    How many pounds of weight can this box truck carry

    • @buyingbiggerbetteracademy
      @buyingbiggerbetteracademy 4 місяці тому

      That really depends on the specific trailer, but many 40 foot dry vans can carry 42,000 to 45,000 pounds (19,000 to 20,000 kilograms) of cargo. Again, this depends on the weight capacity as listed by the manufacturer.

    Dear Sir, I hope this message finds you well. I’ve been following your journey in the dump truck business on UA-cam and have been truly inspired by your success and insights. I obtained my CDL-A license in 2018, but I haven’t utilized it as I was a teacher until recently. I made a quiet exit from teaching due to the constant scrutiny from superiors and the increasing difficulty of the job, despite my love for the students. I am now seeking a career change into the dump truck industry and would greatly appreciate your advice on getting started. Specifically, I am interested in whether I should initially work for a union or non-union company. I’ve seen many trucks on the road and assume there are pros and cons to both. Additionally, I’m curious if it would be wise to gain a year or two of experience before purchasing my own truck and starting my own business. I value being home with my family daily or every other day and want to ensure this career choice supports that goal. Your guidance would mean a lot to me as I look for a positive change and a successful future in this industry. Thank you for your time and advice. Best regards, John

    • @buyingbiggerbetteracademy
      @buyingbiggerbetteracademy 5 місяців тому

      Howdy John! Thanks for the thoughtful message. Regarding entering the dump truck industry, I would highly recommend reaching out to those with both union and non-union jobs to properly weigh the pros and cons of either side to find the choice that works best for you. You may be able to get said feedback in the comments sections of related videos or perhaps within Reddit groups discussing those topics. As for gaining dump truck driving experience before going into business for yourself-this is usually the wisest choice. While you'll mainly be working as an operator rather than a business owner, since that will likely be the bulk of your responsibilities, it's nice to gain that kind of experience without worrying about running your own business-which can be immensely stressful all by itself. We wish you on your journey in the industry-however that ends up looking like for you!

    What style of box truck is it when there are wheel well protrusions in the box? We are looking for a lower overall height box truck but still need seven feet of interior cargo height. But a totally flat floor isn't a priority. Thanks for the video!

    • @buyingbiggerbetteracademy
      @buyingbiggerbetteracademy 7 місяців тому

      If you're looking for a lower box truck, it sounds like you may be making more frequent stops-such as for deliveries? These are usually called "step vans" or even "multi-stop delivery vans." They may look like these: www.mylittlesalesman.com/step-vans-for-sale-i2c88f0m0 Is that closer to what you're talking about?

      Looking to turn it into a camper step vans are out since I want to drive longer distances. I was curious if the truck at 5:36 had a particular name. Lower height with wheel well protrusions into the box. @@buyingbiggerbetteracademy

    • @buyingbiggerbetteracademy
      @buyingbiggerbetteracademy 7 місяців тому

      @@MyGoogleUA-cam I believe that's a "utility box van" or "utility box truck" (just telling you what you might look for) built on a Chevy Express van chassis. If you want to make it into a camper that is accessible through the cab, a box truck made from a converted van may be the best option-as many truck conversions don't.

    Can you guide me about the annual income of this type of trailer? And the price of this trailer?

    • @buyingbiggerbetteracademy
      @buyingbiggerbetteracademy 7 місяців тому

      Both of these numbers greatly depend upon the trailer itself (new vs used, its condition, features, etc.) and its successful utilization (how well demand keeps up, frequency of use, etc.). Ballparking the price, these trailers can range from $15,000 to over $100,000. Expected revenue can go from $0 to over $200,000 - just depending on a wide variety of factors.

    • @buyingbiggerbetteracademy
      @buyingbiggerbetteracademy Рік тому

      Absolutely! However, more and more folks are buying equipment from sellers on the other side of the country, having it inspected via a third party, and having it shipped. While these scenarios can open up the market to new buyers and sellers, bad actors like to take advantage of this buying style-which is why it pays to be vigilant.

    It still has Vin Numbers which makes it somewhat easier to get back. But the vin can be scratched which in itself is illegal. I know for a fact it's illegal for you to tamper with cars vins. Idk if the law has construction equipment added or not.

    • @buyingbiggerbetteracademy
      @buyingbiggerbetteracademy Рік тому

      While a lot of road-ready construction equipment may have VINs, many merely have serial numbers-which tend to be far less documented and trackable for the purposes of recovery by law enforcement. While the National Equipment Registry (NER) exists to help folks track down lost or stolen equipment, because it's a private organization rather than a government agency, there are some limitations to how far it can go to help recover equipment. It is still just about the best chance you've got!

    • @s3rye306
      @s3rye306 Рік тому

      @buyingbiggerbetteracademy that honestly sucks. It sounds like the system isn't working, which makes stealing construction equipment easy. I only see a change if millions of pieces of equipment get stolen at once.

    • @buyingbiggerbetteracademy

      @@s3rye306 It's a HUGE problem. Half a million pieces of construction equipment have been stolen just this year alone and only about 25% are recovered. Why? Well, because it's tricky to track them all and keep folks from selling stolen gear. That's why it pays to be vigilant! What do you think about purchasing a medium heavy dump, like a Mack MD

    • @buyingbiggerbetteracademy
      @buyingbiggerbetteracademy Рік тому

      In general, many dump truck owners and operators love their medium-grade dump trucks because they supply enough power and body capacity while remaining more efficient and agile than heavier-grade trucks. A common issue with newer buyers is that think they should always buy more than they'll ever need. In actuality, they find themselves with too much truck a lot of the time. This can be a real issue regarding fuel efficiency, weight restrictions, and maneuverability.
