Given the plot of the game it makes sense why he's so shaken up and distressed in the beginning, but I do feel it makes the twist a little more obvious.

@@kurro6317 In the original, James just slowly fell to his knees, completely dejected and hopeless by what he sees as witnessing the death of his wife not once, not twice, but three times, knowing damn well it’s all his fault. In that moment he took on the full weight and blame for what he had done on himself for the first time, hence his dejected reaction and why he says “I know why I needed you, needed to be punished for my sins”. I would prefer if Bloober just kept it as it was, as I think it was a far more appropriate reaction for James’ character at that point.

The current face of James is fine. But I would have a lookout for any new face or haircut mods to make him look less like Leon. Also, absolutely waiting for Angela face swap and Maria sexy outfit restoration mods

thats the problem lol, james in the original was always kinda emotionless so the retail version was better

James is clinically depressed and disassociates. His face should be more "I'm too tired to even show any emotion" expressive. Which bloober fixed and got right. In the retail version he just looks so done with life

it's because it's not accurate to the original. he doesn't show emotion on the og and doesn't have a sad face. it changes vibe of the whole character and scene.

I thought I was the only one!!! The first version appears more realistic to me and I was hoping we would get a more emotional James in the Remake. The game isn't supposed to be an exact replica of the original with modern graphics. It's a *Remake,* not a remaster. This Remake also had the opportunity of exploring grief through a different perspective. Grief is a very important aspect of Silent Hill 2. Everyone handles grief differently, and it can drastically change someone's appearance too. I liked how miserable and older James looked in the first version. Not everyone responds to grief with a creepy emotionless stare into the mirror like James does in the original. I feel like both versions are a compelling portrayal of grief and the first version should have been kept so that the Remake would remain unique to the original.
