Well, given that Hoshina the Younger is better than Gen in close quarters combat, and Hoshina the Elder is better than Hoshina the Younger in *everything* we can use the transitive property ( if a>b and b>c than a>c) to determine that Hoshina the Elder personally trounced Gen in all close quarter combat and was at least similar to Gen in ranged combat meaning that Hoshina the Elder left no part of Gen's ego unbruised. 😁

Yesss, I have suspected that Soshiro was Matsumoto's favorite for a long time. 😂

@@bettyadamsoveranalyzes It’s something else when it is the new generation’s strongest officers are the one to find potential in Soshiro’s swordsmanship but none of those from the old generation never did and even try to put him down for not being like the others or his older brother in terms of guns

@@kobsterhope9270 True that. Though Mina had a special need for his swords, and could compensate for his lack of firepower, and Narumi had a litteral super power that let's him see people's potential. So maybe not that surprising. :)

Kaiju No. 9 had no bodies of his own at all. His was stolen from him as a child. :)

Ah! WOW! That is a perfectly logical theory. And it ties into the fact that apparently KN9 WASN''T at the battle in 1657, but Lil' Guy was. Wow, that is a seriously impressive theory.

@@bettyadamsoveranalyzes It also answers the question of wether Kafka can turn back into human because he can’t anymore because he would now be using K8 natural body. In a twist of fate, Kafka attempt to retain his humanity by suppressing K8 only makes it worse on him because he threw away the attempt to naturally attain the power. It also explains why Kafka signature disappears because it’s no longer Kafka it’s truly K8.

Yes...and KN9 himself said he felt like he was being guided to find the giant underground kaiju.

@@bettyadamsoveranalyzes the trigger was essentially for me noticing these was seeing that the symbols used on Kafka and the ones used on Mina are different and thinking this isn’t meant to kill. So why would they be different? What if the new threat was the one who wanted to absorb Mina all along and “guided” 9 to follow the same goal.

@@bettyadamsoveranalyzes Yeah and its abilities are weird. How does this kaiju know how to draw kanji that’s probably hundreds of years old? From absorbing humans. But it’s weird Kanji magic is also weird. What if the priest that looked like Gen in ch 104 had a similar ability and the new threat is simply using that ability after absorbing him. Maybe his slashes also came from then Hoshina samurai looking dude. Maybe he is aiming for people with special abilities. Like Mina.

@@JoseReyes-jo7tc One of the issues with KN8, is that it is not always clear what is real in the physical world and what is simply a metaphorical projection of what the kaiju are doing. For instance, I was genuinely unsure if Bakko the tiger was physically real for the fist several times I saw him, or if he was just an artistic representation of how awesome Mina's spirit was. I can't say for sure that the kanji are physically real to human eyes in universe yet... but if they are, it would be a nice tie in to the fact that Kikoru believes in 'witchcraft' at least enough to consider it as a possiblity when first encountering KN9.

I didn't cover it in this video, because the video was mostly focused on analyzing the differences between the two trailers, but creator interviews suggest that Hera will be very much a 'Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind' type protagonist. So what you are saying is very likely.

Yes, this is especially telling as KN9 seemed to *need* a compatible user with the numbered weapon fully activated to get control of the larger kaiju. Meaning KN9 probably has to preserve some element of the human user to keep the kaiju power functional.

Okay, here's a question. If the Kaiju No. 9 we have seen up to this point has been a specific combination of variants, and that body is utterly destoryed by Kafka and Mina, but the will that drives Kaiju No. 9, remains, but it has to grow a new body composed of other variants. Would we even be able to recognize the new avatar of that will as Kaiju No. 9?

@@bettyadamsoveranalyzes This kind of begs the question as to how No9 came to be? This also reminds of thequestion about, is an axe the same axe if you replaced the handle and axehead at different points in time, will a kaiju No9 be a Kaiju No9 if you replace the fungus that makes up a kaiju No9 or something like that...... Sorry I really couldn't come up with anything feasible in reference to your question, I would say if No9 still retains certain personality traits and ideals then even if his body changes I feel you could still consider him to be No9 -Duke

It was the first moment in the manga where I realized I wanted to see it animated. :) It did not dissapoint.

Very true that outside resources are so often needed, and every family indivdually had a different experience. The experiences that I saw, both personally and in those around me involved the vast majority of the second generation, those Baby Boomers that take so much flack these days, trying their best with what resources they had. Every family has their own tale, what I described in this video, and what Matsumoto seemes to be drawing on for inspiration was what I observed in the families around me.

@@Naedlus agree to dissagree. :) The great thing about international platform is getting different prespectives. I think the one was born out of the other as a cultural observation of the average over time.

@@bettyadamsoveranalyzes I guess I'm overly sensitive about the idea of "trauma being romanticized." I've seen how it's been used as a coping methods in the past to justify the worst ("If I could take it, they can," or "I can change him,") as well as by modern big "C" Conservative movements to justify treating everyone around them horribly. Nearly three decades out of that house, and I fear forming connections with others because I know the flare ups and fear them being directed wrong.

@@Naedlus Understandable, romanticization is a very real issue across so many subjects, and we each have our own demons to fight still.

Probably the most likely option. :)

True that, that would swing the weight of the evidence more towards option 1, or that what Kafka saw was his kaiju sense detecting another kaiju.

They almost have to given the unlimited scope of the posibilities in a manga format vs what is pracitical in live aciton.
