4 tips to UNDERSTAND English speakers in TV shows and real life
Hey, UA-cam! Welcome back to my channel Lingualana. Today's video is a bit personal because we're diving into a topic I've struggled with myself - understanding TV shows and movies without subtitles. But fear not, because I've got some tips based on my own experience on how to fix that. Let's jump right in!
4 MAIN ASPECTS that IMHO cause this problem:
1) Accents and Pronunciation
2) Speed of Speech
3) Informal Language and Slang
4) Cultural Context
Tips to fix the problem (based on my personal experience:
1 Persistence
2 Graduality
3 Technology - a game-changer
4 Language learning apps.
For more details watch my video!

Pls find 10 business jargon because I have to write them in my Diwali 🎇 homework.
Ok
Hey, I'm from Brazil and I just saw a video wich the guy was sayng "I I got myself on tripple digits dawg" What does it mean? I can't find it, I saw in a survivor game, if it matters...
Hi! It means kinda "I have 3 numbers, dude". But I need more context))
I just figured it out that is related to the volume of its headset, thanks 🙏🏻
@@Raphinhaprimo welcome! Sorry for my delayed reply :( Haven't seen that)
In UA-cam, go to Settings and choose a slower playback speed. On a different situation, when you are watching any video on Google Chrome, it is very simple to add a "Google Extension" (choose an app from the Google app store) and pick a video speed controller... That way you can control the speed (slower or faster) of any videos you watch on Google!
It's one thousand and seven hundred
This option is also correct, I am not wrong :)
Your wrong
Absolutely right 😊
Now I can say one word in american, we making it out the east with this one💪🔥
Do you prefer American or British pronunciation?
In India we have this concept of learning both British English words and alternate American English word in Schools (Even though our textbooks are based on British English), so that were ever we go can understand what they are saying about 😊
I also was teaching both British and American English)
I also was teaching both British and American English in schools)
Yeah that's still a cookie in 'British English' but Americans call biscuits cookies too
No American will ever say eggpl-aw-nt. They say egg-plent.
Hey, it’s not “how do we call” it’s “what do we call”. Saying “how” instead of “what” is usually a mistranslation from many people’s native language
Yeah, my mistake
Yeah, my mistake
That’s a cookie
Ok, I'm a brit and I'ma just say... THAT'S A FUCKING COOKIE, NOT A BISCUIT. SHORTBREADS, DIGESTIVES AND ALL ALIKE ARE BISCUITS!!!!
😅
And this why they sound dumb
Bruh, we are the reason you Americans exist.
Do you know more examples?
Uhh, for instance in England we call sidewalks "Pavements".
@@Banana_Blaster69👍🏼
You are the reason women who has a child prefer to learn to speak French,
Have you been enjoying the lac toes that much? I could see and hear your smiley voice rather than tearful voice.
😅😅😅 one more cool joke, haha)) But the lack toes still terrible))
It is one thousand seven hundred 😅
Yeah it's both of them realy
Right!
Did u know that? And how to read 1111?
It is one thousand one hundred and eleven 😊
Eleven eleven
It's based on conext. If you're saying it as the number, it's one thousand one hundred and eleven. If you're saying it as if the year 1111, it would be eleven eleven
@@Canicepouright! Also, you can say eleven hundred eleven)
@@Maya_KuceraThe easy one))
Great tips, thank you, Lana! My English level is basic, so I can't watch all the TV shows without subtitles) I'll try))
Do your best :)
