We are two creatives (Dev is a portrait photographer & writer; Phil is a musician) who have used our creative side hustles to help fund our travels over the years. In Spring 2024, we quit our jobs to travel FULL-TIME!

ONE DAY in Davenport, Iowa | We Didn't Expect THIS in the Quad Cities!
We made it to our 47th U.S. state of IOWA! We spent the day in Davenport, Iowa and the rest of the Quad Cities area (made up of Davenport & Bettendorf in Iowa & Moline & Rock Island in Illinois!) and immediately had an experience that ONLY happens when you're open to whatever the journey holds...a stranger's dog on Phil's shoulder! Join us as we explore Davenport, Iowa and the other 3 cities that make up the Quad Cities area on our quest to explore all 50 states in our home country.

No one calls it Cloud Gate and it keeps Anish Kapoor up at night. Just like Sears Tower will always be Sears Tower.. whatcha talkin bout Willis 😂 I’ll throw my hat in the ring for Giordano’s, though. It’s my fave Chicago deep dish.
Ha this is good to know! I had forgotten that Sears Tower had another name, too! We will have to give Giordano’s a try next time.

You should! We absolutely love it - gorgeous beaches, delicious local cuisine, & loads of mojitos (& piña coladas) 😉 What more could you want?
One thing I love about Chicago is how the trains go over top or parallel with roof tops. I also loved the art museum. Only ever been there in the dead of winter but the summer looks like a vibe.
Agreed! The city has such a lively feel to it with all of the elevated trains. We loved visiting in summer - you’ll have to plan another trip!

Lou Malnati’s is definitely the superior Chicago style pizza! If you’re ever back in Chicago, I recommend checking out Portillo’s. They have a really good Italian beef sandwich, and their cake shake has an entire piece of chocolate cake mixed in it.
WOW! Portillo’s was definitely the other rec we received, but we weren’t told about the entire piece of cake in the shake! Haha thanks so much for the recommendation!

Omgosh yes! The cover photo for the channel is insane to obtain! The canva templates were still wonky and took me hours to figure out!
Even after watching UA-cam channels for years, I had NO idea the specs needed to be like that! It was definitely a challenge to figure out, especially if you want to differentiate from the Canva template. They were definitely a helpful stepping stone for us, though!

I like how you show the various specific products you use to make your camping more enjoyable and efficient. I also appreciate how you organize your materials. I figure most of this is from "living and learning" as you have spent time in your SUV. Look forward to more videos!

Ha! We actually didn’t make any modifications to the RAV4 mechanics - just the build out in the back which makes it super easy to switch between full use of the regular SUV and the SUV camper!
I love this! These tips are so handy! I have a Toyota Highlander and could easily make this work!
Yes! You should definitely do it - once we perfected our setup there was no turning back. We love it! And we probably save around $100-125 per night on lodging so it makes trips much more affordable :)
