John's Northwest Adventures - Mystic Beach
I travel to Canada and see a few good friends, this is the day we set out to experience Mystic Beach. the waterfall on the beach was a little bit dried out for lack of rainfall in the previous several months.

I touched one today😭
Just pack in 2007 that was an active railroad railroad unfortunately they never rebuilt
amazing documentary style video you got. I think you should do the similar video for Clear Lake sisters Oregon.(the water is too cold, make sure you have boots, wetsuit, gloves and the hoodies)
Thank you for the suggestion, I hope to be traveling soon.
😍
What a waste, this is criminal. This needs to be removed.
There it is! In Plainview of everyone!
I haven’t Google this ship, but the Navy doesn’t abandon ships as wrecks. The Navy will strike a ship off its register as active, then store for disposition by a scrapper. It gladly transfer ownership and title to a scrapper to relieve itself of the cost to remove toxic materials. The scrapper, in turn, cost out the viability of scrap metal income against the environment safety costs. The USS Enterprise will cost about $1 billion to safely dispose of the ship filled with toxic substances and 8 nuclear reactions.
Indeed, i forget if it was around the 60s or 70s the vessal was struck from the registry. I mention somewhere in the video.
Well the enterprise along with all major retired warships get scrapped in Brownsville Texas. The ships are sold to the recycler for $1 and then there’s government contracts on the back end, Aircraft carriers will never be sold to non accredited customers because of fears they can be purchased by foreign governments and analyzed. This is not abstract, in 2004, well back up, so in 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed the Soviet Navys main shipyards were in Mikolayev Ukraine and so the Ukrainian government ended up in possession of a Soviet Aircraft Carrier that was 60 percent complete, the Varyag. In 2004 the hulk was purchased by a Chinese businessman claiming either for scrap or a floating venue of some kind. It was towed back to China and after years of extensive work that ship is now an active duty carrier in the Chinese Navy, So the government will only sell big ships to the Brownsville shipyard. The plain view was an unarmed novel expirement so that’s why it ended up in private hands
Thanks. When I was a Boy Scout in the late ‘60s my scout master was involved in the hydrofoil program in Bremerton. He arranged a tour of the two ships in the program for his scouts. As I remember, the biggest problem with the hydrofoils was that if they struck a floating log while foiling there was severe damage. At that time, a lot of logs were moved by rafting in Puget Sound and there many “escapees” from the rafts.
I'd love to know how the area ended up with a Cornish name? 🤔
A quick search mentions that the park was named after Stephen Penrose, who was the president of Whiteman College in Walla Walla. Lived 1884 to 1934
@JohnsNorthwestAdventures I live within a mile of Penrose estate, Cornwall, so that chap's ancestors were Cornish aristocracy 🙂 weird, There's a part of the Pacific North West that a bit Cornish
I remember shooting pictures of the Simpson Timber trains crossing that bridge long ago.
I was thinking it would be cool to jump into the water when summer comes back.
This wreck is on the north side of the Columbia River along Washington State highway 4, we used to go by it on the way the way to and from work, I always wanted to research it and write an article about it, knowing the name of the ship is a good start, thanks for the research about another ship that should be in a museum, not rusting along the Columbia River....
I sailed on the LT-2076 many times when she was an asset of the 467th Trans Co in the Army Reserve. She is a classic and was always popular at the Olympia Harbor Days tugboat races. I would love to see her as a museum ship one day, more especially as almost no one knows that the Army has boats and sailors.
She is currently docked at aTyee Marina. You can find the owner through the ATA 202 Comanche page on facebook
Thanks!
Hi there. What years were you on the LT?
In the end remix? The music 🎵?
Oh wow, i wasn't even paying attention to that.
Jake!
The first thing I noticed as the drone came upon it was that it was an aluminum hull. Given the size, that is a huge amount of high grade aluminum. There must be something nasty down there, otherwise I doubt they would leave that aluminum behind, right there in shallow water, easily accessible. Definitely has to be a toxic reason why it is still there. You can see the remnants of a huge pier, all those poles, must have been a big operation there at one time.
Camped there in both summer and winter in the 70s and 80s. Looks the same. Beautiful.
That is really cool, years of existence, and it's as if time had no impact.
Ahh yes lets flop the fish in to the dirt thats excellent angler practice
That's very very common, especially if you're harvesting. If you can tell it's a keeper, you haul it to the bank. If it's not, you release it in the water without removing it. Sometimes the salmon is too dark or is decaying and it's noticed upon bringing it on the bank. From there it's pushed back out into the water. These are food fish with the intent of consuming them. They're at the end of their life cycle once they reach the creek and are not long for the world. The hatchery ensures that there are plenty of fish for every season and what the fisherman catch are what's left. It's a sustainable practice that helps provide food for those people who partake. I for one am someone who fishes this tributary and use those fish to feed my family.
Those water tanks are for the bridges fire suppression system in case of wildfire
Wow, I've never known the concept of that. It makes a lot of sense though.
@Johns Northwest Adventures if you look at the bridges they have a groove down the center of the ties. That was for a pipe. Im building a model railroad layout of this line so this video was valuable data
Nice, im glad my video is able to assist.

This ship deserves a place in a museum. Absolutely unique.
I live about 30 mins from the gold creek trai head. I haven't seen this entrance before. Do you have a map of the way to this mine?
I do not, it should be right next to the trail that runs on the south end of the lake that the beavers have raised. Water is usely streaming out of it.
Love the drone view of this magical beach!
Thank you
I noticed the people who don't live here leave really nappy comments. I've lived here 5 decades. It's home 🏡
Wow, you may have unveiled a pattern. Ive noticed a disdain for chum (understandably lower quality) but i always appreciate the eggs. And as for the comically crowded season each year, all that we can do is mutual respect.
This is incredible! What a beautiful world we have to live in.
Can you add to the description where you researched the history of Minter - sources/web sites/etc.? Thanks for the fun video!
Gorgeous! Nice work!
Thank you, i intend to make a return trip. This visit was a little tight in scheduling. There's a LOT more i was wishing to capture.
I guess if you’re looking to catch your own dog food
Please.. our fish aren't dog meat. Get a grip
If they're still chrome they smoke up really nicely.
Awesome!!!
Honestly, ill need to go back for a return episode that would allow more than half a day to experience this beach.
Minter, a snaggers paradise

@@marieross3440 you're right

Thank you
Pretty kewl !! Just left a sub !! and Like !!
Thank you
The desperation for a few "anglers" to snag spawned out dark fish is laughable and pathetic.
A personal favorite place of mine. It's where my profile picture is
I have been passing this spot since elementary school, hardly any changes
It’s a beautiful area where people have definitely trespassed! 😜
Trespassing for certain if getting into the old building, to my awareness the park is virtually open within the area.
Sick.
An incredible waterfall
Lt2076 is the last of the Simians tug fleet
Wow, i had no idea this has become a lone surviving relic.
Dude, boats and shit 👍
It was a fun ride
A good video to prepare people for the long walk
The sand and rocks are quite the workout.
That’s such a beautiful video and so professionally done! I love the suspension bridges too! ❤️
Thank you
It was so awesome living in Ronald for me
Top notch scenery
Ooh! Underwater shot! Can I assume this is a go pro or are you using something else?
Nope, i decided to capture from my phone on this shot.
Looks like a nice hike!
Tons of parking, with a couple of bathrooms available. The bridge is fun to check out.
Nice man! Love this :)
What a wonderful video, Thank you for coming along for the ride!
It was uniquely cool to be a part of.
Love you're videos John, and I 've been to many historical places in this area, so if you ever need any video recommendaftions, I'd be more than happy to give you plenty.
That sounds intriguing, ill send a message in the future.
Keep up the great work!
Thank you
