Excellent breakdown of the hows and whys on the forehand. I can’t wait to see the next one.
How can you teach this kind of forehand to a 6 years old Kid..., He doesn't understand anything...,by the way, their hits goes flat...jeje
Hi great coaching. Can you talk more about moving(hunting) in the diamond and when and how far you take the racket back out of the diamond and when to start the forward swing - is it at the peak or just before the peak so you can meet the ball at the peek.Or is the stroke fast enough to meet the ball at the peak if you start the forward motion at the peak
An excellent communicator of real, tennis understanding
"SNAP ON IT!" haha love it
I'd not argue with this very good coach, just afraid the kid is too small for the modern FH. Think he'd be better off to start with old good eastern (or even continental grip) to get the basics and later to switch to this super aggressive FH
next level coaching
this is the kind of coaching I wish I had
does he know he is teaching to a 5-6 years old?
He’s teaching to the parents most likely… and the camera. The kid’s like. Yup. But kudos for still doing as he’s being shown. I learnt a lot too so bonus.
what a great coach!!
Glad you think so!
You’re a new fave, friend. Teaching the young’ns brings its own set of unique challenges. Hats off to you. Great lessons. Great delivery.
I want some lessons from this guy!
Stick around for more! And we're in the process of building an online community.
Love to hear more about roads for targets instead of like a singular point
Love it Coach! Little guy might not might not grasp what leads to topspin! Interested to hear what activity or cue you would use to help him search better!!
Find your top.. so very useful
So glad it was helpful! This is one of the foundational principles of the game.
Cool kid. Interesting that the coach isn't split stepping.
It's cause he's playing a kid haha
I laughed out loud reading this 🤣
1:34 what was that hard shot about 😂
Gotta show 'em who's boss. 💪🏼
Could you show some of your students with the backhand
Yes! The videos are on their way, thank you for asking!
Always wondered how and why to hit this shot. Wonderful breakdown
YES! I'm excited for you to make it a part of your game!
This was Joao Fonsecas coach when Joao lived in San Diego!
That's right! I worked with Joao for almost three years as a junior. He still uses many of the techniques I taught him!
nice video, thank you teacher
Glad you liked it! Thank you!
"I want more in the finger tips and less in the palm" can you please explain that, thank you
I’m wondering the same.. best guess it’s a cue for feel.. the fingers are much more sensitive to touch than the palm
Awesome boy and coach. They are a good team.
He is great! And thank you!
Awesome vid, awesome coach! There's a ton of videos on the forehand out there but this one has left me with a clear and fresh vision. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Means the world to have you here!
I'm pleased that others also have the opportunity to learn from you, Coach, on this platform. Coach Michael is unquestionably the best coach we have encountered. His exceptional skills and techniques have significantly improved my daughter's abilities in a short period.
I appreciate that! Thank you so much for the support!
The best coach ever! I was lucky enough to better my technique during my time at the clinics with coach Michael. He’s just a cool guy that knows EVERYTHING about the game.
Thank you!!

Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate you!
Talented boy and a great coach!!
Thank you!
Wow!! Excellent coach, tips and information!!
Thank you so much for the kind words!!
The manner and the coach with which one begins tennis is crucial. While I don't wish to exaggerate, it seems that 99% of the coaches I've encountered were merely ball machines, so I have so much respect for those who perform their job with professionalism.
I feel the exact same way
Well said! Most coaches are glorified ball machines. "Good, follow through, move your feet, nice shot, good, little earlier". Very little actual instruction.
I am so excited to have you all here, there's SO much more to come!
This is gold🥇🏆🏆
Yesss!
Excellent coaching.
Agreed
Thank you for the kind words!
ROTFL
What grip on the forehand is she using?
good details about the game! keep going.
Thanks, will do! Happy to have you!
Why not just call it a unit turn like everyone else?
The reason I prefer diamond is that it emphasizes the arm formation in the rotation/unit turn. Maintaining/creating the proper arm formation is a big challenge when developing this technique and is imperative as it directly leads to the sideways lag. But I don't have an issue w unit turn... depends on the coach and how they massage that moment. In reality, the unit turn is limited too as it's not just a turn of the body but the beginning of a full body coil. But in the end, both terms are fine depending on the coach's ability to use them as a tool
So glad I found this page!!
I'm so glad you're here!
