G'day!
Welcome to my channel, I am a Dutchman 🇳🇱 exploring Australia 🇦🇺
After 54 years living in the Netherlands, my partner, myself, and of course Olaf our dog moved to Western Australia in 2024.
We are going to document our travels through Australia, and maybe later explain more about the differences in the Netherlands compared with Australia.
I also love photography, and you can see this on Facebook and Instagram!

In 2022 I had the chance to drive this truck combination in Sweden, loaded with a windmill tube.
Together with colleagues Marco who provided car guidance behind the truck, and Michel who gave me instructions in the cabin.
Super experience and I will never forget it.
The combination was approximately 40 meters long, the tube was 4.5 meters in diameter and the total weight of the combination was around 125 tons.

I had a Dutch driver license and had to change this in Australia. Well my truck driver license is not much worth here, and I had to go back to school. Also talking about driver shortage and no trailer exam in Australia. I wil make more video's of differences between the Netherlands and Australia in the future. Today Olaf and I drove to Logue Brook Dam to fly the drone. It is amazing to see the blue / green water in the middle of a forrest. There are a lot of Dams in Australia, and this will not be the last one we will see. Today we drove from Esperance to Wylie Bay, there you can drive up to the beach and you can drive into the dunes. There was nobody, and in the dunes we only saw some tracks, and a car which don't go no more.... Great experience and looking forward to do this more often. Its not so difficult. Effectively the way to convert overseas licence on arrival as permanent resident is 1. Get C (and optionally R) licence by usual way, depends on state and country of origin. Usually by practice exam. 2. Get learners permit for HR/HC on the base of overseas C/D/E licence - sit theory test, present overseas licence. 3. Make crashcourse (competency based training), it takes 2 days. In SA govt (CITB) even subsidises it. 4. Done. The single problem - if you will change this HR/HC licence interstate they may try to give you PROVISIONAL licence, because your Australian licence history is too short. In this case you have to present your overseas licence, possibly with approved translation.
Thanks Anton! So if I would decide to move from WA to NSW in a few years it could be that they give me the provisional licence in stead of HR? Every state has something different apparently.
@CrocodileDutchie I made my HC in SA in 2010 when arrived, and when in 2012 I relocated to NSW they did try to issue only P, because SA licence was issued less than 3 years before. So I had to translate and present my old overseas licence together with full SA HC.

Did that trip in 1982 there had been a rain storm a few weeks before an the desert was carpeted with wild flowers A once in a lifetime experience.

Dank je wel Houkje, het kan best warm worden hier, tussen de 40 en 50 graden in de zomer. Op dit moment is het tussen 25 en 28 graden in de winter.
