      I believe I was there around 930pm. The train station was the Arashiyama Station. Not sure what time they close. Sorry about that. As far as the situation at night, if you mean safety wise, it’s very safe. I’ve walked over many parts of Kyoto, and other parts of Japan, and always felt safe.

    Thank you for the video. Which Impact crate did you guys choose to go with? Was it the stationary one or the collapsible one?

    • @faminjapan4094
      @faminjapan4094 Місяць тому

      We decided to go with the stationary one. We were worried that the airline might have an issue with the collapsible even though it has the airline rails. Storing it here in Japan is a little awkward due to the size but we’ve ended up using it as a side table.

    Thank you so much, this is a great video with loads of great information. We are planning on moving to Tokyo from Dallas in 2025. We have 2 dogs, 20lbs & 29lbs. We are investigating if we will be able to take them on board with us but if we are not then the info about the crating process etc is great. I do have a couple of questions. 1. The crate you had looks great, did the wheels have to come off for him to be loaded into cargo or are the left on and locked, so the crate doesn't roll around? 2. I assume you put bedding, blankets inside in crate, is that correct and allowed? 3. I saw you had a water bottle attached to the crate, is this the type the dog had to suck on to get water? I assume you had to train him to do that?

    • @faminjapan4094
      @faminjapan4094 4 місяці тому

      I’m glad it was helpful. 1. The wheels are attached to a removal bottom plate. That plate attaches to the crate and is spring locked in place. It’s very easy remove. When we weren’t using the wheeled portion, we removed it and placed it on top of the crate so it was out of the way. 2. We had a pee pad on the bottom, a small floor rug and then a folded blanket. It was nice and soft for him. It was also moisture absorbent, which was a requirement. Make sure to pack a spare set so you can them out at the airport if your dogs can’t hold their pre the whole time. 3. It’s the kind with the metal ball at the bottle. We used to call them the hamster bottles but I’m not sure what the real name is. We started training him on the bottle the same time we started the crate training. Also, I believe they only allow one pet per crate.

    There are many procedural and factual errors 8n this video, which only leads to further confusion. The 180-day quarantine starts on the sampling date, not date of test actual process in Kansas.

    when I see videos like this I wonder how nice it would be to walk for exercise. Do you see many fitness walkers or joggers there? I need to lose weight and I think a walkable city like that would be a nice change for my health.

  • @YouNeverKnowWhoIsWatching

    For the gifts, I was expecting you to mention the customary omiyagi which seems like it would be an expensive part of one's budget. Did you not feel pressured to gift your Japanese friends/coworkers/teacher/classmates/etc?

    • @faminjapan4094
      @faminjapan4094 Рік тому

    • @faminjapan4094
      @faminjapan4094 Рік тому

      Yes. Those expenses were just for me. Again though are a lot of ways to save money. Living in a share house is a good way to do that as you don’t really need to buy any appliances for furniture. So you’re start costs are very low. And Sharehouse rent tends be a lot cheaper than a regular apartment.

And I got to say: it's creepy out (or in?) there in the night. There are no lights at all - save for, perhaps, a lone eerie lantern post in a single crossroad. No people around.
