This music video honestly made me feel a lot of emotions. At first I was unimpressed because this is the song I would listen to when I was sad and feeling like I was losing my best friend during my Master's Degree because I moved away to a place she didn't want to visit me in, and I felt like the music video I guess wasn't as sad as I wanted it to be. But then the longer I watched it and saw everyone's like held back laughter, the mask that is in my opinion very up for interpretation, the little boats, their beautiful smiles and their obvious bond, I found myself tearing up at the simplicity of it all. A lot of the shots were really creative, especially using the paper instruments and the paper bars placed on the beach for everyone to weave through created this optical illusion that was really cool that kinda reminded me of people passing through time. I think this was one of the most creative and out of the box music videos I've seen in a long time. It's funny that this music video is three years old which is around when I started my MFA, and I'm only finding the video now after crying to this song in my car at least a hundred times. I don't know if I'll ever get to tell my friend any of this, I think she'll think it's cheezy, but in the end I'm so glad I had this song to cry to when I was missing her and feeling the weight of everything.
