I bought this 1965 International Harvester in July 09. I have no idea how long it was sitting but probably many years. Got the carb rebuilt, rebuilt the brakes and did some other minor maintenance and got it running in September 09. It has a BG241 engine and 4 speed transmission. I will be attempting to drive it in less than a week from CO to TN.
Great to see all these good looking Eagles! Just finished mine. Take a look and tell me what you think. ua-cam.com/video/K9-ZoNqIhKY/v-deo.html
I realize this is 10 years plus old But boy the memories I still have mine but rust took its toll on all 3 living in the northeast I'd love to have another one great cars 🤗
2019 rewind
2:32 broke my heart. I remember when Smityeagle posted that pic. That car was Beautiful.
LOL Jagtyger where do you find these mint condition 1,200 SX/4 eagles??? Must be at the end of the rainbow. At least for sure here in the midwest.
Are they coil spring front suspension?
We have a !1983 eagle 4x4 limited great condition gonna turn her into a wheeler
It's not boring, the video is too short!!! You need to make more, longer videos of your eagle driving around, a walk around, and the like.
And 4:50 LOL
Hey! That's my Eagle @ 1:03!!! Cool
Have a AMC Machine ( R/W/B) , a 69 Rambler with Fuel injected 4.0 from a jeep!) a '76 Pacer X, A 74 Gremlin with a '69 AMX 390 4 sp and posi.....and JUST BOUGHT YESTERDAY a 85 AMC EAGLE for the womans daughter's first car! GO AMC!
Ive owned at least 8 amc cars.2 were Eagles one wagon one sx4 . My mechanic worked for AMC I have to tell anyone considering these cars they require constant maintenance.Something always needed to be tweaked or adjusted etc. ugh! However i did LOVE the cars. I also owned a mint 1986 Grand Wagoneer Total Nightmare in repair costs . Had to finally sell it.
The original "Crossover" LOL!
They should have kept AMC. Eagle should have been all AWD models, Plymouth economy models, Dodge performance models and Chrysler Premium/Luxury.
There was a factory conversion (like with the sundancer convertable) in 1980 with a VM Motori 3.6L Turbo Diesel, the MSRP was a lot more than the gas engines and it is estimated they made only seven of them. Two are known to be around from members of the AMC Eagle club.
It was a mistake to discontinue AMC.
the transmission on the 1980-1988 AMC Eagle Transmission 4-speed manual 5-speed manual 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic Overdrive (diesel only)
Best Cars Ever! My 1980 Eagle 2 Door Sport: watch?v=TJS-EI-x-8E&feature=colike
I like the Kammy at 2:54...what grill is that?
@cdawg4391 Not sure, you did have to stop the car to switch it from two wheel to four wheel drive. I suspect it was based on the Jeep transfer case technology of the time but with independent suspension in front. A true crossover decades ahead of it's time and from what I've seen, a very good off road performer as well. Not like these Clorox bottle-looking "SUV's" of today.
I nearly shit my drawers at 0:15! What a nice car!
i love your eagles bro. i have one too which i would never change for no one else. congrats and greetings from cuernavaca, mexico
How did their 4wd work....was it full time? Was it part time?
There is never a boring video when an Eagle is involved!!!Great car/cross over !!
Is that the red one that was just on ebay?
glad to see people appreciating these beasts...the family ride back in the day was an 82 wagon, leather seats and all...I found an 86 for $400, immaculate- except for the motor..had a new 4.2 put in for short money..loved it, though most people hated it, the ride- highway or snow- was always secure and comfy..had it from '93-'96 and would have kept it if the Northeast snow and salt hadn't eaten the underbody away...have a dodge 1500 hemi 4x4 now but I fondly miss that eagle..kudos to you folks
I have been a member of the EaglesNest and submitted multiple quality pictures and look and behold. The pictures of JayRamb's 2 Eagles have not been featured in this lil video. How nice of you.
Well then, this just about confirms it... Going to look at one this morning!
People on the Nest would be proud of the video. Nice job.
I'm happy to see this. My Dad and I would go to the AMC dealerships regularly to see what they had, and I remember all these Eagles distinctly. I loved them then and still do now.
That is possible, but it is also possible that the steering wheel has been removed and reattached slightly off kilter. A competent mechanic could tell you which it is, but get more than one opinion before you do any work:) 225s without a lift kit will strike the inside of the wheel well in front and scrape the top of the well in the back even 215s are close. I use 205 x 75 R 15 on my rigs. That way I do not have to adjust the speedometer link in the tranny
@JagdtygerII Thanks for the advice, I was wondering when you say that the 225's are to too tight, would that knock the front end out of alignment, I have noticed that the steering wheel has to be turned to one side a bit to get the car to drive straight, Would the front end being out of alignment do this to the wheel. Would continuing to drive with these tires do any damage to the car, I am not that good of a expert when it comes to steering systems and front ends. Thanks for the advice

@ATARI800XLfan Next time you want one, you might take a vacation over to the West Coast. California, Oregon, Idaho and Washington have them in force because they were popular here. The List that Craig has usually has three or four or more at any given time for the major city areas.
@JagdtygerII I live in Indiana, Got it above grand rapids, which was a 4 hour drive, was the closest one though.
@ATARI800XLfan For my area, $3000 is a bit high, but as long as you cleaned up the rust and are happy, who am I to complain. You may find the electronic carb a pain in the butt as they tend to break down on a regular basis along with the ignition modules, so keep spare parts handy or replace with a manual carb. Without a lift kit 225s are too tight but with the kit, they are a good choice. Congrats and happy 4 running
@JagdtygerII I ended up getting one for 3,000 up in Michigan. It is a 1984 four door sedan, two tone copper and brown, the only rust is a little surface rust on the bottom of the passenger doors, there is no rust on the frame. It has 143,500 miles, brand new factory carb, not a rebuild. Interior is in good shape, new steering box, brakes, coolant lines, always starts and runs well. Front end needs aligned though, one of the previous owners put 225's on instead of the 215's.Had to put on air shocks
@ATARI800XLfan I hope you have not paid $1200 for an Eagle with body cancer. I have owned over a dozen Eagles and have never paid more than $500.00 for any of them. Rust on the fender is a sign of poor maintenance and cleaning of the vehicle as they all came with a plastic wheel well mud and snow fender guard. However, if you can find a SX-4 in good Shape, especially with the 4 speed manual transmission and a good 6, you'll never want to let it go One of them in cherry condition is worth 1200
@ecoli2345 Just got myself a 1984 Eagle sedan a few weeks ago and I love it so far, handles better then I expected though when in 4 wheel drive, do not really sense that much of a difference when on Dry roads, will probably notice it more once the snow starts coming.
@ecoli2345 Very nice car, what year is it.
@ecoli2345 I guess the other reason is that When I got my camero, that was all I was thinking about was the name and persona of the car and that nobody else at my high school had one. But know that I am older,21, and more mature I have come to realize that the car is not as unique as I had thought and that it really is not practical. It is a pain to have more than 2 people in the car and that there really is no need to have a car that goes that fast when there is no place to drive that fast.
@ecoli2345 The reason I am thinking of getting rid of the camero is because in the winter my college is 1.5 hours away and driving back home every other weekend was a bit of a pain. I also just love the look of the car. I do not know why maybe it is because I love things from the 80's,I even collect old game systems from back then like my Atari and Back to the future is one of my favorite movies along with Ghost busters. It is also just more practical then my camero. It is 4x4 and can haul stuff
Nice video. I am looking at a 1983 Eagle stationwagon. The seller wants 1,200 for it.The interior is in good shape and the engine has a rebuilt carb though the seller mentioned that the choke sticks from time to time. The car does have some rust, It has a good sized rust hole on the front drivers fender, some surface rust on the front passenger door, some on the back passenger door and some surface rust on the underside. I am thinking of selling my 1997 camero to get it,what is your opinion of it.
I had one of these back in the 70's, converted into a camper. Loved it, but it scared the heck out of me on the highway -- hard to control, and it seemed a strong enough gust of wind could have blown me off the road like a feather. How was it for you?
no doubt mate. :)
Cool Metro, have fun on your road trip mate.
