I can reach C-G if I stretch. But on a normal piano I feal clumsy and to heavy like when playing on a toy piano! I only dream of having that free and amplified movements in action that those small-handed people have!

Great helpful video, Ching-Yun! The fingering is also a factor, and many pianists alternate between 4 and 5 on the octaves.

Actually, THOSE octaves are Schubert's - it's the left hand ones that are Liszt's! ;-p

If you can stretch to a tenth your hands are pretty close to average (for men and women combined). Not exactly Rachmaninoff, but happier than most women...

Does the piano need some tuning?

Good controlled performance. I first heard this played by Van Cliburn in Ostend in 1959. I wanted to play it myself but never got a good sound that I blamed on not having the large hands of Prokofiev or Cliburn. You have destroyed my excuse.

Indeed, I could give a parallel life story, especially Liszt transcriptions which were truly a psychedelic experience for me. Thank goodness for Liszt Transcriptions, that over a seven year period he gave over a thousand concerts, traveling through every hamlet in Europe and Russia, performing everything from Bach to Chopin, to those who never had the opportunity to go to a concert or see a Opera.
