Tom Grimshaw Memorial Slide Show
Tom Grimshaw, good friend and rally co-driver extraordinaire passed away in 2005. I prepared this slide show as a memorial to Tom and screened it at the 2005 Maine Forest Rally. For his friends who miss him as I do, here are some highlights of Tom's life!

This video explains the operation of a Tommy Box (Thomas Mark X) Rally Computer.
I'm wondering, if you don't use it should you disconnect it in order to protect the innards or can you set the top left knob to off to set the gear train in 'neutral'? Great video!
Thanks for this. My father Denis Johnson competed with Tony Fall (they show up at 14:07 and later on in the film). They finished 7th overall and 2nd in class.
I bet he had some stories to tell. RB
The sound of that blue barracuda... dude.
@21:11 redline grips!! Better times...
Does anyone know how much could this be worth?
I think it is interesting but somewhat counter intuitive for forward motion the scrolling is downward while for backward motion the scrolling is upward. I had a Twinmaster, but don't remember this behavior.
There was a book, 'Ried's Rally Tables" I think, that listed minutes per mile for various speeds. I think the speeds were listed in ten's and maybe even hundred's of a mile per hour.
Great to see vintage rally footage like this, and even cooler to see some of the first legendary Datsun 510s in competition. In San Diego during the early 80s I drove a 510 in solo auto cross events at Jack Murphy Stadium. Back then I bought a Baja prepped 510 without an engine for $300 thinking I might bring it back to life and race it. On closer inspection the car's chassis and unibody had serious damaged everywhere I looked and it needed more attention than I could give it.
Have a question on speed pilots. Motorcycleguy66@gmail.com please

I learned how to drive in a 1965 Plymouth Valiant Signet 2dr hardtop with a 273 2/bbl 3spd Automatic. What a fun car that was to drive. I wish I had hunted down a '65 Barracuda over the years (with a 273 4/bbl Manual. It had 235 hp... No slouch, with 55 hp more than the 2/bbl mill at 180 hp)... I would have probably kept that car! I've always liked the 1967, but the '68 was my favorite of the 3 yr run of that body style... 340 would have been my choice. You could've had a 383 in that car (I think that was too heavy though!)... In 1969 you could've gotten up to a 440... Ridiculous!!
Fantastic footage. thank you uploading.
I have one with SN 56219 in Mexico, it was from my father
Hello sir. Google Captain H.E. Thomas, Tommy box and you'll see an entry for the book, Rallying to Win: A Complete Guide to North American Rallying by By Jean Calvin. It gives a bit of an overview of it. I'm working on a story about vintage rally equipment and I've found your posts to be quite helpful. There's also great information in Steve McKelvie's wordpress blog. Another rally enthusiast worth looking up is Yves Boulanger. Many thanks for your contributions on UA-cam. - Mark
Do you still have it for sale?
