If the WNBA has lost 50M every year, and now CC is moving the needle of viewership and attendance for the WNBA (Fever) and bringing attention to all these players and talents you just mentioned, aside from CC's style of play...she brings 10,000-17,000 She in attendance (a bunch of $$tickets), has fans buying her merch, subscriptions to watch her games and by default the other stars too and raise awareness... how is that not a good business decision for the league to come out of the ditch? If she's injured due to cheap shots or quits or fans get fed up with the cheap shots, the investment from these fans into the league will crumble, threatening the financial stability the WNBA seeks, in theory. Do we want to find out for real? Hence "protect Caitlin" the cash cow. Equals "protect the cash flow into the business" yes it involves her health, so she can show up and play!
