Military Motorcycles featuring Captain America's 1944 WLA Harley Davidson
I used to ride one of these at Buckroe Beach Amusement Park, Hampton Va. It was fully functional, you pull back on the yoke to climb, yoke forward to descend, and inside and outside rolls. The 'aircraft' remained level throughout. The most fun was to climb or descend rapidly while rolling. Many tamer rides made me airsick, but this ride, because I controlled it, never bothered me. The wings actually worked, creating the rolls from airflow provided by the ride rotating rather quickly See one in action ua-cam.com/video/Yz9fQ38YstY/v-deo.html
This place is awesome. Every nook and cranny over 4 acres is full of history and things to see and experience, there is a deep love for the collections of items that is obvious and very appreciated.
I was there yesterday for my birthday, it was the first time that my family and I came from Kalispell to see all your wonderful things new and old. Even more fun was the event you did with the military bike and side car running as with the jeep and truck and tractor. I really enjoyed trying to fit inside the jet that you could get into, it was the first time I got to try in all the years we came.to your museum, it was totally awesome experience this time. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE JOY YOU GAVE MY FAMILY AND ME, I WISH YOU ALL LUCK MAKING IT JUST AS FUN AS IT WAS YESTERDAY🤩
Is place is the Disneyland of history and bikes. Amazing…..
A lot of carnival rides are this era. Used to ride an octopus that was repainted and re done and it was from 1939…. Sad this thing can’t be fully operational
Although it's not FULLY operational, you can still sit inside and spin in a circle. It's fun to remember the old carnival rides. We are having our Live History Days July 20 and 21st. You can come down and give her a whirl!
Thank you so much and you have an amazing museum
=D Thanks Kacey! Isn't it amazing what we can build when we live in a country with free enterprise.
It is so cool
Your museum is AMAZING
Thank you Kacey! We love it here. Glad there are others who love it too.
I've seen pictures of this ride. My Dad's yearbook from 1949, in the highlights section. There were pictures taken of students at the local festival and this ride was one of the attractions.
What a neat memory! Thank you for sharing. We're giving rides on this Fly-O-Plane July 20th and 21st during our Live History Days this year. You could recreate the photo and put them together!
@@miracleofamericamuseum4205 thank you for your response. I seem to remember this ride from fairs and carnivals back in the 70s but it disappeared in the 80s. Unless I'm thinking of something else. It looks like a fun ride although I wouldn't have ridden it. The spinning gondolas in the air would've kept me off of it.
2024, the date is 20th and 21st of July
As of 5/24 there is a “Fronty” Model T Speedster for $18,500 on eBay. The Frontenac overhead valve conversion doubles the hp of the Model T engine. Was very popular among speed enthusiasts of the day. Very rare these days.
My Great Grandfather Harold Gilbert Larrabee was chief torpedoman’s mate on this ship, and didn’t survive the sinking. Very cool finding this video
I think one of these can be seen in the classic musical State Fair(1945). Jeanne Craine and Dana Andrews ride in some version of this in the movie when they are at the fair together. 🙂
Gil I’m a socialist and I smoked weed in your museum
0:33 This Switcher locomotive needs to be restored.
Gil is a national treasure!
Looks and sounds pretty damn good!!! 👌
Ide love to open a amusment park dedicated to vintage rides and coasters.
I will ride this it’s too cool to pass up🫶🏻

Toured this absolutely fascinating museum today. I am seventy, and almost everything predates me.
HI- There is a post on Reddit "What is this - found in hanger" - It looks like a flight instrument gauge. Similar to an altimeter or other gauge you would find on the instrument panel. It has two hands similar to a clock or watch one long hand and one a bit shorter. The out side face of the dial is numbered 1 through 20 and inside each number is a letter. 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, and so on. 20=T. I cant find anything similar with Google searches and looking through Vintage Aircraft Parts websites. Thinking outside the box, could what I'm describing be a "fake" gauge for an carousel airplane ride? Hoping you might have some ideas? Thanks Bob-
As a former player and coach, I wholeheartedly agree with what he is saying.
love this place
Very very cool
This is the Model T I want to build....
2000 year Leap
Love the E&J headlights, and is that a Whippet grill/radiator I see? Really cool piece of history there.
What is the purpose of the bouncing cylinder on the exhaust?
Hopefully one of these days I get to see his car once again in another video!
I would like to see how the controls work
This was a neat event! I always enjoy the museum!
Very cool!
Thanks for checking us out.
Why not refurbish this to the original state? I rode one in the early 90s. Made the cars flip constantly. 💖
Liability unfortunately stops us from making the cars rotate into an "unsafe" position. I wish we had a less litigious country! It is still fun to go around in though. 😄
My family and I were there at flathead for a wedding on 4th of july weekend. Seen the boat and the toy car hauler from the road and just had to stop in. So much to see. I hope we can go back next summer and get to really go through your museum. It was really nice chatting to you. Loved it all!
Yay! We look forward to seeing you again. Maybe the third weekend in July when we have the machines up and running!
What was this video? A tour of heaven on earth?
Come on down to the museum and find a little piece of heaven for yourself =D
Love Whites!!
You know, it sure would be fun to see a T racing revival.
It would be fantastic! We've had dreams of purchasing extra land to have antique car races. Wouldn't that be something? =) Not in this lifetime, but what a fun thought.
@@miracleofamericamuseum4205 One of my topics of study, are cyclecar racers, of the same period! They would also be fun around that track! At the State Fairgrounds in Detroit, back in the day, they raced T's, European cars, Cyclecars, and motorcycles.
@@DetroitMicroSound What a sight that would be to see! We have a whole collection of antique motorcycles too.
@@miracleofamericamuseum4205 One of these days, I may have to stop in, and visit! Old motorcycles, and mopeds of all kinds, is my thing!
@@miracleofamericamuseum4205 Apparently we had a few guys racing cyclecars, back in the 20's with Henderson 4 engines in them.
What a great video. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was wondering what mechanism raises the planes? Hydraulic cylinder maybe a winch pulling on the cables. Did you say, that you only run the plane o ride once a year? Thanks
The 1941 Fly-O-Plane has a winch and cables to lift the planes, but it is not activated right now for liability purposes. We run it during the Live History Days every year on the third weekend in July! Come visit us. =D
@@miracleofamericamuseum4205 I will plan on it for next year. Do you leave the ride setup year round or take it down? Thanks
@@hermanmitchuson9639 It is up year round for display. Come see it anytime.
Do you know of any carnival junk yards? I would love to own a vintage kiddy ride or coaster. Was trying to get the last ba schiff wild mouse from a abandond park but I can't get ahold of the guy
Awww
I know! 🥰 Warms the heart.
The one in the UK has now been scrapped unfortunately
I think this is one of two running Fly O Planes running in the US. I got lucky to ride the one at Lake Winnie right before they removed it. I wish someone would buy it, refurbishig it and get running again (cough cough Knoebels).
I just met this man this weekend Very nice man, loved the museum
Great part of history, the Barton was a great ship. I had the pleasure of serving on the second Barton DD722. She also had a great history in WWII, serving in both fronts, Germany and Japan.
Thank you for your service. This country would not be what it is without people like you. *salute*
Thanks for sharing...looks great
I would like to see how you work the controls
That would be a great future video! We'll keep that in mind. We run the machine every year for Live History Days the 3rd weekend in July. We welcome video and photographs.
There were a couple of T-33 at Webb AFB in Big Springs TX back in the mid 60's. On a hot day with two pilots, full fuel tanks they would take forever to get airborne!
Love this sort of thing. Keep going sir. 🏴
Can you do another video and show the speed equipment of the time? Thanks
