IMAX vs Standard | Blade Runner 2049

Which aspect ratio do you prefer? This educational video compares the theatrical/standard release of Blade Runner 2049 to the open matte/IMAX version. Did you know that most movies shot with spherical lenses are filmed in a different aspect ratio what we see in theaters or at home? Many cinematographers will crop the original image, called a "matte" which is often described as "black bars" on t...

Can't believe Christopher Nolan actually did it. Editor: stephenseanford Clips: Graciously provided by Trinity and Beyond & @atomcentral Check out their incredible documentary here: www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B002LOAUP8/ref=atv_dp_share_cu_r this is a meme. a parody of behind the scenes specials and nolan's commitment to doing everything in camera. "Written and directed by Chris...
Nuke drop scene from Indiana Jones, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?
The question we should be asking is why would they do this? It's all manipulation
Well, a Tahoe suburbans built on a truck chassis and trucks are pretty damn strong. Trust me we accidentally Tokyo drift that motherfucker twice and it was not wet or cold and there was no ice that day either and we drifted the back and we almost hit something that we missed, then my dad actually drifted the camper on the back too and he literally had the turbo screaming the whole time when he was drifting. It was crazy. Luckily the camper did not fall over and put into Manuel up gear and I corrected it.
For anyone who hasn’t seen the movie before, this video is actually a little misleading. The shots you see are a combination of Nolan’s practical effects (I believe he used conventional explosives plus lots of magnesium) and actual footage of the Trinity Test (1945) and the Castle Bravo test (1954). Just google Castle Bravo and see what comes up if you don’t believe me
BRAVO NOLAN BRAVO
Clickbait
Tbf it looked pretty good in the movie, but not as big as it should though. I feel like if they didn't show the base of the explosion it would look a lot bigger.
Thats insane man.
He’s just finished truck chase scene and before that he was in motorbike chase. So so over the top!!! And so stupid one minute every one is in the car and convenient most of them have to get out so Tom can do his car chase scene. He is so uncool.
is there more about bts of tenet
Gets a real 747 to crash but can't rent a room of the required specs.
It's good budget management.
It was CG fire?!? I never would have guessed
I wish i could see more of this
If I known one thing about Christopher Nolan. If he want to get that shot in camera, he would do anything to get that shot.
I mean, this probably Hollywood's oldest trick in the book. Just not expecting it to be used in such a fundamental way in 2020's
Wow 😮
Christopher Nolan, gotta love him. He loooooves his practical special effects
Amazing. I had no idea.
This video got the LIKE for the BOMB comparison. "Buildup-explosion-aftermath." Love it. I've seen Oppenheimer about 10 times now and hadn't put that together. Love it. Great work!!!
#ReleaseTheIMAXCut
Okay, yeah, looks cool, BUT WHY? Is there any logical explanation?
Cheaper than building the set maybe.
Also green screen is easily detected. Looks cheap in comparison to this.
Holy shit… I wanna get that in my house now 😂❤
Movie Magic 🎩
딱 우리 턴에서만 자유의지의 턴이 멈출거라는건 너무 나이브하죠.
Matte paintings 🥹 So much better than CG 🥰
Denis Villeneuve is the true successor of Ridley Scott in Cinema
This is insane. I literally would've NEVER known this was used if I didn't randomly stumble on this clip. Incredible.
Oh man cos it's out of focus you can't notice it but when you really do look you can tell the angle is very slightly off. 😮
James Cameron is such a passionate human being!! ❤
What's great is that the recognition serves a purpose, you specifically want to downplay the sci-fi nature with the familiar equivalent in that shot
It depresses me how much these guys suck up to Ridley. The mans a drunken hack.
Did they just use the same CGI program with different skins rendered.
I don't care if it gets shrunk. I always want the full image.
❤️ love it love it love it love it.
Busted
No way, i would have never guessed
U can do anything with CGI now! U CAN HAVE TWO GIANT DWARVES SWOOP DOWN ON SNOW WHITE WITH A WEIRDO STALKER IN THE BACKGROUND!!
The man knows his stuff.
Really? Matte painting, literally the oldest trick in VFX books, and people celebrate it...
Caught me...umm yes an homage.
I'm in physics and I'm glad everyone is seeing the story for the first time. It's a well known story is my world and it's an ethical case study that we all live. Almost all contemporary physics is paid for with military funding. The next Oppenheimer is somewhere in a lab today, working away
Like every nolan movie, if you haven't seen it in the cinema, you haven't seen it.
What complete horse crap and waffle, full of self importance
Holy wow, the differences on some are like the old school days of waiting for porn to load on a dial up, 56k. Most of it feels like you’re at the 64% mark vs the 100%. It’s that extra bit in some scenes that make it much more immersive.
Ok, this is cool. Thanks 🙏 to the person who clipped, edited, and uploaded it
It was cgi fire was it? You mean you didn’t do fire stunt work with his top off? 😂
yeah it’s called perspective drawing. i learned it in tech drawing at high school at hmm 17?
Its a ✨HoMAuGe✨
You can really tell Denis is a fan of Ridley Scott. I mean if it wasn’t obvious from Blade Runner 2049 already, it sure is now
no James, their is 3 stacked and a 4th swoops in front
