      @@HannahOberdorfer you have a great memory! If you really want to kick up this prize-winning cake, cut some rounds of Pillsbury puff pastry and bake them under a weight. Add them in between the layers of frosting when assembling the cake!

      @@Picit-13 I love that umami that MSG adds to a dish, but for it to be most effective, use it in dishes with fresh meats and veggies. That helps it replace glutamic acid lost in transport! 🫶🏼

    Chef, if you would be so kind.... My local "go-to" Chinese Restaurant had previous owners that served food more along the lines of Hunanese cooking. They had a less Americanized version of what was on their menu called General Tso's Chicken which here in the US of course is sugary sweet and almost a reddish toned sauce. Their version was a darker sauce, spicy with a subtle sweetness that you had to search for, simple in its appearance served with green onions as garnish. I wonder if you have ever encountered anything like this, or have any insight. I should have asked the lady before they retired for her recipe, though I never did. Thank you for all of the great videos Chef!

      @@Rakkasan66502 The new owners are probably taking a short cut by just adding soy sauce and chilis to their sweet and sour sauce. I’ll work on a video soon on scallion chicken, which one of my good friends introduced me to who went to college in North Carolina. In fact, we re-created it for her daughter’s wedding earlier this year. Watch for the video soon!

    Im a former server at a retirement home, i helped the cooks do prep sometimes and we would cut our carrots with that same technique. Our HOH chef taught us the teqnique was known as "roll cut". And they were listed "roll cut carrots" as one of our sides on our menu
