Tariffs and Rc
Tariffs and Rc what does it mean for the hobby and the sport?
Does it mean the price of kits are gonna go up, or does it mean manufacturing in a small amount is gonna have to come back to the states?
With those rising prices, will we see companies go under?
Companies and business that were just a couple of years ago were successful, now have to close doors.

Im setting on a bunch of psrts of the modles i run they can do what ever
I’m glad Trump is getting things back in order. Democrats think water grows on trees. Rc will be just fine
ROAR has really put profits over quality of racing. Another thing just think all these manufacturers have to pay them to play.
Honestly I think roar is just trying to stay afloat. Buts it might get harder to it.
@rcvitals roar takes in a lot of money each year from the manufacturers have to pay each year to roar plus the they make good money from the big races. And if not then they really need to take a look at USA BMX then
Manufacturers still just charge way too much even before tariffs. 530.00 for 10 scale 4wd wheel drive kit it should be about 450 that's reasonable but I guess that's why iPhones cost almost $2,000 cuz there's idiots that will pay that for a phone
Idiots that pay/idiots that cant do it any better. The game could change at any time if someone was willing to step up and assume the risk, get the loans, hire a legal team, research, innovate, develope, market, and sell without any prior reputation...
If we pull back manufacturing to the US we are going to have to depend on those companies to put people over profits and deliver a cheaper product. Do we really think they are going to do that? Like they aren't going to just take advantage of higher prices already existing and push them up how they have been for years now? I just don't see that happening with the way businesses are run fundamentally in the US. As others in here have said, RC is a hobby, I will pay to live first. People who live based in reality, with a bit of logistics knowledge understand that just because something is made in the USA does not mean the raw materials are. If costs go up, well, hobbies are secondary to living so bye bye RC racing for awhile. That decision is simple to make at a personal level, but has ripple effects. Even if I'm not buying kits/parts, I'm at the track paying to race, eat, and socialize. If the support of a bunch of people who could afford to race but not splurge all the time leaves all of these local tracks, I fear for what will happen to them. Not everyone has a backyard they can throw a track into, for some it's just the end of the hobby if the track closes.
@@bronastyxd4807 100% agree, nicely put.
If we could all just remove our heads from our asses and act like the proud American collective we should be, things would be ok. But, unfortunately, i would have to predict that more societal degradation will occur as long as we put foreign interests/culture ahead of our own. If we cant be proud to be american, why would any immigrant be? There are people flying foreign flags while burning american flags while demanding to stay here and not be sent back to the 3rd world s#ithole they pretend to be so proud of...and somehow a percentage of american citizens are too compassionate/stupid to recognize how ridiculous that is. They have been convinced to march against their own best interests, in fear of being called racist, a notzee, or god forbid...a republican Tariffs and the pain associated is short term. A more pressing problem has been the endless money printing and frivolous government spending all over the planet. A proud/brave American market would correct and opportunities would arise for those willing to take on the risk. Reclaiming our identity as a nation will be hard enough, but creating longterm gains after being undercut, downsized, outsourced and screwed over by our own government for so long will take time, understanding, unity and probably some amount of sacrifice.
The end of the day it’s only 10% 😂…

I don’t know where you’re at but here min wage is $16.50. Better than the $7 you said but still not a livable wage. If you’re talking about a new Losi 2wd buggy & truck. It has been spotted in CA at a race. When’s the release or will they ever be released who knows.
@rosssoh10 Hey Rosssoh, I'm from north Carolina. I live in the country. Wow $16.50 yea there are some jobs here that's the top off pay. The new 2wd and truck, did they look good on the track?
@ they’re pretty dialed.
Minimum wage for skilless labor is not supposed to be livable. Its supposed to suck and make you want to do better and reach for better things. People should be striving to make theirselves worth more than the other guy if they want more pay, not getting comfortable in menial tasks. Demanding to get paid the same while possibly being worse at the job only drives up the costs of whatever product youre trying to sell. How much does a pizza cost in an area where they must pay some scrub 16.50 per hour to make it. How profitable could that possibly be? No wonder all our good jobs are in china

Short term yes tariffs will hurt, but if the manufacturing comes back to the USA, then things should balance out. I have always said American RC's should be made in the USA

Stock up on parts for your fav’s. Don’t by new for a while there’s a lot of great used RC,s out there eg. a good used Kraton 8s $500-$800 spend wisely my friends may be enough left for egg’s 😎👍🏿✌🏿
@fly327rc thanks for the heads up👍👍
Agree 100%
As an old oval racer and a new crawler addict, we know most stuff is designed here and manufactured overseas. Without going into all the facets that decide prices, there is a line between price point and quality regardless of where things are manufactured. We have become an instant gratification species who wants it all and wants it now. "I was born with nothing and still have a lot of it left" so with that being said, if I choose quality, it will take me a little longer to save and acquire those goods and, in the end, I will be happier for it. After all, this is only one of my hobbies and they all take second to living. So, take it easy everyone and have fun with your hobby or hobbies of choice. ✌

Nice point never thought of that 👌
@JamesBond-hz2tn yea it's gonna effect the hobby for sure.
Yes, tariffs will make RC prices go up. The Futaba 7PX went up by $100 the first time the tariffs were introduced.
Team associated on the website states that they are made in the United States.
Team associated is owned by Thunder Tiger, More than likely the actual manufacture is overseas, but the assembly of RTRs and kits may be US based
Designed in the US. That's about it.
Unfortunately, when tarrifs raise the cost of foreign goods, products from American-made companies rise by nearly the exact same amount. WHy? Greed, and a total lack of patriotism by American businesses.
if people in canada knew their leader is a fucking moron and truly dont understand trump is fixing everything criminals have fucked up. we have not hit hyperinflation yet. ford is now coming back from mexico . please learn what teriffs actually do. it stops our manufactures leaving . this is extremely important. haha they aint boycotting our stuff its all outsourced to china 😂 people truly dont understand the world . p.s. like the show
I’ve been wondering about this too . Losi owned by horizon hobbies gets parts from overseas but is an American company . Will they get tariff?
It's looking like they will. The only rc companies I know that are American made is. Proline Aka RawSpeed I'm sure there is more, but I think goods coming from Asia will get a 10% tariff.
I’d say the race attendance or lack there of is due to the shitty economy. People have been forced to choose between keeping their households going and racing. Obviously we know what’s going to get cut out.
Agree 100%
I think i know the manufacturer you are talking about. Starts with a T and ends in an R 😅
Our national debt increases by 1 trillion every 100 days. If we don't get this under control, by whatever means it will become more difficult to feed our families, pay our bills etc. than it already is. I'm not advocating for tariffs specifically but I personally need inflation to come down so I can take care of the necessities, RC comes last in that scenario for me. As far as TLR/Trinity and horizon in general, they have showed their hand when it comes to loyalty. Even when I do have RC money to spend it won't be with the brands under the Horizon umbrella.
Thank you
No, thank for watching 🙏 means alot.
I just purchased my first GoPro and immediately came to this vid. Knew I wanted this rig. Thanks Jason! Hope you are well.
The rear axle looked like it was sticking a mile outside the wheel.
I wish one of you fucking high-end RC Runners will have a detailed video explaining why they want dif grease over diff oil! not one motherfuker on here ever talks about that and yet I see people using both explain the the benefits of one over the other should I use grease on only exterior points on my driveshaft?
are there ever any races with all kind of different short course trucks in one race?
Yea that's usually how they race is all the short course trucks race together. I've seen someone do well, with a heavy modified traxxas slash short course truck.
are these traxxas slash or something?
Hey, thank you soo much for reaching out. These are the team associated, and tekno, and xray rc short course trucks. On the same line as a traxxas slash but better and more premium. Everyone I see driving them has fun driving them.

It would be cool to see a more technical video on how to convert an xt2 to buggy shocks and towers with the parts needed.
AE trucks in my area are running buggy shocks/Towers
I did the same thing with my shock cup set up to make the car ride lower and more evenly in ride height. Otherwise the car sits at 20mm in the front and 22mm in the rear. With the shock cups reversed or set up in this manner, the cars ride height is an even 21mm both front & rear. The bulkhead spacers may've been added for the same reason depending on shock oil weight.
There are a lot of people who talk about RC who no longer participate in RC. Does their opinion count? That would be a good video. The Drive episode 47. 🤔
I’m of the opinion if your sponsor is paying for the majority of the whatever they sponsor you for you definitely don’t belong in sportsman. I’ve been through this argument back in the day I was employed by the local hobby shop and got an employee discount and because I worked in the RC department and checked in the stock order I literally had first or second dibs on the best batteries and motors before the the regular customers this was the brushed motor and Matched/Pushed NiCad days (unfair ehh maybe) now I still had to pay for everything my discount was usually cost + 10% but not everything had a 10% or more markup either so there’s times I paid what everyone else paid I was also a broke teenager that kicked back $$$ to my folks whenever possible. Was I a sponsored driver? According to a few sore loser types at some of the different tracks I raced at (all the same guys BTW) felt that way and used to force me to run expert. My supposed sponsorship was only because I worked where I worked, I didn’t get a “sponsorship”because I was a fast driver not to mention some of the supposed sportsman drivers that were complaining had been racing RC longer and were older than me at the time.
Top 3 consecutive laps is a good way to break it up. Then you need to have a PRO class and an Open class. Pro class for the serious pro level drivers they know who they are. And the everyone else. Each main walks away with something for the top 3, A main is a little more special award wise.
If you got a company on your chest, you better be in expert; end of conversation
😂
It's tough to compete as a racer or a brand in today's market. The direct to consumer model (paying, contracted customers) is sometimes the only way any of these brands can survive. If brand "A" wants to get customer "X", they will most likely have to contract them in order to get repeat business. If they do not, customer "A" will get contracted by brand "Y" and never make a transaction with "X". It's a ruthless product of free markets, but it works. If driver "A" is getting paid and full 100% product support from brand "X" they should be removed from the entry level class.
If a driver is getting discounted in any way at all (even 20%) and is representing a company on their shirt at all, they shouldn’t be in sportsman.
@@Soysaucercin a perfect world I agree with the idea that sportsman or comparable classes should be raced by 0% sponsored drivers. It is very hard to enforce when most online retailers offer regular coupons or member rewards often close to equal the support of a lower level sponsored driver.
Sponsorship vs premium (discounted) customer, what's the difference?
True, but it still takes some results and many different races, to get that discount.

Thanx ;)
This video was helpful, in fact I’d like to learn more about the 3* kick-up changes - what does it change and what situations would you want to change it for? I just finished my kit build and I’m glad you got this video out to share the info. Nothing is more frustrating than getting a brand new car on the track just to break a stupid plastic part on the 3rd lap. Thanks!
Thank you soo much 🙏, that means alot. I will ask Tom tonight and his thoughts on using the plus 3. I'll give you his answer. But I will for sure find out how it effects the xray truck. Are you running on carpet or dirt?
I’m on dirt, indoor sealed clay. I noticed there’s zero setup sheets for the 24 truck on the Xray site, so I’ll start with kit settings for dirt and work my way toward something that works better (if it does) and I’ll post it in a month or two. I’m assuming a lot of the common buggy changes might translate to the truck as well so that’ll be my starting point probably.
+\- 3 degrees of kick up used to tune steering or at least that is what is use it for. more kick up more weight transfer to front off power less kick up less weight transfer. less kick up better on smoother tracks. -Tom Sherman
@@rcvitals Thanks! I’ll be working on some setup sheets soon. Does Tom sell his shock towers or is that only for people on his team?
@HookedUpRacing2024 he sales them you reach him on Facebook Sherman and Sherman racing, or Tom Sherman. People are loving his shock towers.
great videos and channel, your driving is fantastic, it looked awesome throwing up roosts in the corners. it inspired me to start racing, what 4wd buggy/truggy/SC would you recommend? I am a lifelong lover of the hobby, but am 100% new to racing.
@bobbjorkner7140 thank you soo much, I really appreciate that 🙏. You know I try to show what I went through, in setting the car up. I got my esc dialed in but when I done it I forgot to setting my radio adjustment to 100% and then reconnect my esc to my radio. I post a link below on how to do that. I just figured whatever I got stuck on and figured, will hopefully help someone else. But think you soo much, if anything I can do to help. Just ask, and I'll try my best to get you a answer.
Good video, but the sound quality my friend... 😖 😅

Whats the best 2wd chassis in 2024?
@MX-CO it depends on your driving skill level. If you're intermediate privateer. I would go with xray. If you're club racer and alot of people at your track has team associated, go with the b7 or b6.4 I always recommend go new, and get the experience of a kit build. That's just me though. I hope it was kinda helpful. I really appreciate you turning in.
