Double Visit - English Country Dance

NOTE: MISSING 2 bars! If there seems like too much time for the turn-and-progress move at the end, there is we're missing the setting between the back-to-back and siding. B sequence: fall back and come forward; back to back; SET; "curly" siding; R-hand turn once and progress. All of those are four bars except the setting, which is two bars. Double Visit: dance by Philippe Callens and tune (Capt...

Revelations - English Country Dance
Gorgeous performance of this dance! (I've practiced it in Jamaica Plain, Boston, MA, and in Arlington, MA.) It is a brilliant dance.
One of the most fun sessions I've been part of at Pinewoods, and that's saying quite a lot. Thank you Jenna, and thank you Dave for the gorgeous tune!
This is one of the loveliest dances I have ever seen/heard! Thank you! I am preparing for the Portland Ball, and am especially looking forward to this dance.
Thank you! I passed your comment on to Anna Rain, the choreographer.
Absolutely gorgeous! The tune, the music are mesmerizing and the figures for this dance create a tapestry that simply flows. Many thanks to the videographer for capturing it.
Great to see it at this tempo!
Although not in the video, I also did this dance during the tryout. The feeling on the lines of four moving together was terrific. This a real keeper. I'm glad to see it has a name. When we danced it, Anna said it was the nameless dance.
Enjoyed learning this one on 9-10-2024 at the Williamsburg Heritage Dancers weekly dance! Thanks, Jenna!
Lovely flow. Appropriately named!
murmaration? yes:)
How might one find the caller's notes for this dance? Also, who was the caller in this performance? Was it Carrie Rose? Thanks!
The caller is Melissa Running and the directions are in one of Jan Dale's books - we can't recall which one. Thanks for your interest!
@@carrierosearts Thanks! I managed to get hold of the directions through some personal contacts. I did find one online source that listed the dance as included in Jan Dale, _A Concise Flora for Dancer_ [sic]. That title does not make sense, and returns no hits on a search, but there is apparently a book, _Flora Janica - A Florilegium of Dances_, which out of print.
@@Amittai_Aviram Great! I'm glad this worked out.
Wonderful dance, beautifully and exuberantly performed!
Beautiful dancing!
Nice Dance, I didn't know that one yet and will take it to a future dance night of my group in Germany. Thanks
Where is this?
It's a bit like United States square dancing. Fun.
where do you think the square dancing came from?:)
@@nedeast6845 apparently you know. lol
Delightful!
Delightful performance! Everybody is really _dancing_!
この踊りは、ジプシーターンがとても難易度が高いです。
I got to number 6 and was like "it's the one that's based off the river!" Couldn't remember what it was called but literally wrote down "the river one" on my paper
Good for you! Glad you're enjoying the quiz. We had fun making it at a time when we were starved for dancing.
A very classic English Jig
Only if you play it really fast
Nice dancing, smooth and accurate. Really enjoyed the flute playing, great centered, supported sound.
Thank you, John!
What a beautiful dance and has the feeling of Playford old English dances. Great dancing and musicians. Thank you
Thank you Carrie Rose.
This dance was written by John Lagden and the music for the dance is also called Heather Towers, specially written for my father's birthday. Sorry, but the tune being played is not the correct one to go with the dance.
We've corrected the blurb to note this is not the original tune for the dance, and to point to a copy of that.
That was amazing! I got so many dances right. I miss dancing!
Wonderful! Especially liked the last dance.
Thank you! That was fun to watch.
This dance was written for my grandfather for his 70th birthday 🙂 lovely to see it travel all the way across the pond!
Lovely -- I love how you've expanded the motions of set and link, with which the dance ends, into recurrent themes in the rest of it -- nice interlocking of parts without being repetitious. And of course the tune, you do like our Scottish tunes don't you?
Nice work
omg i love this music
Can't find this tune anywhere. Anyone know where it can be found?
It's from the book and CD Impropriety Vol. 2. Try this website:www.brookefriendlydance.com/books_cd/impropriety_2_cd.shtml
Thank you! We just had a caller request 7 tunes that are lovely but no sheet music anywhere. For Friday.
Carrie - I see the CDs. I see the books of dances. Are the tunes in the dance books?
I believe so but I'm not sure. I would contact Brooke from her website and ask her about your situation.
Yes, the tunes are included with the dance directions in the books
Nice job calling the dance! And what a beautiful dance and tune and dancing!
I agree! The caller is Anna Rain, and the dance and tune are by Melissa Running.
It's a pleasure to see such lively dancing and good form!
Who are these wonderful dancers?
+Cathy Campbell Thanks for the compliment, Cathy. We are a group in the DC area.
