watching
Thanks; can you explain what 'high fibre' is ,please ? Looks a bit like putty.
It's like a dry insulation material when mixed with water turns into a clay like substance. Unfortunately, it is no longer available (I believe it contained asbestos) however Matuska Taxidermy Supply now has a replacement bedding material. Thanks for watching!
I put a stainless bowl at the bottom of my bird bath for the smaller critters.
Good idea
Wash food, not me.
Ha, thanks for watching!
@@kstenzel2010 thanks for posting.
What are the materials? The base and the hard resin you put after covering the fish? I m looking for materials in Brazil, didn’t found high fiber
Bedding material is available from Matuska taxidermy supply in the US, but you can also use a fine sand (look up recipe for kinetic sand). I back up my thinned bondo/resin with straight bondo, which is an automotive body filler, but you can also use a fiberglass reinforced resin. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching
Welldone
Thanks for watching
@kstenzel2010 I would love too find someone too do my full body like this.
You’d be amazed at her you can do on your own if you’re crafty. I used to make wooden boxes to surround whatever part I wanted to cast when I was in grad school and didn’t have people to help. Pool noodles as a gap filler work too :P The trick part is unbolting the box frame in certain areas 😂
Nice video, good information.
Thanks for watching!
I really appreciate your videos. Thank you for sharing your talent and experience. Your work is beautiful. Congratulations to your wife. That is an awesome bass.
Thank you for watching!
Thats bass is awesome...
Thank you and thanks for watching
Great work
Thanks
Wow never knew how they mount a fish really cool...
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
Dude leave some line out and lift your rod tip up to move it closer lol
Exactly what I told her!
That’s known as the quick release. You don’t harm the fish😂😂😂❤
on average how long does it take you to paint one fish start to finish? how long should a beginner expect to spend painting one?
As a beginner, you should take the time to do it right. The more experience you get the faster you will become. A lot of taxidermists have multiple airbrushes set up with different colors and work on multiple fish at a time, which speeds things up considerably.
@@kstenzel2010 - ahh the multiple airbrushes helps a ton im sure! as im finding the color switching is fairly time consuming! Ive been tinkering with my first bass for weeks now. my husband is a taxidermist (mostly ducks and other feathers and deer) and we have a 9 month old boy so ive been going in stages, referring to your video a lot and he said so far so good on what ive done so far! ive painted his duck bills with pastels for years now and have recently been trying my hand at fish too! Its been fun!
