The State Hospital Psychiatric Rehabilitation Initiative (SHPRI) is a long-term academic affiliation between Rutgers University and the New Jersey Department of Health, Division of Behavioral Health Services (DBHS).
The mission of SHPRI is to improve the quality of care provided at New Jersey’s state psychiatric hospitals through consultation, education, program development and evaluation, using psychiatric rehabilitation goals, values and principles as well as current research.

PREP Webinar: Promoting Recovery Through Positive Psychology
This presentation will provide an overview of the history and philosophy of positive psychology. It will discuss how positive psychology concepts align with a recovery orientation. This presentation will provide an overview of positive psychology interventions which have been implemented and studied among individuals living with serious mental health conditions. This presentation will also include specific applications of positive psychology strategies such as strengths, resilience, and gratitude practices that may be useful in an inpatient setting.
