Rock N' Roll - Virginia Canyon MTB Park's Newest Trail
Rock N' Roll is the newest section of trail in the Virginia Canyon MTB Park that opened at the beginning of December. It drops in from Morning Star and connects to the rocky hairpin of Country Rock. Adam Wood is doing great work out there on this trail, along with the rest of the volunteer trail builders. There are a few more pro lines being built off this section of trail. Subscribe to see those sections when they are finished.

My first time checking out the Frisco Bike Park. I didn't have time to ride the whole park. The trails featured are Aftermath, Pretty Slick, Sky Pilot, Buffalo Run, and one of the dirt jump lines.
First Ride at Virginia Canyon Mountain Bike Park in Idaho Springs, CO

Today was my first chance to check out the new trails in the freshly opened Virginia Canyon Mountain Bike Park in Idaho Springs, CO. The climbs are quick and easy to carry speed. The gaps, drops, and lippy jumps are a welcome departure from the tame front range trails. Excited to get up for a few more rides and learn the trails.

That trailer looks wild. Is that a double black or a proline? You make it look way too easy. Subscribed.
@@AdventureAwaits4u Thank you. That section is a double black. There are plans for a proline straight off the first rock roll instead of turning left. Midway down you can see someone with some planks off to the left. That is one of the other prolines that is nearly done. Heavy Metal is what that section is going to be called. I believe as of yesterday it was just waiting on final approval and signage. About 40 feet of 45 degree rock spin to an off camber bridge into a right turn. Good stuff. I’ll try to make it up there to film that new section before the trail closure Jan 1. But just found a crack in my frame while cleaning my bike today, so we’ll see if I can get that sorted quick. See you out there.
Wow. I have ridden that four times (and helped build the entrance to tectonic while vacationing in CO) and your speed and control is impressive. Nice!
@@tcmoller Thank you. I enjoy riding as fast as possible on the limit of traction and control. That section of trail is a great mix of tech and speed.
Dude i once rode it and its sketchy as hell. You did it way smoother than me
@@w.ils. Thank you! If you rode it at all, that’s solid. Extremely sketchy. Especially with how blown out it is in the bottom turn. Some rebar sticking up too.
Going there tomorrow! How fortuitous, Mr. Handy.
@@crystaline109 That’s great! I hope this helps you decide what trail to hit and know what you’re getting into. Enjoy. It’s a great park with lots of fun trails.
Bro is sending it for a blind run!
@@facelessbot963 The wood drop on ghost town was pretty sketchy blind and was certainly bigger than I thought it was going to be. And more speed was needed for the wood bridge. Had to push my bike forward which is why the camera got knocked off angle on the landing. Most of the trail is build with enough sight lines to have an idea of what’s coming. And is built in a way that a good quick trail speed is the right speed for most of the features. Half the fun is figuring it out as you go.
Damn! You absolutely launched on that wood table
@@kieranoday7460 Usually it takes a couple good pedals to clear it nicely. But the tail wind carried me more than I expected. The dirt after the wood also works as a landing haha.
nice, smooth ... good 🥹
@@DonAltopio Thank you. Get out and ride it. It’s a really fun trail system.
Sweet skills! I've done the Tectonic drop and it was nice. The Ghost Town looks pretty big. Should I scope it before hitting Ghost? Thanks
@@BOOSTEDDUDE Thanks dude. First time I hit ghost town was blind in my “first look” video. Came up a little short. It rides nice. Similar speed to the tectonic drop. It’s a little taller and the landing is loose. Not an issue, but something to be aware of. Easy to make the corner after without trouble. I’d suggest looking at it first but if you hit it at a good trail speed, you’ll be fine.
@@nichandy Ok, thanks for the info! It looked really big from one of your perspective when filming from the landing area. Maybe I'll see you up there sometime? I was going to go again yesterday but realized they are doing work on Floyd Hill.
@@BOOSTEDDUDE It’s probably about 7-8ft drop to the knuckle. Sounds good. See you out there.
@@nichandy Cool Man. I'm on a blue Pivot Switchblade!
impressive riding. making some of those features look way smaller than they are in real life
Thanks for using a hardtail. I use one and get overwhelmed at DH trails when everyone is using full suspension and I feel left out. Great video!
@@cobikaza9529 Hardtails are so much fun everywhere. This trail system is great for it too… as long as you don’t come up short on anything.
This looks soooo good. I can't wait to get on this!
i was like oh word this dude rips.. and then i saw the fucking hardtail!!! what a gangster
I rode that the other day on my full 170/170 bike. You shredded it on a hardtail! Nice riding, nice video.
@@ApexArchery Great trail system for likes of different rides. Hardtail is typically my ride of choice, no matter the trail. How was it climbing on your bike? Seems like it’s a good grade and easy enough with a big bike that you’ll still have plenty of juice left to feel good hitting everything on the downs.
@@nichandy Yep! I wasn't in a particular hurry, and it took about 55 mins or so to knock out the climb.
Fantastic run. I’m in the FoCo area and want to ride this so bad.
@@mheald111 Do it! Worth the trip. Easy enough to loop a few ways for multiple laps. Trail speed and visibility is good for most of the hits. Most of the wood bridges and drops you’ll need more speed than you think. The step ups on the lower section are forgiving and is easy to carry speed into to boost them. Enjoy.
Nice job hitting all of TECTONIC and sick riding! You ripped it up good. Something is up with your video cam has a grey dot that moves around. Not sure that that was?
@@BOOSTEDDUDE Thanks dude. That first drop/gap is just enough farther than it seems. The rest was easy to spot a line without checking the trail out ahead of time. Sorry about the dot. I set the camera down on the ride before this one and it just rolled over and scratched the max lens. It’s hard to see on the phone preview. But very noticeable on the big screen.
Nic!!!! Nice
🤙
Instead of saying something you decided to ride so close to that guy… almost hit him with your bs. Say something and people will move… what a loser
Great video. Looks like a blast. How is the climb? Can you shuttle?
@@markf4968 Thank you. Climb is good. Mellow great. Which means it meanders a bit and is good for bigger bikes or climbing with a full face. Would be good on a SS. Switch backs are normal tight radius but not steep. Overall a well built trail system. Can loop back to the top at several spots on the down. Not a shuttle ride at the moment. I believe there are plans for a cable car.
NIC HANDY SAY PRE RIDE IS FOR SUCKAS
@@cbwanner 😂😂😂 Sometimes it works out. And sometimes I get it wrong and pay for it. Glad it worked out well this time. I’ll take you there next time you’re on this side of the hills.
Always great to see what a hardtail can do with the right pilot. Great riding and great video. Thanks for the tour!
@@Kevin-q7j Thank you. Hardtails are great tools to have. And usually my bike of choice. There are lots of great options these days too.
Had to go back and ride it again after watching your vid, Country Rock is crazy, the rock feature after the switchback and the drop 😮 What size tires you running on your hard tail?? Thanks!
@@Kevin-q7j After riding it a few times now, I like to grab some front brake and nose wheelie into the rock switchback. Sets you up really nice for the angle into the rocks. I’m currently riding some prototype Teravail tires that are 29x2.5 I like 2.5-2.6 and usually run trail inserts.
Dang looks like a good time!
@@DevonKing07 You would enjoy it. Come on out, you can ride the dually.
@@nichandy Soon! I hope haha
You are an amazing rider! Thanks for sharing!
@@comanche1111 Thank you Shawn. That is very kind. You are plenty skilled too.
Damn those technical skills are choice
👌wow, wish i could lace me up a new wheel😔😎👍
You can do. A few pointers are helpful to get started. And tensioning in pairs and slowly is key. Quarter turn at a time while tensioning brings everything up nice and even.
Bikes!

IT MAKES ME FEEL SICK SEEING HOW EASY HE DID THAT .... UP HILL !!!!!
