Long story short, he was being stalked and blackmailed because someone found out that he struggled with same sex attraction. Although he never acted on it, he kept it a secret because whenever he did try to talk to someone or get help they either abandoned him or they couldn't help him. Kirk finally called the authorities and had the guy arrested. But in return his "secret" was exposed. Sadly, many people turned their back on him. But there was quite a few people that ran to help him. One of them was a friend of mine. He was starting to make a comeback. He was doing pretty good. Then he started having vocal chord issues. He has a condition in his vocal chords that's too hard to spell or pronounce. He basically sounds like he has Laryngitis all the time. He still lives in Knoxville and he works at Dillard's. I believe he still does some writing. I believe that God still has a plan for him. His impact and legacy in gospel music is a special one. And he has a great testimony.

@@drummerman31 i’m gonna say this is respectfully as I can but I can hear the laryngitis bit and he should be staying quiet so he can reserve whatever if any vocal ability that he’s got as if he keeps doing what he’s doing in this video he ain’t gonna have nothing left and look. I’m a Christian too but honey I also believe in science and if you keep using what’s already born out, you ain’t gonna have nothing left.

@@drummerman31 OK look I’m a Christian and I believe in God but I also believe in listening to your doctor if and when they tell you not to do something so if he has a vocal disorder that causes him to constantly sound like he has laryngitis, shouldn’t he be oh, I don’t know not doing this.

I think lately he has been sick, he lost his voice from it.

@@QuietlyContemplating that was many years ago, & he was welcomed to sing again later- informally I believe, not professionally, though I can't remember the details. He's been ill & lost his voice, I believe that's why he hasn't sung.

He has a vocal chord condition that has greatly effected his voice. He basically sounds like he has Laryngitis all the time. He sounds pretty good as long as he stays within a certain range. It would be awesome if God were to heal him and he can make a comeback.
