Best Looking Longsword Exchanges | HEMA
Переглядів 845 тис.3 роки тому
Some of the best-looking exchanges, in my humble opinion, of longsword HEMA fencing I've seen. Watch to the end, you might not like some clips but will appreciate others, I'm sure. Enjoy the video! I am aware there is so many other goods clips available online, but I don't know them yet. If you have good clips you would want to share, please do! I'll include them in a next video. There it is ! After almost 12 hours of editing, the theme of Gaunter O'Dimm from Hearts Of Stone is mixed with the whistles of the end of the DLC and the song of the children, by the roadside. I hope you'll enjoy both the video and the song !! Hey, i'm doing a completionist lore-accurate run myself and i just finished Hearts of Stone for the 3rd time, which i considered until now one of the greatest dlcs ever. Why "until now" you ask? Oh well, that's because i missed the bloody freaking mother fuggin' piece of sweet poop cake secret achievement "When There's Many Against One" and noticed it in the christmas eve celebrations, ps there is i'm in the middle of Blood and Wine by now and it ruined my goddamn run. 😊😊😊😊😊😊

    I also feel like in this video the burliest swordsmen end up being quicker and wins so wondering if there is anything to that or if I’m mistaken or just bias sample

    The training looks more fun cause they are less hesitant and keep goi it show much an actual sword fight to the death sucks but a fake sword fight is so fun

    I wish we could see how good our ancestors truly were. When you start at 8 and train your whole life they must have been amazing. There’s more motivation when you’re training for the real deal.

    fencing looks so lame, even watching any random HEMA match is 100x more entertaining besides the bunny hop fencer which is hilarious. While watching the fencing with my dad we said they need to just bring back actual medieval combat instead of fencing.

    My first time seeing sword fencing. Just looking at this you understand that no movie has been able to accurately recreate what longsword fighting actually looks like. In reality the moves are so much smaller and controlled, there is so much tension and hesitation before entering an exchange and theres so much foot work and movement. In movies and tv every exchange is nothing but huge sweeping swings and 0 foot movement, opponents just walk into each other.

    4:26 this is the type of shit Jamie Lannister should have been doing in GoT. Would have gladly waited longer for episodes if this level of choreography was somehow taught in tv shows

    Hema is a poor representative to sword fighting. Being hit by a sword doesnt mean a great damage enough to encapacitate enemy is dealt to them. Especially the first match. The blade barely touch the opponent. Its just a sport instead of a real martial arts

    • @Phoenix6942-7
      @Phoenix6942-7 8 місяців тому

      You've never been hit with a sparring sword in your life, and it shows. There's a reason they wear protective gear for these. And the first landed cut of the video was definitely a clean hit. Would it cleave the skull in two? No, but that cut with a sharp blade would still do a lot of damage or most likely kill an unarmored opponent.

      You seem to not understand that most rules were to first blood, they were rarely to the death and the vein if the are to the death it doesn’t take much especially in those days

    I saved Olgeird but I lost Gaunter O' Dimm's wishes. But I guess there are Pros and Cons I got Olgeird's saber which is far greater than any Steel Swords in the game. Did I do it wrong or...should I let Olgeird die?

    Wow 3:38 was awesome. If you watch really carefully you can see red made the blow to blue's foot because he feigned a much higher blow before redirecting way to the bottom. It's impressive when someone's able to feint in the middle of such a fast exchange. Like it's one thing to consciously feint from an idle position, when you're initiating and not reacting. But to do it like that just milliseconds after parrying, that requires it to be like second nature. You have to be so fluent that you just automatically move like that, without thinking about it. And I guess that means a ton of sparring practice, not just practicing forms. Also it was really cool that he parried behind his back right after that. Moving his sword quite a distance in a really short time.

    Just imagine being back in the day, being a highly skilled knight who has trained in swordplay since childhood. All that work, all that dedication... Then one day on the battlefield, some untrained scrub peasant shoots you down with a crossbow. Oh the indignity! So ignoble!

    • @grainherstal1912
      @grainherstal1912 8 місяців тому

      Unless that foot soldier caught him in his sleep or get lucky, the crossbow wouldn't kill an armored knight in a single shot.

    I can now see why half-swording was popular during medieval times. It is very effective in disabling your opponent.
